The cult classic Catherine: Full Body is now available on the Nintendo Switch. This action-adventure puzzler comes with all the original add-on content and three new voices from the Persona series. Here's a bit about the backstory:
Our story centers around commitment phobic Vincent, who is at a crossroads of taking the next step in his long-term relationship or leaving it all behind. Succumbing to the temptation of a new romance, Vincent then finds himself trapped in a recurring nightmare of a crumbling tower of puzzle blocks he must climb to survive to see another day...
To celebrate, Atlus character designer Shigenori Soejima has drawn some special artwork. Take a look below:
In our review, we gave the game nine out of ten stars and said there was enough new content on offer to make it worth diving in all over again - assuming you have played it before. Will you be adding Catherine to your Switch library? Tell us down below.

Yep, I've been playing it. $50 for what amounts to a GOTY edition on Switch is a great deal, and it's one of the most unique titles on the platform. July is looking to be a great month.
Join the sheep and struggle your way to the top. That's the lesson of this game.
You didn't need to remind me. Got it yesterday. This game is weird, but it draws you in. Love the puzzles! I'm playing on Easy now, just to get a hang of it. Might go up to Normal when I've gotten used to how it works.
Another one to throw straight into the backlog. We'll probably be on whatever comes out after the "Switch 2" and I'll still have Switch games to play. No complaints!
Just waiting for my Amazon preorder to arrive. I never played the original, so I'm looking forward to trying it out.
Been playing since yesterday!! Can't believe how good it works on the switch. 10/10 rating from me. Vincent in his twisted state of mind ๐ with C/Q/K: atherine's(if you know what i mean).. if i have known this will be coming to the switch i shouldn't have brought it for ps4.
Check out the juke box for some juicy soundtracks from persona 4 ๐
That depends... Do I get to have relations with all the women?
Been playing it and loving every moment of it. A superb port, too.
I really wanted to like this game, but I could never wrap my head around the puzzles. Maybe I should try it again sometime later down the line.
It's very difficult
Artwork is nice and in game, but still it's not my type of game when it comes to romance. But have fun everyone!
@Auenegheps Put the game on easy first and try to get hang of it and then do normal. Trust me it won't be fun if it's keep getting hard, don't go hard on yourself.
@hayesdude Try the easy mode. It let's you get used to the mechanics and has no time limit.
I want to try this game, and Iโve seen the original for >$5 for the Xbox 360. I think I will buy it there next time itโs on sale and then this version on switch if I truly like it โ hopefully when it is on sale
@Mr_Persona Aw man, l got no one to talk to about the game then. How can you say no to a game that has your name in the title xD Sorry l just think it's funny
that Harem ending is good lol
@Yusuke_the_Fox I tried it on easy but it's so easy. Without time and with help for climb...
@Quarth I'm pretty sure I did try the easy mode last time I attempted to play the game but I'm not sure. That does give an excuse to try it again though.
This is the type of game that would never have appealed to me pre-lockdown, but seeing as I'm out of work until September I've been rolling the dice on some different genres and I can't wait for my pre order to arrive!
With how the Royal mail are doing it should be here by the time I go back to work ๐
ordered! It's arriving today.
This arrived for me yesterday and as soon as I'm done with work I'm starting it. Cannot wait!
I'm going to wait for a sale with this. It was 29.99 on ps4 the other week. I don't mind waiting.
And what was there to do but buy it again if there was nothing to play with. Perfectly ported to the switch, no complaints. In addition to the huge ping on the Internet, when you encounter people from remote regions, you can search for the next round and start terrible delays in management.
I am interested, but 70 CAD is pretty pricy. My big game purchase of the month is going to be Paper Mario, so I'm happy to wait for a sale.
My copy arrived yesterday. Finally the first Atlus published game on Switch. Iโve put to one side for my birthday later this month.
I didnโt get the keychain though.
@Ralizah While I usually defend "full priced ports" for a variety of reasons.....Catherine is an ancient game and it's ultimately "just a puzzle game." I even defended the price on Sushi Striker.....but somehow this seems high. I'd have been comfortable at $40. $50 isn't insulting like $60 would have been, but part of me can't see paying $50....I expect it will end up on sales and the price is set to be a starting point for future discount percentages, by black friday at the latest.
OTOH, Curiosity may get the best of me before then....not sure. I can't get myself to love the gameplay but it could grow on me potentially.
Edit: It's conveniently half price for $30 on PSN to coincide with this launch Though that means when not on sale they charge $60 over there. Supposedly. Still, that means it's a game with a price set for discounts.
@NEStalgia Sushi Striker has a throwaway plot and looks like a flash game. Catherine: Full Body is a premium puzzle game with an engaging plot and high-quality presentation. Moreover, it's not a port of a 360/PS3 game, but of the improved PS4 release. Only, it's $10 cheaper at launch, and comes with $20 worth of DLC included for free.
Of course, it'll always eventually be cheaper on Playstation. It'll also look marginally better, and probably play a bit smoother. If you're getting this on Switch, it's because you either want a portable version or because it's the only platform you own that is able to run the game. I just wanted to highlight that this was very much not one of those overpriced premium ports we routinely get. You're getting for $50 what would normally cost $80 on PS4.
@Ralizah Sushi Striker has a throwaway cartoon plot while Catherine has a bolt-on VN....both are puzzle games, but while Sushi Striker was all new, Catherine is an enhanced port. I still say Sushi Striker while it should have been $50 as well, earned its launch price more. Though it should also have come down in price and hasn't for Nintendo reasons.
