"Yeah so did I, moron. But most of you supposed fans didn't. Fact. Cry troll as much as you want. How does the sand taste with your head under there?"
1. You'd never call me 'moron' to my face. So, whatever.
2. Where are the supposed facts you talk about? How can you quantitatively prove that "most (of you) supposed fans" didn't buy the game? You can't? Oh.
3. What did I possibly type that proves I have my head in the sand about anything? I'm interested in knowing. Seriously.
Even though I have P5 and the two Vanillaware games on my PS4 already.
And P4 Golden/P3P, the two Vanillaware games (along with Muramasa Rebirth), on my Vita.
And P3 FES on my PS3.
But... Give me a proper remake of P3, with the aesthetic quality of P5, and a little more dungeon variety in Tartarus, and I'd happily forego the rest of the games on this list.
On one hand, it would be awesome playing the Bayonetta games on my PS4.
I'm more inclined to say however, that Bayonetta should remain a Nintendo exclusive, and that Platinum should show some respect to Nintendo for helping make Bayonetta 2 & (eventually) 3 happen.
Platinum have proven they can come up with new IP so, IMO, just call Bayonetta 3 the final part of the trilogy when it releases and leave it on Switch... And then develop something new that they can do whatever they want with, and release it on whichever platform they want.
@SwitchForce good news on a physical release.. I'm sure they probably had one eye on gauging the reaction of announcing digital only.. fair play to them for the change of mind.
Back on my watch list, here's hoping the port is good! (I'm fairly confident it will be though, Virtuos have a good track history with their ports so far)
@Wargoose Really don't know why you've been downvoted a couple of times for just asking a question.
Anyway, I'm physical because:
1. I like having a tangible collection. Call it nostalgia, I like having cartridges for my Nintendo systems!
2. I like the idea that if I buy something, if I don't like it, I'm not stuck with it and can move it on, and using that money toward a game I might prefer. Very rarely happens, but still.
3. The majority of the time, I can pick up games cheaper physical than digital on Switch, with very few exceptions. Not my biggest driving factor though.
The only games I'll happily buy digital for Switch, are the games I'd consider smaller in nature, where perhaps a lower price point and smaller file size justifies a digital only release. Ori and the Blind Forest/Cuphead/Fast RMX as a couple of examples.
This is a full priced release and I'll not support it without it having a physical release as an option. I'd be happier to pay more for a physical version of a game I wanted, if cartridge manufacturing costs were that much of an 'issue' and prohibiting a release.
Another game on my watch list that I'm striking off and not going to buy, because it's not physical.
Also, download code in a box is an absolute disgrace.
As for cartridges costing more than disks to produce? Just add the cost of the cartridge to the overall price of the game if it's that much of an issue. If I want to buy the game, another couple of pounds, or whatever, really isn't going to stop me from doing so. Bullsh*t like 'code in a box' will though.
@Illusion "but I did pick up Mortal Kombat 11 and Starlink for Switch despite the graphics being better on say, my Xbox One X, because I want to be able to play Mortal Kombat 11 portably."
I did the same for MK11 and played it happily for a month or so portably.. then I jumped on the PS4 version on sale and haven't really touched the Switch version since... I just can't go back to the horrible hair, blurry in engine cut scenes or the joke that is the Krypt on Switch
@Trajan "Counter-point: MW World sold the best, as did P5 in their respective series."
More of a statement, than an actual counter-point? But, I'll throw another statement out there. So did Resident Evil 5, all the fifth iterations/generations of their respective series!
Back to Persona though, specifically P4.
On the PS2, the biggest selling game console of all time, Persona 4 shifted 0.82M copies, with an attach rate of about 0.5%.
On the PS Vita, which didn't sell quite as many units as the PS4, Golden shifted 1.25M copies. Vita sales numbers are sketchy, estimated between 10-15M. Taking the estimate at both ends, the attach rate for Golden is between 8.3% and 12.5%.
Evidence to suggest a Persona 5 game could actually sell better as a portable title?
@MadCow74 "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. please and Train Sim World!"
S.T.A.L.K.E.R, despite being a pain in the arse to type in message boards, would be awesome! I used to love it back in the days that I could actually be bothered with PC gaming.
I actually thought the first F.E.A.R would also make a good port!
@nekonathan17 "PERSONA came out on PlayStation One
Monster Hunter came out on PlayStation 2
BIG difference so @Gr8-1 is right"
The big difference is that Persona, as much as it is loved, is still a relatively niche franchise. As of December, the entire Persona series has shifted 10.2M units, across four generations of hardware and six consoles.
The original PlayStation Monster Hunter games, before losing the series to Nintendo at the time, have shifted nearly 13.5M units, across one generation and two consoles. It was a system seller on a significant scale, a much more important game than Persona ever has been, and ever will be.
I love P3/4/5, but 10.2M units sold for Persona, over the course of nearly a quarter of a century, isn't breaking sales records.
