Re: Photorealistic Graphics Didn't Match Welcoming Nature Of Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee

NintendoHistory

I was five years old when I played Pokémon Blue. I'm not gonna lie, I found it pretty difficult. But that's why I loved it. Any time I beat a gym or my rival, I felt a wave of accomplishment overtake me. The game was my everything. Heck, I even used it to help myself get better at reading! And this brings me to my opinion on Gamefreak'making the music "friendlier." So what's going to happen to Lavender Town? As I mentioned, I was five when I first played Pokémon Blue. From the second I entered Lavender Town, I knew something was off. The NPC dialogue freaked me out, the infamous music was haunting, and having to face the fact that Pokémon can die was something that will stick with me forever. Now I will admit, these factors did in fact scare me as a child. Every time I'd replay the game, I'd shut off the sound and rush through Lavender Town as quick as possible. Yet, I have the fondest memories of Lavender Town more than anything else in the game. And there's the beauty; An 8-bit adventure left an impression on me that I'll never forget. Gamefreak made me feel. Now you might be thinking that I hate these new games, but I honestly don't. I simply wish for the kids experiencing Pokémon for the first time through these new game are left with the same impressions Blue left on me. I feel that, for the lack of a better term, censoring the game will leave a gaping hole in the overall experience. I hope this is not the case. I really hope they keep the things that challenged not only my ability, but also my emotions. If they end up taking out Marowak's tragic story, or heck even the Pokémon Tower entirely, I understand why. But I hope they end up keeping it in. I love Pokémon and I feel so excited for the new generation of kids that'll fall in love with it the same way I did with Pokémon Blue.

Re: Telltale's The Walking Dead Seasons 1, 2 And 3 Are All Coming To Switch This Year

NintendoHistory

@Ryu_Niiyama
I played the first and second season.
The first was very disappointing. The pacing was bad, it took so long to complete the most simple objectives. And despite being a game that's all about how your actions affect the story, the ending is the same no matter what decisions you've made. I personally don't like how Telltale handled this.
They appeared to have fixed this in season 2, but alas, the "different endings" of this season have minimal impact going onto the third.
I'd say save your money. If you have a PS4, I'd recommend Until Dawn. It's like this game, but (much) better graphics, better pace, and unlike The Walking Dead, your choices actually matter in this game.

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

I find myself agreeing with most, if not all, of the points made here; especially with what you said about the last two generations "I've played through Pokémon Y and Pokémon Sun thoroughly and have felt somewhat disappointed during both occasions." I enjoy them, but I can't help but find myself having less fun when playing X/Y + Sun/Moon in comparisons to the previous entries.
And yes; mega evolutions, ultra beasts, z-moves, and especially Klefki are all aspects I could live without.
Aside from that, I don't know if anyone else agrees with me on this, but I simply do not like Fairy types.

Re: Review: Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS)

NintendoHistory

@Arcamenel
I completely agree with your points.
I guess the thing I'm worried about is if it's as difficult as Gen 6, or on the level of Gen 4. By comparison, I could replay Gen 4 over and over again, but it still maintains its fair difficulty meter because the NPC's are simply smarter. Meanwhile, I find myself gliding through Gen 6 without even seeing what move I'm using. There is definitely a presence of a more "kid-friendly," or a downward curve in difficulty in Gen 6.

@Gridatttack
Despite the review, I can't help but feel as though the difficulty is still not on par with the first few gens. Since you already have played the game, could you voice your opinion on the difficulty meter?

Re: Nintendo Outlines Key Goals to Ensure NX Success

NintendoHistory

-.- "great relationship with Ubisoft" you say? NO!
Seriously, how could he say that when the only game Ubisoft will publish on the Wii U is Just Dance. Nintendo, Ubisoft has let you down multiple times whether it be the Rayman Legends fiasco or the fact that they've said that they'll "only publish family friendly titles for Wii U from now on", which means no titles from upcoming and past games in series such as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs.
This is the problem Nintendo, you don't understand what a "great relationship" entitles.

