@sethfranum Fair. I've considered getting the Switch 2 for that reason, with Bayonetta 3 being the biggest reason.
I play my switch exclusively handheld though, and I've read contrasting things about image quality when upscaled to the Switch 2 screen and looking worse.
I could really do with testing games like that, to see if it would bother me.
The simple fact that I see more and more games being key card only on Switch 2, is the reason I'm not buying a Switch 2.
All my Switch games are physical (some are limited editions that I've certainly paid more for), I'd happily pay a cartridge tax for physical on Switch 2, if the issue is cartridge cost.
It is what it is, it just means the Switch 2 is not for me and I'll skip this generation.
Might pick up the Switch 1 version of Octopath 0 though.
@Jokerwolf frame rate and resolution boosts are already proven to happen when increasing clocks using overclocked switches.
The only way these won't happen, is if Nintendo makes a decision that the Switch 2 will underclock itself to Switch 1 clock values, when playing Switch 1 games.
Edit. For clarification, games reaching a stable 30, where previously they struggled. I'm not talking games suddenly going from 30 to 60.
If the clock speed increases naturally boost resolution/performance in games with dynamic resolution (Doom/Eternal etc), which would appear to make the most sense, upgrading to Switch 2 is a no brainer.
I don't need 60fps on handheld (I have my ps5 for that), it would be nice to get 720p though (and with gyro aiming, it would become my favourite way to play Doom).
Glad physical BC is confirmed, all my games are physical on Switch!
Extremely unlikely, but a surprise Yian Garuga DLC announcement for Rise/Sunbreak would be appreciated! Just so I can have my favourite three monsters in game.
(Might as well throw in Yian Kut Ku, whilst they're at it)
I don't really care about the performance of Knight or City, so long as Asylum is fully on cart, without huge patches/downloads, and performing solidly, I'll probably buy regardless
"When Legacy Editions come out, people complain about lack of content in the game.
When Switch finally gets a almost completely full featured parity game with other platforms, people complain about FPS.
Which one would you choose?"
Honestly? The legacy edition.
I played the open beta, wasn't really that impressed and planning on skipping it.
This is coming from that one person who has bought every FIFA on Switch since '19, (I didn't have a Switch when '18 came out) just for the roster update.
@PKDuckman "Imagine being so obsessed with a little piece of plastic that you need to insert before you can play the game. I'm sorry but digital is the way of the future whether you like it or not and most physical copies don't even come with the full game on it anyway."
Imagine being so obsessed with other people's preferences to such an extent you feel the need to comment at me?
There are multitudinous reasons I collect physical and all of them have precisely zero to do with your thoughts, opinions or preferences.
Going to join in on the "no physical, no buy" bandwagon. Just like I did for GRID Autosport (which I would definitely have bought) and Alien isolation (which there's better than a 50% chance I would have bought).
If you don't own last season's FIFA and care at all about rosters being up to date, this is worth it. 100%. The game itself is good.
If you own last season's FIFA, should you buy this game? That's up to whoever is making that decision. But you do have the option of updating from '22 to '23 for half price. In my mind, for a full roster update, kit update, etc, that is a perfectly acceptable 'roster update' price. Information that's omitted from this review.
"It's still a $40 roster update, which is ridiculous"
So is not advising people of a roster update option for half that price.
I just modded my original satisfye grip. Partly because I didn't want to wait for the V3, partly because I hate it's only in white or the horrible Beat Em Ups colour.
I removed the rubber inserts of the Satisfye completely and then used strips of the dock screen protector kit from extremerate to cushion the inside of the satisfye grip.
The OLED slides in easily and smoothly and I can turn the whole thing upside down by the grip with the OLED still held comfortably in place.
This is actually excellent news, I dropped off on PS4 about a year ago with life getting in the way, and refused to start the grind all over again on Switch which gets my playtime now.. I have way too much hard to get s*** to go through all that again
For anyone that hasn't already played it and has half an interest, definitely Fast RMX. Perfect when I want to just pick up and play for 10 minutes, have over 40 hours in the game, and I still have things to do to 100% it.
"5 more years and we may actually see a Nintendo game be 50% off."
No. In five more years, Switch 2 will be out and all those old Nintendo games will be removed from the eShop, in favour of selling the new Switch 2 DX version at full price instead.
