Yeah I can confirm along with the other US comments that I've seen no sign of these SNES games. I'm playing DQ Builders 2 so I'm not too bothered but I kinda wanted to see the SNES Online myself, maybe consider doing some runs through Mario World and Yoshi's Island later on. Maybe when I wake up in the morning, they'll be there.
I was originally not interested because I own not only the Wii original, but the 3DS port. Then I saw the graphics. Oh man! I can actually see their faces clearly!
Actually, looking at that footage, I'm wondering where they got those clips on the right. No version of Xenoblade Chronicles I ever played looked that clean.
Anyone who doesn't know who Terry Bogard is either not a gamer, a very, very casual gamer, or really young. Like come on, I know people who have never even touched a Neo Geo or a KoF game and they know who this guy is. He's one of the most popular Fatal Fury/KoF characters. I'm less annoyed by that fact and more annoyed that these ignorant people are trashing a character they are in fact ignorant of. "Who asked for this"? Uh I don't know, maybe the millions of King of Fighters and Fatal Fury fans around the world? People have been asking for Terry Bogard ever since Ryu made it in. It's one thing to not know who he is, it's another to bash the character's inclusion over YOUR own ignorance. Like holy crap I can't even wrap my head around that. Surely Nintendolife cherry picked the stupidest possible tweets and such right? I can only hope that's the case.
That aside, this is a dope announcement and I loved the part where Geese is reaching for the invitation and loses it. Hopefully this is the shot in the arm the KoF and Fatal Fury franchise needs.
While I haven't played this particular entry, I can say with confidence I've been burned a lot by these attempts to cash-in on the RCR/Kunio name. I just never found any of the later games to be anything close to the original in any form. The latest disappointment being Underground on PC, which I did not care for that much.
The comparison to Scott Pilgrim has me intrigued though. That was one of my favorite beat-em-up games on Xbox 360. If it can be compared to that, maybe this is finally the game that manages to live up to the RCR name.
Definitely a well-done cosplay suit, but this is a clickbaity headline if I ever seen it. Nothing was "proven" here, it's just an excuse to show off a really good cosplay.
That aside, it's already been established that the armor was made for Samus and her alone, of course it'd be difficult or impractical for anyone else to wear. There's also the fact that it was established in Zero Mission (and hinted before that) that her suit is controlled via psionics. In other words, for Samus, the suit probably feels like it's not even there. If you try to wear it like traditional armor, of course you'd have some issues. You're not a magical space bird human hybrid. Half Metroid too if you go by post-Fusion lore.
And now we can once again argue about the Sega and Super Nintendo versions of Aladdin all over again. I'm still on the Sega Genesis version's side, but I think the SNES version definitely has a better final boss.
EDIT: Wait, is the SNES version not included? That'd be strange.
This is a good game marred by the usual Switch performance problems. A real shame as I think this game would translate really well to a handheld platform.
I understand what the article is saying, I've had my share of ups and downs with whether or not I should buy or pass on this game. It has some great features and baffling omissions. I'm watching closely to see what kind of updates they give the game.
Since I already addressed the multiplayer issue in another article, I will simply paste and edit what I said there:
Turok 1 and 2 were actually coded and built from the ground up, not simply copied or pasted from the N64 and PC. Turok 2 is surprisingly CPU heavy. The devs have been trying to get local multiplayer up and running but due to how CPU heavy the game is, they were having issues keeping the framerate locked down even on stronger consoles like Xbone X. Their current netcode for the Switch is very buggy and unstable so rather than release the game with buggy online multiplayer, they've chosen to simply not include it at launch. As for local multiplayer, if this is REALLY an issue for you, consider the PC and Xbox One versions if you can. I haven't personally tested those out but I've heard both versions have local multiplayer as well as online multiplayer. (I've also heard it's very difficult to find a match online so your mileage may vary.)
They have already confirmed to other sources that they WILL be patching in online multiplayer once they get the netcode up and running, but so far I've found no confirmation that local multiplayer is coming and the devs have even said it's not likely. This means that we will be getting online but probably not local, which is going to be a real disappointment for those that actually care about it. The devs aren't happy about it either, one of them has stated he really wanted to include splitscreen local multiplayer but it's just not likely due to how the engine is built. Both Turok 1 and 2 already benefit from higher res textures, greater draw distance, and fps, but all of this comes at the cost of CPU, which is simply too much for split-screen for Turok 2.