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Like to See From Pokémon Sun and Moon?

NintendoHistory

The one thing that matters to me most is the need for a higher level difficulty. Pokémon has always been for everyone, not just kids. X&Y and ORAS were just way too easy as compared to previous entries in the series. There should definitely be several difficulty modes in the game. Also I'd love to see more diverse gyms leaders and elite four members. By this I mean I'd like their teams to not focus on one type. For example in Diamond&Pearl, Volkner had two electric types, but also a normal type and a water type. So no, you couldn't just use a ground type to take out his team, his diversity made the battle so much better. Finally we need a new type solely to balance out the fairy type, because that's the OP type now, not dragon.
EDIT: Let me further expand upon the whole gym thing. I think there should be a restriction on the amount of members you can use during the battle. Like in the anime, where Ash can only use the same amount of Pokémon as the gym leader uses. Also in the anime, we see Gary have 10 gym badges. What if there were more gyms in the game and you decided which 8 you wanted to take on? And I definitely agree with the mid-battle evolution idea, I've been wanting that for a while now

Re: Poll: Are You Confident About Nintendo's 3DS Focus for 2016?

NintendoHistory

I love my 3DS so much, but seriously, other then Pokemon, Kirby, and some JRPGs, the lineup is looking very poor. I really wish Nintendo would put some more heart into their awesome handheld!
(I dare someone to tell me that Sonic Boom Fire & Ice counts...)
Also Metroid Prime FF might not be bad... AND BLAST BALL

Re: Review: Bravely Second: End Layer (3DS)

NintendoHistory

Bravely Default was a game I was surprised to have loved so much. I bought it on whim, and don't regret spending a single penny. I'm so glad that what I'm hearing from the sequel is mostly great, because I can't wait to delve back into this awesome world!!

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's 2015?

NintendoHistory

@darthllama While I completely agree with everything you've said, I'm going to have to go against your opinion on the 3DS support (just my opinion on it). Overall I'd say Nintendo completely neglected the 3DS this year. Though people will argue that it had a slew of games, it only has TWO big ones, Majora's Mask and Xenoblade 3D, but still those were both remakes/ports. Let's face it, Tri Force Heroes, AC Happy Home Designer, and Codename Steam just didn't do it for me and many other people. And as for the New 3DS, Nintendo went against their promise of exclusives with the only two games for the handheld being Xenoblade and The Binding of Isaac.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's 2015?

NintendoHistory

Nintendo only released big games this year (not including games already out in Japan ***FIRE EMBLEM***) and one of the games was a remake... Very disappointing year overall. I only used my Wii U primarily for Smash and Splatoon and my 3DS hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.

Re: Review: Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains (3DS)

NintendoHistory

@Bat-Moves98
Thanks!
And I'm so sorry, but I already downloaded the theme yesterday...
But there might be a chance that Atlus/Nintendo will release the theme separately for purchase. If not, the game will definitely be on sale soon enough, and I suggest you give it a try! (Be warned though, the game takes up SO MUCH space...)
Once again sorry for not being of help, but good luck to getting the theme!

Re: Review: Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains (3DS)

NintendoHistory

Alright, after a day of playing the game, I have concluded that it's pretty good.
The camera is faulty, but after playing Kid Icarus Uprising for hundreds of hours (not kidding, that game is my life), I got used to the camera controls.
My only big complaint is the critical hits, which are timed randomly and don't work every time.
Overall I'd say to only get this game if your an Attack on Titan fan.
Salute The Wings of Freedom!!

Re: Feature: Five Reasons To Choose Wii U This Holiday Season

NintendoHistory

No these are not the right reasons to buy a Wii U... Except for their games.
Nintendo knows how to make real games. We don't need war time or gta-esc games. We need games that bring out our imagination, ones that make us happy and not rage, the games that when we're older and re-play them, make a tear run down our face as we relive childhood memories.
