I just played the demo version and am very disappointed. I love the original lunar lander, but this game doesn't feel very polished with controls that don't fit the corridor gameplay, and the "stress" mechanic feels tacked on.
@Zulzar I'd say it gives you the joy of racing but takes away many of its complexities - just focus on dodging cars, taking curves in time and do some simple boost/fuel management. And for older folks like me it also plays into nostalgia, as its gameplay, looks and music are straight out of early 90s titles like Top Gear, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge & Outrun.
@BulbasaurusRex I mean that a f2p game needs to somehow make the money back. If you are lucky then selling cosmetic items is enough, and you are right: that's easy to ignore.
What I am afraid of is the stuff you see in mobile games, where you can either grind XP for an item, or just buy the XP. Maybe you remember the drama about EAs Battlefront 2? A developer that needs to squeeze more money from a game might just nudge you to buy its XP packages via unreasonable grind requirements. So I worry that a f2p game would be finetuned to "sell microtransactions", and not to "be as fun as possible".
A free2play game will ALWAYS try to nudge you into paying money , which means the game experience won't be as good as it can be. I'll definitely pass this one.
I miss Crazy Taxi so much, I even bought the terrible "Taxi Chaos", a car game where you can't even drift. How difficult can it be to bring out a new instalment? It's really not THAT complex of a game, is it??
@sketchturner this made me look up which fps were in the 90s... and that list goes from "Wolfenstein 3D" to "Half-Life", "Quake" and "Unreal". The 90s had so many tech jumps it's crazy.
"Luto is working with a friend to bring this vision to life and plans to release it to the public." Are you suuuuure about Nintendo being okay with it?
I didn't like how little racing there actually is, often you can only properly steer your vehicle for small parts of the race, half of the time you are just "watching spectacle".
I might still buy it, I love creative local co-op! This review kinda answers one question I had - are builder and driver working together, or is the builder trying to crash the driver?
I had read that these ports will not scroll as smoothly as the Amiga Originals, something about the Hz not converting easily. Can someone comment on framerates or scrolling speed? Is it a technically sound port?
I played the first one for a bit and hated it. You are in the same damn house all game long running up and down the stairs to solve contrived puzzles, gameplay rarely changes, and it's very ugly looking. -_- The 2nd game needs to be a lot better for me to give it a chance.
@Brady1138 I had heard so many good things about Subnautica and was also surprised how cheap the cover looks. I hope they come up with something new for the physical release.
@Shiryu You mean that long bullet hell sequence? I discovered it by now, but only beat it on "skilled" (not hardcore) and by using the dark matter gun which eats enemy bullets. While the rest of the game was polished enough, that fight felt a bit cheap and drawn out.
I have just beaten 1993 Shenandoah on "hardcore" last night. The other modes are pointless, it's like playing with training wheels.
I had fun, and it is the most Amiga like game I have played since selling my A1200 - more so than Gunlord X.
Some gameplay elements seem not thought out well - like what's the point of having different small ships? How many hits can my jet actually take? Zero on hardcore, but on the easier difficulties?
Saw some bugs too, on hardcore it sometimes deletes your save after a game over, and after a restart it's there again? Why do you sometimes respawn at the rightmost edge of the screen? A "secret level" is just a level you have beaten already? I also had the "Boss just flies away" bug.
@60frames-please It doesn't run on 60fps, I finished it yesterday and there are sub-30fps moments with certain enemies (some lay lots of mines, which seems to slow the game down).
If 60fps are essential for you, better avoid this title.
that's a bad trailer. What's with this elevator music with the railshooting action? I'll wait for a review, but I'd really like to see another Star Fox, or Astro Dog, or Space Cat, or Void Squirrel.

Re: Review: Astronite - 1-Bit Metroidvania Adventuring With A Dash Of Dark Souls
Where is this a ZX Spectrum-looking game if it doesn't have the strong purple and yellow colors?
Re: Sega Wants To Know What Mini Console Fans Would Like To See Next
@joey302 It was a driving game where you cannot drift. I feel that is a crime in itself.
Re: Sega Wants To Know What Mini Console Fans Would Like To See Next
I just want a new port of Crazy Taxi for Switch.
I was so desperate I even bought Taxi Chaos.
Re: Exocide Is A Snappy, Stylish FPS That Would Be Right At Home On GameCube
Hah, I will never forget "Nemac IV", an fps released on the Commodore Amiga in 1996 that also had four weapons firing at the same time.