This isn't the first time this dev team has had issues getting something to work with a Turok game, as they had issues getting lens flares to work on Turok 1 for a while and had to later patch it in once they figured out a workaround.
TLDR version is that sometimes it's not as simple as "pasting" something from another version of a game. If they could have gotten local multiplayer to work before release, they surely would have. Unless they come up with a potential workaround for the multiplayer split-screen lag, we probably won't be seeing it at all.
As for the review score, I would say the score is more like 8/10 for anyone who just wants the single player campaign, but 6/10 is a fair score for people who wanted online or local multiplayer like the other versions. The price is a tad steep but as of right now both Turok 1 and 2 are on sale for 25% and 15% off. I can confirm that for a fact in the US and I've been told the EU store has a sale as well.
I really need to get this game, but there's simply too many games vying for my wallet's attention. I played the demo on PS4 and loved it, despite not being too big on Minecraft myself. If it ever goes on sale before then, this will definitely be one of those impulse buys.
Glad my research was of benefit and yeah they're not likely to add local splitscreen multiplayer for the Switch, so you definitely want to skip or get another version if possible.
Solid list, I'm only sad that I couldn't vote. The DS has such a stellar library that unlike the Gameboy, I couldn't easily pinpoint any particular favorites. I pretty much liked all of the major DS titles outside of the Zelda entries.
My top 3 would probably be New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon HGSS, and Mario Kart DS. Dawn of Sorrow is another one of my favorites. Actually, I was rather fond of Tetris DS and Mario 64 DS too. Bah, there's just too many great DS games.
This game has been really doing well as of late. Despite the fact I don't yet own it (due to the bad launch), I'm becoming increasingly interested in it especially with Beyond coming out soon. A Switch port would likely be compromised, but still very interesting to think about.
My first post on this issue is already pretty huge so I'm going to make this one a separate post. As usual, Nintendolife's idea of journalism is utterly laughable. Rather than trying to find out anything for themselves they simply trusted Gamexplain to do all the legwork. It almost makes me wonder if Nintendolife intentionally spun this to try and make the devs look bad, but since they were getting their info from Gamexplain, I don't know. All it took was a few minutes of googling to discover what the issue is and the devs have been pretty up-front about it if you bother to check other sources. It's only their answer to Gamexplain that looks bad. They were even up-front with it prior to release, so this isn't a shock to people who were keeping up with it.
Turok 1 and 2 despite all the cries of "LAZY!!" from the comments section were actually coded and built from the ground up, not simply copied or pasted from the N64 and PC. Turok 1 and 2 are surprisingly CPU heavy. The devs have been trying to get local multiplayer up and running but due to how CPU heavy the game is, they were having issues keeping the framerate locked down even on stronger consoles like Xbone X. Both Turok 1 and 2 already benefit from higher res textures, greater draw distance, and fps, but all of this comes at the cost of CPU, which is simply too much for split-screen for Turok 2. Having played the game myself a bit this morning, I can confirm that all of that is true and while the game doesn't lock down a consistent 60fps at all times, it seems to be close enough. I notice slight slowdown when there's a lot going on (explosions, lots of enemies on screen, etc) but otherwise it seems fine.
This isn't the first time this dev team has had issues getting something to work with a Turok game, as they had issues getting solar lens flares to work on Turok 1 for a while and had to later patch it in once they figured out a workaround.
TLDR version is that sometimes it's not as simple as "pasting" something from another version of a game. If they could have gotten local multiplayer to work before release, they surely would have. Unless they come up with a potential workaround for the multiplayer split-screen lag, we probably won't be seeing it at all. If you're one of the few who played Turok 2 for the multiplayer then you've every right to be annoyed by the omission, but I suspect 90% of the complaints are just people jumping on the bandwagon and probably didn't care about multiplayer in the slightest until they found out it wasn't there.
EDIT: Took out several paragraphs in an attempt to shorten the post.
I heard about this already and it doesn't really bother me at all. While it's still a rather odd omission, Turok 2 was never fondly remembered for multiplayer the way Goldeneye was. In fact, even outside of this comment section, I've never met anyone who talked about Turok 2's multiplayer. Turok 2 is more remembered for it's single player campaign and level of violence, as well as cheat codes. Arguably it's also remembered for having terrible framerate if you enabled the expansion pak.
