@SSB4Life_get_it No. in Europe there is no amiibo pack with all three Splatoon amiibo. The squid amiibo is only available within the Limited Edition of the game. Which is what they advertise here.
@ikki5 All the available amiibo on amazon.ca are about $14. And the only reason the difference with games is so small right now, is because the Euro dropped significantly the last few months. It's not always been that way. Games on other consoles are 70€ btw. So yes, even now you have it cheaper most of the time.
@ikki5 I never said it will make 7 million, read again. I said it was trending at that specific moment towards that. That is no prediction, it is mathematics. And no, kickstarters don't only decrease over time, the last few days usually make not much less than the first ones and interest is increasing rapidly again. Another thing you didn't even consider is the fact that in other places of the world credit cards (which you need to pledge on kickstarter) are not very common. So now that you can pledge using Paypal the project can be supported by a much larger group of people.
@ikki5 ONCE there is a game cheaper in Europe than in NA and you are getting the finger, lol. If you are jealous of European prices I invite you to come over and enjoy the great prices for amiibo (over CDN$ 20 each, which is a third more than the price you pay!) or other games. Overall NA is still the region of the whole Western world with the cheapest video game prices; and that's including Canada. Get some perspective and stop the whining, geez.
@ikki5 Ehh... Kickstarters make not much less in the last few days than in the first. This one will make at least $5,000,000, if not more.
According to Kicktraq it's trending towards around $7 million at the moment.
@Einherjar I'm not arguing with you regarding the BMjP or German youth protection in general, because I agree with you. The system needs an overhaul. All I'm saying is, that all of your criticism is not really the fault of the USK. They don't have much flexibility with their decisions, as there are exact guidelines what kind of content may not get an USK rating.
@RCMADIAX Yes, it is. At least as long as your game is bigger than 250mb. Indie games with a budget below 200,000€ cost 1,155€ for certification plus additional 1,050€ for every other platform with PEGI. If the budget for the game was higher you can add ~1000€ to that. With USK you pay 1,200€ for one system and additional 300€ for every other system the game will be released on. So for most Indie-developers the USK should be cheaper than PEGI... which is pretty impressive if you consider, that the USK at least play the games they rate, other than PEGI.
@Quirky Rating boards across the globe worked together to develop IARC. Do you honestly think Politicians are not awere of its existence? Lol
@RainbowGazelle They've enlarged the logo only a few years ago. They won't suddenly reduce its size again.
@Einherjar Lol, what? First of all, the USK is waaaaay cheaper than PEGI and the Australian rating system. Secondly, they don't censor stuff. Publishers do it by themselves to avoid high age ratings or to secure they receive one. The only problem is, that the BPjM can index software that doesn't have an age rating. Otherwise Publishers wouldn't feel forced to self-censor their games. That's not the fault of the USK, though.
@NintyMan That's not what he said, though. You can expand the current world from within or unlock new worlds (books) from the hub world. At least, that's how I understand it. It wouldn't make much sense, if the different worlds, that are supposed to be books, would be interconnected with each other. Books are not interconnected.
@DESS-M-8 That's rubbish. Nintendo is doing WAAAY better in France, Germany and even Spain and Italy than in the UK. That's also nothing new. The UK is the only country of those in which Sega was way more popular than Nintendo in the early 90s. Sega was basically non-existent in Germany. "To play Nintendo games" has been a synonym for playing video games in general until the PS2 became popular. Even now the Wii U has about half the shelf space of PS3 and PS4 combined and way more than Xbox here. Combined with the DS, 3DS and Wii Nintendo still got the biggest shelf space where I live, while I didn't even find any Nintendo games OR consoles in stores in the UK. Nintendo is basically non-existent there.
@DESS-M-8 It failed in the UK. Why would Nintendo consider the UK market, when they start developing a game? Even high profile Nintendo releases don't sell there. I'm surprised NoE didn't pull the plug on the UK market yet.
