@subpopz honestly play it. The game is phenomenal just not worth 30 quid at this point when you can pick it up much cheaper. The game is fantastic though.
@impurekind I agree that the 3 button controller is more iconic but I think they shouldn’t have put street fighter 2 on it if they wanted to stick with that. The point of a plug and play for me is that everything you need should be in the box. You shouldn’t need to go out and buy addition joypads to play certain games put on the console properly. Maybe they should have released two versions. One premium with the 6 button pads and a few different games and one with the 3 button ones. The fact that japan gets the 6 button ones is curious in the fact that the megadrive wasn’t half as successful there as it was in the West so surprised they get a subjectively ‘better’ package.
It’s really not rocket science, there is a ceiling on how many times people will keep buying the same titles again and again, definitive or not. Considering how many games sega have in the locker, many of which have never been ported or had arcade perfect conversions, it’s puzzling the choice they have made up till now. Did we really need sonic 1 again?? Start giving us Saturn titles, arcade perfect titles like revenge of death adder, outrunners, scud race, Daytona 2 etc. These will sell as they have t been released a thousand times before
@Shiryu that is a bizarre collection. Why haunted castle is on what is basically a shooters collection is just baffling. Also the region changes to each title are so significant in some cases that there should be an option to switch between the two. I hope we get additional collections from Konami as such a small numbers of titles doesn’t really show the scope of konami’s fantastic back catalogue.
@Shiryu yeah that’s the one. As soon as you shoot it the screen goes into slow motion it’s unbelievable. I actually don’t think I’ve ever played this game without any slowdown. Would be great to get a full gradius collection with all that fixed.
It’s amazing the bad behaviour people want to dismiss just so they get their video games as quickly as possible. This isn’t just a video game industry problem, this is something that has gotten worse and worse in most sectors since the banking crash a number of years back. Corporations used that to dial back pay and hike up work hours under the disguise of ‘we all have to work together to get through this’ as the economy has improved conditions and pay haven’t. People have seen job benefits that used to be standard shaved away, sick pay, Christmas bonuses and parties etc. We should be grateful we have a job....yeah right.
@YANDMAN yeah I wish we’d get a compilation as well but it looks like those days are gone. They love milking the single releases stuff for more than what they should be. Think as it’s M2 doing all of these they are perfectionists so take their time. They are probably bogged down with work as well. As well as all these titles they are on the megadrive mini as well.
@YANDMAN totally agree. There has to be a ceiling on how many times SEGA can release the same titles and achieve great sales from them. They should have been expanding their portfolio for years but it’s been the same megadrive/genesis collections and mediocre sonic games year after year while they sit on the games and franchises that people really want to see come back. Hopefully they will be a bit braver and release those arcade classics that never got home ports as id snap them up, as would many people I think.
@YANDMAN I think the ages titles are slightly overpriced plus I really think that there is point where people get a little tired of getting the same titles. They really have an opportunity to bring back some titles that either haven’t been released in years or at all but so far some of the choices has been a bit standard. I think that megadrive classic plug n play will sell boatloads as well.
Need for speed is nowhere near as bad as some pretty much all the other video game movies it’s just massively average and forgettable. That double dragon film is absolutely terrible. So is the DOA one but weirdly enjoyable
@LuciferOnReddit I bought the physical release at Christmas as it was so cheap that I couldn’t say no. Not played it yet but what will I have to additionally buy to get through the game? How much additional stuff will I have to buy?
Strange that they did a staggered reveal for this considering it’s quite a standard line up. Hopefully we will get a second and third volume with the others on there. Kid Dracula is a great inclusion.
Looks lovely, premium sanwa parts but with only 16 games and it’s not like you can use the stick on other systems it’s too expensive for my tastes. The titles on it are great though. Hope they see the light of day on other releases.
Also playing two player on that thing may be a bit awkward.
@Kalmaro yeah it would be great to have some kind of package come out with a load of classics on there. My bro has a huge retro set up with a super game boy etc and the games have aged really well. A lot of good games on that little wonder
Was gonna get this but I was really hoping for single player content like power tour on the GBA to supplement the multiplayer. The single player on this was really not too great. Still a decent game though
@hoopderscotch good to know as I really had no clue on what was normal or good numbers for a yoshi game. I knew Kirby’s bench mark but not yoshi. Thanks
How did Woolley world sell over there? Are those yoshi sales low? I really don’t know. Expecting high sales from spring onwards as there are a huge amount of releases coming up.
Are those numbers low for yoshi? I really don’t know. Game looks beautiful though and I look forward to picking it up. Need a easy going relaxing game.
@Onion totally agree. That collection was so poorly put together and I was really on the fence about getting this at first, despite loving sega and the megadrive, but seeing that M2 was doing it sold me immediately. Will def buy this now
@RetroTyGuy each to their own I guess. I think Mario is the superior platformer and you think Alex Kidd. I had a Alex Kidd on master system and the mega drive and thought it was above average but not great. Thought psycho fox was way better on the MS
@RetroTyGuy I grew up with this game and just cuz it’s well known and a classic doesn’t make it an 8. The orginal super Mario bros must be a straight 10 or 11 out of 10 then based on this as it was wayyyyyy better than this game.
@holygeez03 I see what you mean but I disagree. It’s part of its package and longevity. If a platform game has only 4 levels it would get marked down for being too short so it’s kinda the same with a fighter. Only 5 stages and 9 fighters could get boring pretty quickly so should impact the score. This is only my opinion though
They really are cutting off their noses to spite their faces with this direction that fighting game are taking. They may make more money in the short term but this is gonna massively shrink these games audiences. I’m a huge SF fan but this kind of stuff just makes me not want to buy these games.
If it works well then I’m impressed by it on a technical level but this worries me greatly on where gaming is going. I have a horrible feeling that this type of gaming will be forced on us all eventually. They always hated the second hand game market as they couldn’t make more money, this will kill all that. As for the presentation it was very sterile to say the least.
Been wanting a collection like this for ages. Can’t wait to see the line up. Hope it will have them all but guessing it will just be the mainline console ones. Will be gutted if it’s just the two lords of shadow games put in a package though.

“Not enough cash”.......cuz it’s too expensive.

@Shiryu if I remember rightly it’s especially bad if you get the laser.
Re: Random: Someone's Working To Fix SNES Shooter Gradius III's Slowdown Issues
@Shiryu I was joking😂. It’s notorious bad. I had it on the SNES and it slows to a crawl. Sarcasm doesn’t work in text sometimes. Video looks great 👍🏻
Re: Random: Someone's Working To Fix SNES Shooter Gradius III's Slowdown Issues
What slowdown? Must be subtle