Turok 2's multiplayer barely mattered even back in the day. Turok: Rage Wars was the big Turok multiplayer game, so obviously if they omitted multiplayer in that one, it'd be a huge deal. As long as the framerate and overall stability is improved, it's already better than the original N64 game which would run at like 15fps if the high end graphics were enabled. So your options were having the game look terrible or run like it's underwater.
Bottom line is that unless you planned on buying this specifically for multiplayer, this omission is pretty much a non-issue and just another case of gamers looking to be outraged by even the tiniest thing. I mean are we seriously getting angry about a Turok game (not named Rage Wars) lacking multiplayer now? A series not even remembered for multiplayer? If you really want your precious Turok 2 multiplayer, the Steam version should have it, so I recommend that version. If there's anything we should be complaining about, it's the price. Doom 3 launched at a reasonable 9.99 while Turok 1 and 2 are launching at twice that. (Although worth noting both games are currently on sale in the US and possibly EU at 25% off for Turok 1 and 15% for Turok 2.)
Doom 1 and 2 released in a much worse state than this, so the omission of a mode most people didn't even play to begin with is pretty minor by comparison. The devs response was ridiculous though, if they're going to patch it in later they should at least say as much, so I'm not completely letting them off the hook either. I almost wonder if they simply forgot to implement it and are too ashamed to admit it.
EDIT: And now that I've had a chance to try the game out, I see they included the option to run the PC Soundtrack, that's pretty cool, didn't really expect that. But yes let's all complain about the multiplayer that no one ever played anyway. (And I'm being hyperbolic, I know some people played it, I'm just making a point here.)
All I know is, this Pokemon has increased my odds of purchasing the game. Seriously how can you not love this thing? Look at it. I'm almost willing to overlook all the apparent flaws with S&S now.
EDIT: And I just found out this thing is an evolution of a galaxarian Zigzagoon. I've always loved that Pokemon for it's ridiculous name and design, so even better!
I've yet to buy one of these 8bitdo's, but I'm definitely interested since I'm planning to buy one or two once I get ready to invest in FPGA clone consoles.
Yeah gonna have to mimic the above sentiment. This doesn't look too groundbreaking. Still, sounds interesting enough! I'll add this to the list of games to watch out for.
I went Blue Lions myself and yeah I find her a bit overrated, but chances are that my opinion of her will change when I try her route. But for now, go Blue Lions! Felix is a certified bad-@$$. Oh, and Dedue.
She's not just dominating the game as most popular choice either, she also has the most fan art. Almost half the Three Houses fan art is Edelgard last time I checked. Her popularity is off the charts.
EDIT: Okay after playing through the night and stopping this morning, I reached a point in the story where I have a legit reason to dislike Edelgard now. She always gave me the impression of being an arrogant B**** and now that I've gotten pretty far into the Blue Lions story, yeah. I doubt my 2nd play (where I intend to pick the Eagles) will change my opinion of her at this point.
Alright this is good news, definitely pushes me more in the direction of getting the game somewhere down the line. 32 seemed a bit small to me but 64 is a good number. I don't think I'd ever make more courses than that. I only made about 20 or so courses in the original game and that took me years.
I'm glad to see Nintendo finally advertising this game a bit, they've been way too quiet about it. Can't wait to see how this game shapes up, it's one of the major releases I'm planning to snatch up for July.
With all the web-slinger characters included, I'm thinking of going full Spooder with Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider Gwen, and Venom.
I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Bomberman 94 and Bomberman Saturn come back. With Konami doing all these compilations lately, hopefully they'll take some of the Bomberman games and compile them. There's a lot of great Bomberman games they could re-release and I'm sure M2 would be glad to do it.
Bomberman R definitely improved with the upgrade, it just feels much better to play since they updated it. I highly doubt CTR will get the same upgrade though, but an Onion can hope.
I've already heard about this and it's a pretty cool device that gives much better video quality than the GB Player under most circumstances. Because the GB Player doesn't natively scale up to HD TVs so well, this is a great device for anyone looking to go HD with their retro GBA carts and currently your best option. Unfortunately like most HD options, also rather expensive.
The alternative is to use the GB Player with GC component cables (even more expensive) and then use hacking software to run the games in 240p, preferably on a CRT.
The GB Player is a great device and I love mine, but it gives extremely poor video quality, you pretty much need a program like Swiss to get any sort of high quality picture out of the thing.