@Starwolf_UK "European titles (especially of Kirby games) tend to be more literal and dry. I feel the reason is because some customers won't have an excellent knowledge of English."
You are aware that other European countries don't even use the English title right? In Germany for example it's "Kirby und der Regenbogenpinsel".
@XyVoX
1. The game can be played on the TV. You just have to use the multiplayer mode.
2. I suspect most people buy good games so they can play good games. I can imagine that's different in the UK though, since only FIFA seems to sell up there.
@rjejr You know, they don't just throw a game onto the shelves, once translations are done. There are many more important factors to consider when a game should be released. Europe had to wait three extra months for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and I can assure you European translations were completed before it was even released in the US.
@Ichiban This has nothing to do with Nintendo. It's common sense. Sony and Microsoft would do the same with a install base as small as this. And if you want to play the game after a few weeks without waiting 15 minutes to find other players, you should be GLAD they are doing it the way they do.
@BlueNitrous You buy the figurine, because you want the figurine and NOT because of the bonus bits you can get in games. Those are far from meaningful enough to make anyone feel forced to buy amiibo. Don't want to collect them, don't do. You are not missing out on much.
Oh and btw- Disney Infinity and Skylanders are way more extreme than amiibo and there is no backlash either.
@Bolt_Strike There are also single player and local multiplayer modes. If you talk about online only, keep in mind that Nintendo doesn't know how well the game'll do. If they offer too many modes on launch, they'll risk they'll all end up empty in case it flops.
@Ichiban Yeah, that's why the rest of the game is as polished as it is. Because there was no time, lol. Nintendo is releasing stuff over a period of time to keep your interest in the game. They probably wouldn't even do this, if the install base of the Wii U wouldn't be so small. As it is now it's safe to say only a few people would play the game still after a few weeks, which is the death for every online-centered game. THAT is the reason they are spreading out the content, not because they are not ready.
@RedDevilAde Because Playtonic has some Key-members of the BK development team on board and there are not that many more who worked also on the game. So in a sense we know they contributed quite a bit to whatever made Banjo Kazooie as charming as it ended up.
@mrchills Nintendo has to stretch out releases as much as they do, because most third parties don't have any interest to publish their games on the VC- especially in the West. That's also the reason why Nintendo didn't add all systems immediately to the service. They only started offering GBA games when most of their own NES and SNES back catalog has been released.
@FlaygletheBagel
"But the fact that this is a competitive team shooter that practically requires team cooperation and communication to win, and you can't even communicate... That's a bit of a problem. It's not like Smash or Mario Kart where you're kind of doing your own thing. This is a team game and to cut off communication between players is like cutting off this game's potential at the knees."
Not really. The gamepad gives you all the information you need.
@Grumblevolcano The translation offices have been in Frankfurt for many years. Doesn't make sense that this would cause such a delay. Especially, since Kirby games don't even have much text to translate. Kirby games also have a history to get delayed in Europe, because they are not really popular here. I'm confident NoE decided to push the game back, because some data showed it wouldn't do good in February.
@AshFoxX It's not nostalgia. The level design in YNI was boring and uninspired, the music was dreadful, all in all it was way too easy (except for bonus stages). I never played YIDS, but the baby system is apparently tedious (which I can imagine) and the level design far from the greatness that was the original YI.
@Tsurii897 @Tisteg80 @Flopsy86 According to NoA amiibo compatibility page the yarn yoshi amiibo will work with all games the other yoshi amiibo worked with. There are no information regarding Yoshi's Woolly World yet, though.
@Flopsy86: You can use all amiibo with different games simultaneously as long as only one of those writes data on it. Currently there are only two games that write data on amiibo: Super Smash Bros and Mario Party 10. Just as the majority of amiibo compatible games, Yoshi's Woolly World only reads the amiibo data, so you could use your other yoshi amiibo as well (in case it will end up working with YWW, which we don't know yet for sure).