Persona is not a Sony exclusive, nor do Sony own the rights to any of the games. If Nintendo came in, paid for the port development and offered a deal that made sense to Atlus financially, the game would happen. At some point.
A franchise being exclusive to a platform since that platform's inception, without any exclusivity deal in place, is a moot point. Final Fantasy VII anyone?
@Bengals76 "I’d like to see a high-quality racing, shooter, and Madden come to the Nintendo Switch. Oh, add the web browser"
For the racing game, apparently Grid. I wouldn't know though, because they refuse to release it physical, and I refuse to buy it digital without a good discount.
@cptspaulding I assume you back up your SD card.. those things don't necessarily last forever!
Also, for those with the physical copy, they have the patches and updates installed to their SD card too. The argument is the same. In both instances, you only lose them if you choose to delete them off your card.
1. For a game like FM, where whoever playing it is, more often than not, so invested in football that they'll literally sink hundreds of hours into the game, why would those people want to purposely go into the eshop and buy a version that is obsolete, from an updated team/player perspective, anyway?
2. Even if the old versions were still up in the eshop, the publishers are under no obligation to reduce the price of the older games, just because a new version is out.
The way things are with the yearly releases, it is what it is.
The thing I'd like to see, are games like this transform to a service platform. Buy the base game (which could still be released yearly with the current team roster), then if you want the yearly roster update and already own the game, pay a reasonably reduced price to download the update.
I bought Touch last year, but I'm probably going to continue to skip this year completely and play something else. If I could just go with purchasing the update, they'd already have had my money.
@Majora101 I wouldn't use the word "condescending" about someone I don't know. People can have the own views about things, it doesn't bother me either way.
The reality is, like it or hate it, people vote with their wallets. They voted FIFA in five times. Time to move on with our lives.
@Majora101 "I see no reason not to have compared the act of repeatedly purchasing EA sports titles to the behavior of twelve year-olds — the average EA sports game player will tell you they simply want to have fun with these titles, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's fair to state however that most activities twelve year-olds engage in are probably for fun"
It's fair to state that most activities anyone, of any age group, choose to engage in are probably for fun. I don't think it's exclusive to people under the age of thirteen.
@Stocksy @sixrings Agreed. I noticed the thumbs down and honestly don't have a clue why.
Whoever it was, clearly has some kind of issue with someone enjoying playing a particular game.
I disagree with there being 'nothing wrong with FIFA'; FUT, in my opinion, is pretty egregious, and the full priced "roster update" on Switch FIFA 20 was in pretty poor taste (I actually paid about £20 for Switch FIFA 20 physical shortly after release, which would have been a reasonable price for a FIFA 19 roster update IMO).
As a game of football though, it's enjoyable and I've put somewhere around 250 hours into it so far this season.
I have Redux on PS4, but like so many games I've bought on PS4, I played it once and then never played it again. I'm just less inclined to sit down infront of my TV to play games (exception being Monster Hunter World/Iceborne).
To be fair, I enjoyed 2033 when I played it, and not playing it since is more about my game playing preferences, than about the game itself.
If it comes out physical for Switch and isn't broken/ported well, I'll probably get it so it can sit next to Doom in my collection.
@bonham2 NL couldn't possibly get that affiliate link money if they didn't link to Amazon though.
As a "guide" to purchasing eshop cards and to help "control your spending more effectively", it lacks any objectivity.
I get it. The site wants the affiliate money. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I just wish they'd be a bit more blatant about it, rather than wrapping it up all pretty and calling it a "guide".
@Big-Pepsi You actually said "have some class", though I can see you learned all by yourself how to use the edit feature. Well done you.

@CharlieGirl is entitled to her opinion. It's wrong. But she's entitled to it nevertheless.
I played Senran Kagura on Vita. I enjoyed it. I also don't really care what people think about me for playing it.
@Rayquaza2510 is right. Playing a game doesn't define who you are. I play Mortal Kombat, but I don't think about murdering people in an overly bloody and gory fashion. I also play Monster Hunter, but I don't have fantasies about going out into the wild to slay animals so i can turn them into giant swords.
@Big-Pepsi show some class yourself. All you're doing with your comment is trying to bait a response.
@nessisonett
I've been playing Monster Hunter since Freedom on PSP, and love 4U, but personally I think Iceborne has been the peak of the series so far. It's literally the only game I play on my (Rathalos edition) PS4 Pro.
@NorrinRadd
"And we definitely will NOT be spending any $$ within the game - no need."
So, the game isn't really for me, tried it and wasn't really that impressed. But from what I hear, this game is micro-transactions done right.
I used to play Warframe, and there was "no need" to spend any money playing it. But I did, because people worked and provided a game (that isn't predatory in nature) that I enjoyed.
If a game that's provided "free" is monetised the right way, I will ALWAYS spend (a sensible amount of) money if I play and enjoy it.
Of course, ultimately it's everyone's prerogative to decide if they choose to support a developer (even in a small way), or not.