The cheapest alternative for a good picture (besides emulating on PC or something) is the Wii U GBA VC which is pretty good, the quality and accuracy are great, but you obviously need a Wii U and you're limited to what games you have access to.
Pretty much. This game has the largest roster of the entire franchise so far, so even without the DLC you're getting quite a bit for the base price. MUA3 has 34 characters so far, MUA2 only had 25 (not counting all the DLC). The idea they are "withholding" any characters is ridiculous when you consider that all the DLC won't even be released until 2020. On top of that, we don't even know who the characters are or what the DLC will involve. Makes you wonder where all this "holding characters hostage" talk was with Smash Bros Ultimate.
No one is holding a gun to anyone's head. If anyone is on the fence about the DLC, just wait for it to start coming out in Fall and decide if it's worth it to you then. The MUA franchise has been dormant for a long time (aside from two crappy re-releases), calling for a boycott over something we know nothing about yet is frankly ridiculous and low sales could be enough to finish the franchise off.
Now if it turns out that they're only adding like 4 new characters to the game with nothing else added, then yeah I agree, boycott away. From what I can tell though they're planning to add entire teams (such as the Fanatastic Four) to the game which could mean new story content as well.
Another thing we don't know yet is how long the game itself is. MUA1 was a fairly lengthy game for what it was, while I recall MUA2 being a bit shorter due to the split story paths. We also don't know if new game plus will be brought back yet. If the game is suspiciously short, then that would be an issue and would confirm that there may be some form of withholding going on. Even worse, the 34 character roster could be made up of clones that all play exactly the same like Fire Emblem Warriors.
The game comes out in about 4 days, we'll find out soon enough. Any conclusions about whether or not the game has withheld content until then is based entirely on ignorance. There hasn't been a ton of information revealed about the game so I would say to hold off any judgments until it comes out. We'll learn more then.
Good, these are the kind of patches I was hoping to see. And yeah I agree with the above about framerate. I know it's a stretch, but we could see a 60fps patch at some point. I mean, they did it with Super Bomberman R. Not likely, I know. The game is 30fps on all platforms so they likely built it specifically for that framerate. (Try playing Turok at 60fps to see what I mean about this)
Still good to see they're supporting the game so much after launch either way.
Wow this topic might have the most upvotes and downvotes I've ever seen.
Anyway, @Folv pretty much nailed exactly how I feel about the situation almost word for word. Really saves me a lot of trouble, this person nailed it completely. This whole situation is silly and proof that gamers will use buzzwords and look for anything to complain about. Bonus props for @JaxonH as well for nailing the same points I was going to nail, just in a more comedic fashion. Chances are the so-called "boycotters" were never going to buy the game in the first place. The hilarity of it all is that we don't even know what characters are coming out yet and the tantrums are already flying.
With that being said though, this is a rather strange decision. My guess is that they're releasing characters in packs of some kind, which explains why the DLC won't actually be coming until Fall and lists team names. Unless they have some good reason for this, I'm hoping they back out on it. It just gives haters an excuse to hate.
It doesn't really matter to me anyway, I typically buy DLC all at once anyway if I buy it. I'm certainly not going to boycott what appears to be an already huge game over optional DLC.
I'm using a gun build for the most part so that gun looks great, but I feel like this guide is a bit lacking in weapon variety. How about listing the best weapon of each type instead of just saying "Rhava Velar OP". With each weapon having movesets, it'd make the guide way better for people looking to use specific weapons. I myself use guns and katanas.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is pretty sweet and so is Blazing Chrome, but I'm waiting for MUA3 and FE Three Houses. July is turning out to be a crazy good month though. Lots of solid games.

As for local multiplayer, if this is REALLY an issue for you, consider the PC and Xbox One versions if you can. I haven't personally tested those out but I've heard both versions have local multiplayer.
They have already confirmed to other sources that they WILL be patching in online multiplayer once they get the netcode up and running, but so far I've found no confirmation that local multiplayer is coming and the devs have even said it's not likely. This means that we will be getting online but probably not local, which is going to be a real disappointment for the few that actually care about it.
Re: Turok 2 On Nintendo Switch Doesn't Include Multiplayer
@MrBlacky
Not to mention that not everyone had the box back in the day. I own a lot of N64 games without the boxes.