@TheFullAndy
I actually give the thumbs down to every 'NINJA APPROVED' post I see. I never usually give thumbs down for anything.
The guy might actually make a little sense in some posts for all I know. I just can't see past 'NINJA APPROVED' to be reasonably objective about it. Clearly my failing.
As others have mentioned; no physical copy, no buy.
I have 2016 on both PS4 Pro and Switch, and would possibly have done so again with Eternal.
For £50, they could have put the game on a 32GB cartridge. CDPR managed it. Clearly they've prioritised a profit margin over offering options to the customer, and will undoubtedly lose sales overall as a result.
"Those guys that say "I'm glad I got It for PS4 on disc", they must not know that you don't play the game from the disc, It gets installed, so it's the same sh*t at the end."
I'm completely digital on PS4. The difference for a lot of people though, when it comes to physical PS4 games, is that a game can be installed quicker from disk than it can be downloaded again, if they are managing a lot of games on and off of their PS4 (with typically smaller downloads required to update their game to the current version).
Others have said it, but without a physical edition with at least the complete single player portion of the game on cartridge, this is a no buy from me. If I'm going digital, then I'll get it digital on my PS4 when it hits a good sale instead.
Shame really, as I have 2016 on both Switch (physical) and PS4 (digital), and would probably have done the same again.
@Silly_G Apparently, the 2GB mandatory download is only the online multiplayer portion of the game, and the game can be launched and played without the download. Someone asked the question a few days ago on Reddit.
Basically, it's supposedly a Doom 2016 Switch scenario. I'm okay with that.
I'm just going to say it. Nintendo don't need a Switch Pro. At least not yet.
The Switch is still selling gangbusters, despite the new gen being here. It will continue to sell amazingly well throughout next year at minimum. There might be a very vocal niche calling out for an upgraded Switch, but everyday Joe isn't going to buy it.
I'm not saying I wouldn't buy one. If they slapped limited edition Monster Hunter all over it, I'd be in on day one (the only reason I bothered getting a PS4 Pro tbh).
I just don't think it makes sense for them to release a pro, whilst sales of Switch are still exceptionally strong.
@SwitchForce "yet we get NintenDoomed trying much as possible to disparage Nintendo success. I can only image what else they would say when a Switch Pro/? get released next year"
WHEN did @okimoki actually say anything like that? Where was the disparaging of success? Delays are a real thing. The current pandemic isn't helping with that.
This isn't the first time you've taken what someone has said, turned it into something that they haven't actually said, just so you can fit it into your own delusional agenda.
@Damo "Yeah, removing the older ones is pretty bad. It's like an admission that this is basically the same game."
To be fair to them, they admit it pretty prominently on the box and in the descriptions.
Also, if they left them up, they could just leave them up at full price. They weren't permanently reduced in price or cheaper than FIFA 21 has launched at. I don't really see any wrongdoing in EA taking them down, like I don't see any wrong with Nintendo taking Pikmin 3 down from the Wii U eshop.
@sixrings there have been numerous discounts on eshop since launch for FIFA 20. The last one was ridiculously cheap. There's been plenty of opportunity for someone to buy it at a reduced price.
And if they had left FIFA 18/19/20 on the eshop, they're also under no obligation to reduce the price of them again. To believe they should would just be someone being entitled.
@sixrings They did say at the end of the review, in the positives, that it still has good gameplay. I don't think they actually called the 'game' itself bad.
@sixrings 720p is 'fine' for docked mode. 576p handheld might leave things looking a little blurry, and a downgrade over the original. For me that's a bigger possible issue.
And Pikmin doesn't really need 60fps.
Yoshi's Crafted World, IMO, would have benefited from higher resolution and lower frame rate for instance. Instead of it looking (what I'd consider) a blurry mess.

Good game and port in general, but online is dead.
The latest update also removed subtitles from the arcade mode (clearly a bug). Be nice if that could be fixed.

Red.

Rathalos for sure. Second and third votes (equal tie, can't choose between them), Yian Garuga and Gore Magala
Re: Excellent Metroidvania 'Ender Lilies' Is Getting A Physical Release (Europe)
I bought the JP version about a year ago for only a little more than this, so not that disappointed.

@tadams587 Any Nintendo Switch game, should be at at the very least 36 to 48+ fps minimum.
A locked 30 will always feel better than 36-48 FPS, because of screen refresh rate/frame pacing.