@Joeynator3000 I completed the first four hunts, and pretty much just hack and slashed them, with the occasional no pressure dodge roll out of danger. Certainly hasn't scratched that Monster Hunter itch for me.. honestly, the only game that ever came close to doing that was Soul Sacrifice/Delta on Vita.
So, I downloaded it and gave it a try. I really don't think it's for me...
The hub area is a horrible blurry stuttering mess. The actual areas you fight in seem to improve the resolution and frame rate some though, but still not perfect. I played portable mode, so not really sure how it plays docked.
I also feel like the fighting itself has no feeling of weight or nuance to it... Maybe the nuance comes later on though?
Back to Monster Hunter I go.. to anyone undecided, it's free anyway, so it's worth giving it a try to see if it clicks with you more than it did for me.
@Mgene15 making comments like "Nintendo fanboys on here are half pregnant blah blah blah" just makes you look like you have the mental capacity of an 8 year old. Try offering something actually constructive?
If graphics are important to someone, that's great. If they're not important to someone, that's great too.
More a price drop as apposed to an actual a Black Friday deal, but I bought Mortal Kombat 11 (£22, Switch.. though I've seen it for £18 since). Also bought Bloodstained RotN (£16, Switch), and another year of PS Plus (£28).
I didn't get this (and another well received game.. I'm looking at you, Grid) due to digital only, and having a ridiculous backlog of games still to play between both my Switch and PS4 anyway.
Assuming the price is reasonable, I'm in though. It can sit with my other games and look pretty until the day comes that I'd finally get around to playing it. About the same time that I stop being obsessed by Monster Hunter.
No more hand cramps (I was still getting them occasionally even with the grip case I was using), and another vote on the full sized sticks! (Massively improves accuracy).
It's not perfect, but, for me, it's still the best option for handheld on the Switch that I've tried.

Re: Ubisoft Is Launching Five Triple-A Games Before April Next Year
What I'd really like to see Ubisoft do, is experiment with smaller games again, such as they did with Child of Light.
Smaller development costs wouldn't make them that much of a risk for a company like Ubi, and they would make perfect games for the Switch.

I could possibly see Scalebound happening. Perhaps not in its original form though.
I doubt we'll see anything like Nier come to Switch (or at least as part on the '4').
Perhaps Mad World or Vanquish (I'm sure Sega would play nicely for a percentage or a buy out of an IP they're doing nothing of note with).
I'd expect that another of the four will be from an IP we know, and the other two to be new IP.

Re: Review: Dauntless - A Monster Hunter Rival Which Suffers From Tech Issues On Switch
@Chayshirin The score confuses a "7" with a "6". Lots of confusion going on here.
Re: Co-Op Action-RPG Dauntless Launches Today On Switch
@Joeynator3000 I completed the first four hunts, and pretty much just hack and slashed them, with the occasional no pressure dodge roll out of danger. Certainly hasn't scratched that Monster Hunter itch for me.. honestly, the only game that ever came close to doing that was Soul Sacrifice/Delta on Vita.
Re: Co-Op Action-RPG Dauntless Launches Today On Switch
So, I downloaded it and gave it a try. I really don't think it's for me...
The hub area is a horrible blurry stuttering mess. The actual areas you fight in seem to improve the resolution and frame rate some though, but still not perfect. I played portable mode, so not really sure how it plays docked.
I also feel like the fighting itself has no feeling of weight or nuance to it... Maybe the nuance comes later on though?
Back to Monster Hunter I go.. to anyone undecided, it's free anyway, so it's worth giving it a try to see if it clicks with you more than it did for me.
Re: Co-Op Action-RPG Dauntless Launches Today On Switch
@Kang81 I thought about trying it out on PS4... But 1,330+ hours in World/Iceborne stopped me.
I might give it a go on Switch though.. I think the art style, to me at least, seems like it might shine on a smaller screen?
Re: Co-Op Action-RPG Dauntless Launches Today On Switch
@Kinoen
You mean like Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate?
Re: Video: Alien Isolation Looks Better On Switch Than PS4, Says Digital Foundry
@Mgene15 making comments like "Nintendo fanboys on here are half pregnant blah blah blah" just makes you look like you have the mental capacity of an 8 year old. Try offering something actually constructive?
If graphics are important to someone, that's great. If they're not important to someone, that's great too.
Re: Talking Point: What Did You Pick Up On Black Friday And Cyber Monday?
More a price drop as apposed to an actual a Black Friday deal, but I bought Mortal Kombat 11 (£22, Switch.. though I've seen it for £18 since). Also bought Bloodstained RotN (£16, Switch), and another year of PS Plus (£28).
Re: Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition Is Receiving A Limited Run Release On Switch
Re: Fed Up Of Your Switch Not Having A Proper D-Pad? This Case Should Do The Trick
Another vote for the Hori Split Pad Pro.
No more hand cramps (I was still getting them occasionally even with the grip case I was using), and another vote on the full sized sticks! (Massively improves accuracy).
It's not perfect, but, for me, it's still the best option for handheld on the Switch that I've tried.
Oh. And the D-Pad on it is pretty reasonable too.