Re: Turok 2 On Nintendo Switch Doesn't Include Multiplayer
Re: Two More NES Games Join The Nintendo Switch Online Service In August
Kung Fu Heroes is actually pretty fun so I like this addition. It'd be cool to see more obscure games like Metal Warriors or Faxanadu.
Re: Random: KISS' Gene Simmons Has Something To Say About New Pokémon, Obstagoon

I don't even know what I just saw, but it was awesome.
Re: Hardware Review: 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ - The Best Third-Party Switch Controller Just Got Better
I've yet to buy one of these 8bitdo's, but I'm definitely interested since I'm planning to buy one or two once I get ready to invest in FPGA clone consoles.
Re: Look After Your Mental Health In Shadows 2: Perfidia, A Survival Horror Headed To Switch
Yeah gonna have to mimic the above sentiment. This doesn't look too groundbreaking. Still, sounds interesting enough! I'll add this to the list of games to watch out for.
Re: Poll: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Is Out Today, Which House Will You Choose?
Come on Blue Lions, you're not gonna lost to some stupid deer and eagles are you?! Bah.
Re: Edelgard And The Black Eagles Are The Most Popular In Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Re: Nintendo Will Now Let You Upload 64 Courses In Super Mario Maker 2
Alright this is good news, definitely pushes me more in the direction of getting the game somewhere down the line. 32 seemed a bit small to me but 64 is a good number. I don't think I'd ever make more courses than that. I only made about 20 or so courses in the original game and that took me years.
Re: Loki, Cyclops And Colossus Join Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Punisher alone is enough to get me to buy the season pass.
Re: Datamine Reveals New Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Characters
Vision and Valkyrie? Interesting choices, I like it!
Re: Nintendo Focuses On Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 At San Diego Comic-Con
@Muddy_4_Ever
A friend of mine said the same thing, haha. I wouldn't count on it though, looks like the DLC is Marvel Knights, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.
Re: Nintendo Focuses On Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 At San Diego Comic-Con
I'm glad to see Nintendo finally advertising this game a bit, they've been way too quiet about it. Can't wait to see how this game shapes up, it's one of the major releases I'm planning to snatch up for July.
With all the web-slinger characters included, I'm thinking of going full Spooder with Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Spider Gwen, and Venom.
Re: Review: Hyperlight Ultimate - A Satisfying Switch Update For The Arcade Shooter
Thanks for reminding me that we still haven't gotten FTL for Switch, Nintendolife.
Re: The Next Crash Team Racing Update For Switch Will Improve Load Times
@60frames-please
Re: Review: Streets Of Rogue - An Ambitious Roguelite With Plenty Of Role Play
Looks good, I'll definitely consider picking it up once I cool off on all the new releases coming this month.
Re: Give Your Game Boy Advance Library An Airing With GBA Consolizer
Re: The DLC Packs For Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Won't Be Sold Individually
@Wilforce @KryptoniteKrunch
Re: The Next Crash Team Racing Update For Switch Will Improve Load Times
Good, these are the kind of patches I was hoping to see. And yeah I agree with the above about framerate. I know it's a stretch, but we could see a 60fps patch at some point. I mean, they did it with Super Bomberman R. Not likely, I know. The game is 30fps on all platforms so they likely built it specifically for that framerate. (Try playing Turok at 60fps to see what I mean about this)
Still good to see they're supporting the game so much after launch either way.
Re: You Can Now Get 90% Off All Atooi Games On Nintendo Switch (North America)
Went ahead and grabbed all of these using my gold points. Good sale for sure.
Re: The DLC Packs For Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Won't Be Sold Individually
Re: Guide: Bloodstained's Best Weapons And How To Get Them
I'm using a gun build for the most part so that gun looks great, but I feel like this guide is a bit lacking in weapon variety. How about listing the best weapon of each type instead of just saying "Rhava Velar OP". With each weapon having movesets, it'd make the guide way better for people looking to use specific weapons. I myself use guns and katanas.
Even so, gonna track down that gun.
Re: Nintendo Download: 11th July (North America)
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is pretty sweet and so is Blazing Chrome, but I'm waiting for MUA3 and FE Three Houses. July is turning out to be a crazy good month though. Lots of solid games.
Re: Review: Blazing Chrome - A Truly Amazing Contra Tribute That 2D Fans Will Adore
Aww yeah, gonna grab this once the dust settles on this months new releases.
