@Wavey84 agree. Or maybe Sega should release planet harriers. That’s was a 2000 arcade only sequel that’s never been on anything. The game is absolute class as well. Why Sega isn’t putting some of these never before released stuff on the AGES line is anyone’s guess.

Interesting little article. This market of gaming has exploded over the last few years and more and more fly by nights are being attracted by the smell of money. The herd will thin out soon enough as people will figure out which companies to trust.

I don’t know how activision has gotten away relatively Scott free from criticism while EA has gotten blasted. Activision is just as bad if not worse. Yet another company I simply won’t buy games from due to their immoral way of fleecing the customer. EA, Activision and 2k are the pits

I enquired here with Nintendo uk and they also told me to cough up those queen quids. Hope this changes

@Kit if you are uk based be prepared for disappointment. They confirmed that the policy has changed in the states and they are fixing free of charge but NOT in the uk. So they are only fixing it where they are getting sued

As great as this is, what’s the point of this if it just starts happening again a few months down the line? This is only good if they have solved the problem and will swap out the old guts for one without the inherent flaw, if that’s even possible.

If they have re-designed the controllers then I will def pick one up or maybe even one of the new switch revisions but if they are the same then absolutely no way. I’m a massive Nintendo fanboy but this issue is the only time I’ve been really really cheesed off with them over. It’s an absolute liberty that they released them in that state and then have the gall to charge people for repairs out of warranty for a faulty product.

As for my joycons. I play my switch in a hermetically sealed room while in a full hazmat suit and STILL got the drift problem.

@FiveDigitLP think it depends. If it’s just a port then it’s a serious why release that one situation. However if it’s being remade, they potentially could take a not very good game and massively improve it. So yeah depends on the amount of work being done I guess

Def interested in getting this but will wait for a sale. Think at 15 quid it’s slightly overpriced, especially as you can get the contra collection for basically the same.

Wonder if they have upgraded or changed the joystick internals as the joycons are really really flimsy and stick drift is terrible on them.

Of course he’s defending them. EA are making BILLIONS from having them in their games. He’s being given multi million pound bonuses from them, as if he’d say anything to disparage them. If we thought they were bad, wait till we get hit by the new subscription wave and ‘access not ownership’ model.

This looks great. Love contra and this looks like it massively owes its existence to it. Look forward to seeing if this is good.

@geox30 agree. The switch badly needs other types of racers. EA missed a trick not putting burnout paradise on the switch as there is a dearth of good racers on here.

@DABYX agree, there is nearly no alternatives to these games now. Back in the day there used to be a ton. The lack of competition has made the main developers lazy and greedy.

Sports games and fighters are really leading the way with regard to nickel and diming people with selling cut content back to players and now in game ads. What has happened here? I used to love both of these genres now I stay away like they have the plague. Such a shame

@HumanDog fair point. I did say some of the content on there as i did think size could be a problem(gonna avoid the obvious joke). We have had turok on switch though.

I’d be amazed if Microsoft don’t try to put at least some of the content on rare replay on the switch at some point. It’s guaranteed to make them cash . Most the stuff on there is synonymous with Nintendo platforms and fans would be all over it.

That Ubisoft presentation was awful. Someone tell these game companies that people want to see gameplay rather than cinematics all the time. So boring.

You get out what you put in. If you put in a half hearted effort like EA did then what does it expect to get out of it. Honestly I truly think they don’t want to work with Nintendo at this point as they have had plenty of games that could have been brought over and would have done very very well yet they choose not to. Burnout paradise for example. Considering the dearth of good racers on the switch this would have sold very very well and being based on an old title would have been an easy conversion yet they choose not to. Sad

Yet when it doesn’t sell well they will say that the market isn’t there on the switch. What a joke.

Sounds like a decent game and the fact that it’s 35 quid is very nice. I’ll probably hold off and see how crash team holds up first before buying one or the other. Gotta be realistic I don’t need three of them

Man i miss this era of Star Wars games. They had so many good ones coming out one after another. Such a shame that licence is stuck with EA now. I really feel that stunts the creativity and variety we used to get.

@Wavey84 well at least they tried. Most game adverts these days just show pre rendered scenes that aren’t even indicative of the in game graphics and gameplay. They have at least tried something of a throw back.

@magnumc500 haha yeah I’ve seen that. It’s by the same guy who did Mandy(which is also an interesting watch). I worked at blockbuster for over 10 years. I’ve seen and have an interest in all kinds of stuff. All lot of the time the smaller releases are some of the better ones.

@magnumc500 I saw rubber as it’s directed by Mr Ozio a French electronic music producer who’s always interesting. It was fun. Thought ghostbusters was average at best. Really didn’t stand out to me. I don’t mind a B movie at all if it’s done well but Doom doesn’t looks great at all. If there is one genre that you really don’t need a large budget for it’s horror. You can easily produce an excellent horror on a shoestring budget but what you do need is talent, I’m not sold that the director has that. We’ll see though.

@magnumc500 good luck. The best I think you can hope for is a ‘so bad it’s good’ scenario.

@subpopz it’s really quality. The controls may have aged a bit but the actual game is just brilliant. Right mix of everything. Tension, fear, action and camp ness.

@Galarian_Lassie yeah exactly this. It’s a massive pain waiting to hear when they will finally make it over here. Waiting on virtua racing.