However, that's interesting about the DLC. What DLC is included on Switch that otherwise is only included in the Digital Deluxe on PS4? Nothing about the major info indicated that.
That said, I don't know that "always cheaper on PS" is really true other than if it hits bargain basement/freemium prices. Nintendo doesn't do proper sales, but third parties have been doing proper sales on Switch. If it's $30 on PSN now at 50% off $60, it'll be $30 on Switch at some point, at 40% off $50.
Catherine is one of Atlus' most severely underrated games. I feel like some people back in the day just brushed it under the rug either for its highly suggestive content or because it wasn't considered as big as MegaTen or Persona. A version of the game that's cheaper than it is on PS4 and has all the DLC content to start on the cartridge is definitely worth it, because this game has probably my favorite story of any 2010s' Atlus title. I hope the Switch userbase doesn't just dismiss this as a filler title just because it wasn't the Persona 5 Royal port or Scramble localization they wanted.
@NEStalgia Eh, I don't fetishize "new" games. Xenoblade DE was perfectly worth full retail, and I feel the same about Catherine: Full Body. I'd rather have a remaster of an older game that looks good (visually, it's strikingly similar to something like Persona 5) than a "new" game that looks like something I'd have played on Newgrounds fifteen years ago.
The Switch port includes all of the optional PS4 DLC free of charge, along with a couple extra voices for characters. I've already found one of the DLC items: it's a pair of glasses that let's you see everyone in their underwear. You have to pay $90 to obtain something equivalent in Gal Gun.
RE: sales, Sega and Squeenix are good about having sale price parity across platforms, but good luck finding big games for good prices on the eshop otherwise. And when it comes to Squeenix, it doesn't even matter most of the time, because some of their best games on Switch are published by Nintendo, and they almost never do good sales. Big games are usually much easier to obtain cheaply on PS4.
Of course, the sheer degree of savings you can find for PC versions of games blows away even the PS4's often aggressive eshop sales.
@Ralizah XC DE was a total remaster that went as far as changing the art style completely. That practically is a new game.
Catherine is a block based puzzle game that looks like a Vita game even on the PS4.
I do stand by Sushi Striker though. People never gave that game a fair shake because the art style put them off. I laughed at it but once I started playing it, I realized it was sadly grossly underrated. I'm not even a puzzle game fan, though admittedly it's kind of an action game disguised as a puzzle game....almost more of a fighting game with a weird mechanic.
As for the DLC, did they advertise that as a unique Switch feature? Because on PS4 that version is the Digital Deluxe Edition that includes the DLC.....but they're labeling Switch as just Full Body....which is a different product without the DLC when compared on PSN. If so, that's a total marketing fail if they're selling the DDE on Switch for $10 less than full price base on PS4 (excluding the "50% off sale" during which DDE is only $10 cheaper than on Switch.) . Are you positive it's the equivalent of the DDE ($80 normally, $40 on half off sale):
If you're positive then they're not marketing the Switch version well at all and it's a better value than it seems.
As for sales, yeah, I'm half tempted on PS4 to buy Tsushima since I've waited forever, or just wait until November when it'll be 20% off minimum. And Nintendo never does sales, really. It's frustrating. I love Nintendo...and am infinitely frustrated by Nintendo. But at least big publishers are doing sales right on Nintendo now. That's a start.
People talk about Steam sales, but when I've done price comparisons of anything I'm ever interested I've never found Steam to come out much, if at all, cheaper than PSN/MSStore. Maybe for random indie games and such, but I don't do very much indie. Only the iconic ones for the most part (Hat in Time, etc.)
Wait.....glasses that lets you see everyone in their underwear?.....Oh is that what the horn-rimed....hor....oooooooohhhhh.....

"Original Catherine: Full Body add-on content now included in game (Catherine โIdeal Voiceโ Set, Playable Character Set, Persona 5 Joker Character & Commentary Set, Bonus Content: Horn-Rimmed Glasses)"
So, yes, it has everything in the Deluxe whatever on PS4. For $10 less than the cost of the base game on PS4 (when it's not on sale, anyway).
Steam is actually quite a bit cheaper for a number of games I've compared, although, yes, there's probably sale price parity on many games as well. What really distinguishes steam sales is the scope of the sales, which go well beyond anything on console in terms of the number of discounted games. Then you include humble bundles (I got a Call of Duty game, the Crash remasters, the Spyro remasters, and something else for only $15 more than a year ago, for example), 25% launch discounts on brand new games via GMG, etc., and you have a gaming landscape that is drastically cheaper than the competition.
@N8tiveT3ch just gotta have player 2 ๐
@Ralizah That's good to know. Critical marketing fail on Atlus/SEGA's part then. They're selling the DDE and ONLY the DDE on Switch, while selling 2 versions on PSN, and naming the switch version without the deluxe tag, and selling it for $30 less than on PSN without sales, and only $10 more than on PSN with sales. That does change the value proposition.
As for Steam, yeah, when I was choosing PC vs X1X a few years back, I did the price comparisons for a while and I really wouldn't have saved much if anything on Steam....and some things I'd have paid more for. Maybe it is cheaper, but I think you have to be looking at different things.
Remember the one and only Nintendo indies humble bundle back in Damon Baker's era? Good times....
Well I'm buying this game really soon since I've always wanted to play it when it originally released but never got to(prison). Anyway glad it's on the Switch since it is the only console I have right now.
Got the PS4 Steelbook, preordered the Switch. Love it.
@Auenegheps Well l don't know what else to say then
Anyone know if the physical copy requires any sort of download outside of a small Day 1 patch or something like that?
@Yusuke_the_Fox Oh brother not that joke again xD
