This was disappointing. The experience is maybe 15 minutes long and has no gameplay other than a handful of dialogue options. The answers don't feel like they have much weight, frequently the other character just talks about something else after you make a choice. The graphics are very simple, and other than particle smoke there is no animation at all.
You can recreate this experience as a set of powerpoint slides and lose nothing of the impact.
This already came out in 2018 on all other major platforms.
...but I'll give it a try, I like my retro soundtracks and pixellated graphics. It reminds me of Super Skidmarks or Super Off Road... I just wish it had some single screen maps so I could get around splitscreen.
@Fearful-Octopus if you ever get to play it - the Dreamcast version has superior sound compared to the gamecube. Otherwise the later game is better with more optional content, but as the music was something I really liked about the original I never quite got over how muffled and out of sync the music sounds (already in the first minute).
@carlos82 I didn't play on the highest difficulty and also had no other version to compare it to - maybe that's why I didn't notice the flaws as much as you did. My take away is that if I avoid seeing Doom Eternal on any high powered 4K 60pfs HDR device, I should have the same fun as with the previous part/port.
@carlos82 I played through Doom 2016 on switch - it plays very well, I didn't notice any problems other than the occasional blurry texture. What do you mean by it "barely" runs?
@Yodalovesu "occasionally the game just won't let you pick certain dialog options" Isn't that only if your mood doesn't allow for certain options? I found it interesting how you are not completely free in your dialogue, as your character needs to be calm to give non-angry replies etc. But I guess you are also right, surely there are some "non-options" when the narrative requires it.
@LOZ_Master95 It's not a good port - but I still really want to play Resident Evil 5 without having to buy a different device. I grew up with framerates way more terrible, I can handle 25 to 30 fps.
I have to admit, I will still buy Resident Evil 5. While the 6th one is supposed to be crap, I really crave more of the magic that was the fourth part on Gamecube so many years ago.
@MIDP I remember playing Wii Tanks with four people by splitting control - it was like a team exercise, one player controls movement via nunchuck, the other one targeting vie wiimote.

this game is single player only, there is neither online nor couch multiplayer.
Re: DOOM Eternal Producer Shares id's Side Of The Story After Composer Severs All Ties
@KingBowser86 But isn't "fess up and move on" just what they are doing with this email? For me the issue is now solved.

Re: Monstrum Brings Permadeath Survival Horror To Switch Next Month
After "Hollow" and "Phantaruk"...now "Monstrum", another mediocre survival horror title set on a spaceship, or actually good this time? :/
Ever since we got Burnout Paradise Remastered, I got my hopes up on a Dead Space Remastered on Switch. Come on EA!
EDIT: Oh man, I am a simple mind. I read "CARGO SHIP", and immediately placed it in space. ^^; So it's Bioshock instead? Let's see!
Re: Burnout Paradise Remastered Launches On June 19th, According To US eShop Listing
@Wilforce I will buy it too - sure the price is high but I have waited way too long for that game.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #39 - Wetrix
@gaga64 I agree - but it still looks boring, so I voted for the other ones.

Re: Video: See The LEGO Mario Starter Course In Action
I am really puzzled as to how this works. They developed it for years, so I am convinced there's a lot of thought and creativity behind it.
Looking forward to reviews! And congrats to Nintendo to once again trying new things.
Re: Switch Shooter Jet Lancer Mixes Dog Fighting, Giant Robots And Advance Wars-Style Visuals
that looks nice! The rock music and pixel art style reminds me of Steredenn, and that's a huge plus for me.
I'll remember this one and am looking forward to the review.

Doom64! A quality title, I'm having a lot of fun.
Re: No Joke, WayForward's Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse-Bouche Is Out Now On Switch
looks okay - but it is really so special?
It is a 2D sidescrolling shooter that has weapons inspired by video game classics.
Re: Totally Reliable Delivery Service Brings Crazy Co-Op Action To Switch Next Week
looks nice! Maybe a bit more fun than "the stretchers", which I found a bit dull.

Re: Review: Dead By Daylight - Fun Online Horror Action That's Ugly And Expensive On Switch
@Sabrewing you mean a Mario crossover where Mario, Lugi, Peach and Toad run from a crazy Bowser? That sounds like a Mario Party minigame!
Re: The 2D Adventure-Horror Game Whispering Willows Is Getting A Physical Release
Are you sure this is a horror game? The cover looks like a dreamy romance visual novel.
Re: Pooplers Is Splatoon With Pooping Babies, And It's Coming To Switch Next Week
I liked the concept, but then I watched the video - art design is choppy and uninspired. :/
What was the name of that mediocre racer that als had you paint the floors?
Re: Get Four Nintendo Switch Games For Free When You Buy Trancelation At Launch
But money isn't my problem, quality time is!
I don't see how I'd be having a great time with these titles. -_-
The language learning game sounds interesting though - I'll watch a youtube video on it.
Re: Here's How Racing Apex Became Hotshot Racing
@nkarafo but the shooting gameplay was removed - will just chasing someone be enough for you?
Re: Rainbows, Toilets & Unicorns Is A Real Video Game, And It's Coming To Switch Next Week
So you fight disney, north korea, religion, incels, and the US republicans?
Looks a bit slow on the gameplay side, but there's a lot of color for sure!

I really like this series of box art polls. Please never stop doing them!
Re: Square Enix Collective Reveals First-Person Puzzle-Shooter The Turing Test For Nintendo Switch
there's no actual shooting enemies here, right? It's a puzzler like portal.

I have a "big" Mario Kart for a different portable device, thank you very much.
Re: Heave Ho Links Up With Its Indie Friends At Devolver Digital, When It Arrives On Switch Later Today
love the game idea, but I can't stand the trailer. I never want to see people playing the game, especially if they have such annoying laughs.

@aznable why would you say that? I loved them as a teenager in the 90s, and enjoy them no less these days. There's room for every genre.

you should have asked which systems you own/owned before asking for experiencing problems.
Re: Epic Games Opens New Studio With Factor 5 Founders At The Helm
I just played Gunlord, and I think we don't need another Turrican anymore. There's also Hurrican, which might make a good switch port too.

Re: More Evidence Of Rumoured Switch Mini Surfaces Via Accessory Maker Bigben
@GrantM3 but how would you clamshell something that is 75% screen? Wouldn't it look like a large 3DS with an empty bottom half.

Sorry, but I am not buying a non-60fps racing game in 2019. :/ Mario Kart can do it, FAST racing RMX can do it.

looks neat! Might give this a try.
Re: Alien: Isolation Is Coming To Switch This Year With Gyro Aiming And HD Rumble
@Ryu_Niiyama no, this is the good one! A really good game after an excellent movie.