Not saying it was great, but it had the four guns at once.
Re: Spiders With Laser Swords? Oh Heck, Sign Us Up, Please!
Looks fun; I'm in! Let's hope I can get the right kind of friends to play it with me...
Re: Horizon Chase Turbo Gets Blown Wide Open With New Free 'Adventures Mode'
@Zulzar ah yeah, I know the feeling of "really wanting to like something". Maybe there'll be another game soon that hits the spot better.

@AG_Awesome yes, I was hoping for a smooth framerate too!

Re: Back Page: Making The Perfect Nintendo Frankenconsole
Nobody mentioned multiplayer capabilities! I liked the 4 ports of both Gamecube and N64, I was quite sure they'd at least be brought up.

Switch Sales down in double-digit percentages? Sorry folks, it's over. Nintendoomed.

I still don't know what the actual game looks like!

How about Commando and Paradroid?

I might still buy it, I love creative local co-op! This review kinda answers one question I had - are builder and driver working together, or is the builder trying to crash the driver?
Looks like it's the former, I prefer that.
Re: Can't Drive This Is Co-op Racing Platformer, And It's Crashing Onto Switch This Month
So are people working together or against each other?
As in, am I trying to build a track to make sure my friend doesn't fail, or am I trying to have him fail?
Re: #DRIVE Is A Gorgeous Endless-Driver Game Inspired By '80s Action Films
The article doesn't mention this is a mobile port... I'm still curious, but a bit less so now.
Re: Multiplayer Vehicle Combat Game Drive Buy Speeds Onto Switch Next Month
nice! I like it and will buy it for the couch multiplayer.
Wait, does it have splitscreen??
Re: Review: Turrican Flashback - An Annoyingly Incomplete Collection That's Still Worth A Look
@robr I had a word processor on my Amiga! I think...Wordworth? Oh, and Deluxe Paint.
Re: Review: Turrican Flashback - An Annoyingly Incomplete Collection That's Still Worth A Look
@RupeeClock Thank you for explaining! I really needed a refresh on the 50/60Hz issue. I live in Germany, and had an Amiga myself for a long time.

YES PLEASE!!!
I've been waiting for a new Crazy Taxi for a long time.

this color and design reminds me of the OUYA. Maybe they're building a new one!!!

Re: More Dark Is A Puzzle-Platformer 'Intended For Adults', And It Launches On Switch This Week
I haven't seen a single novel idea in this trailer. :/
I am not sold, except for the artwork of the sexy lady.
Re: Review: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered - A Racer From A More Innocent Time
I hated Burnout Paradise and its open world nonsense. This is the game for me... BUT why just 30fps? Paradise manages 60, Need for Speed should too.
Re: Team17's Worms Series Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
I had the original Amiga Version! For...49,- DM. So long ago. ^^;

Damn it! I preordered this at the first opportunity, dazzled by the original trailers, and now this!
Re: Video: This Might Just Be The Greatest Guardian Kill We've Ever Seen In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
I played through BotW, but I have never defeated one of the free moving Guardians. It was panic&run every time!
Re: Switch Pre-Orders Are Now Live For Cloudpunk, A Futuristic Open World Adventure
I bought it - I know it has some issues, but storybased games in a cyberpunk environment usually work for me regardless of gameplay.
Re: Review: Rebel Galaxy Outlaw - Deliciously Daring Dog-Fighting In The Depths Of Space
I wish they'd get in more detail about framerates, resolution and graphical effects.
What's the regular undocked resolution? How frequent does it dip below 30 fps? :/

Re: After 27 Years, Amiga Shmup 1993 Shenandoah Finally Launches On Switch
converting old Amiga games, are we?
I would like to order ports for: All Terrain Racing, Super Skidmarks, Ruff'n'Tumble, Virocop, Arabian Nights, and Superfrog!
Re: Reminder: Catherine: Full Body Is Out Now For The Nintendo Switch
ordered! It's arriving today.

I've preordered the physical version of Burnout Paradise. So not exactly "downloading", but getting it regardless.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #47 - Shadowrun
Oh, the Genesis one is the cover of the original RPG book! Too bad I couldn't vote for that.
Re: Destrobots Is A New Top-Down Shooter Coming Exclusively To Switch
If one joycon is used for movement and one for shooting.... then you can "share" one robot and double the numbers of players!
That's what we did with "Wii Play Tanks" and "Frobot" on the Wii, thanks to the Wiimote+nunchuck combo.
This would be mad fun!
