Re: Todd Howard Says Bethesda Will “Certainly Be Doing Things" With Switch In The Future

@NewAdvent I know what you mean but I do have hopes that the switch will be different. I think it’s been a slow build with Nintendo that has seen large third parties, for a variety of reasons , be very alienated from putting stuff out on Nintendo’s consoles. Increased cost due to cartridges on the n64 started it, then u had the small storage and specialist GameCube discs, then the underpowered Wii etc etc. Nintendo seem to have tried a bit harder this time to lure them back but ultimately money talks.

They will go off sales numbers. Skyrim has sold well but Doom and wolfenstein 2 I have no idea. I always feel that it’s an unfair gauge the way third parties judge support on Nintendo’s last few consoles. They release paired down or really really late ports and then wonder why the numbers aren’t huge. I’d love to see them release a new game same day and date as the other consoles and see how well it sells. If it’s still low then I guess we are to blame.

@gcunit totally agree. I’ll be buying it as to play this on the go is fantastic and I actually want further Bethesda releases. We really need to support games like this. They really have done a great job as well. Could understand if they had rushed out some garbage but it’s flat out amazing that this game can now be played on a train.

@XenoShaun this is a Nintendo news site and this is stuff that’s going on in the world of Nintendo right now so it’s in their perview to report it. That’s like saying if the news reports a murder they are promoting murder. It’s not how it works. Also there is such a thing as bad publicity. If you read 5 reviews of the same game saying it’s pants you are hardly more inclined to buy it.

@Joker13z all the Wii u games being ported are well worth playing as they are excellent titles. If you’ve not played them then pretty much all of them are worth a buy to be honest. I think the year hasn’t been totally terrible otherwise but not brilliant. Kirby was ok, mario tennis seems to be ok but I personally won’t get it unless they sort that online out as it has real problems, smash and Pokémon look good but I feel they were one or two titles away from having a very good year. In contrast 2019 now looks great potentially.

@Joker13z May possibly be due to people not feeling that there haven’t been enough worthwhile games coming out of Nintendo for year 2 of the switch. Honestly don’t think people would comment on it if they felt they had gotten enough from Nintendo. It personally doesn’t bother me as they are great games. The argument on whether or not Nintendo has forfilled expectations in the second year is another argument.
