Re: Poll: Do You Want Weapon Degradation To Return In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

MintFox

I would actually prefer they keep weapons breakable. I would instead like to see more focus on scrambling for materials and weapons mid fight. And bonuses for breaking through a whole weapon, like getting materials to attach to other weapons for boosts or upgrades or crafting to encourage frequent use of weapons in the wild. Maybe if your spiked boko club breaks it drops some animal bone material, and if you approach it on the ground you can immediately attach the bones to your pot lid and get a spiked pot lid. Ideally it should be fast and seamless to upgrade on the fly so you don't have to get too attached to your weapons, so you should be able to approach it and have options to immediately apply it to your weapon/shield/bow without needing to pick it up and go through menus.

I would also like more challenges that take away your weapons and gear, like Eventide Island or the Master trials. I think the game is at its best when you get to use your surroundings to the fullest rather than try to build up a huge arsenal of weapons that are so valuable you don't even want to use them on normal enemies.

Re: Random: Pokémon Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over Pikachu Talking

MintFox

Talking Pokémon isn’t weird. There’s usually at least one talking Pokémon every movie. (Mewtwo, lugia, zorua, diancie, and if no legendaries want to speak, there’s still meowth.) but the weird thing is that it’s Ash’s Pikachu. So it’s like, the most important Pokémon to represent all the critters that just spout their own names. Super weird. I guess this is an alternate pikachu anyways tho, since this movie clearly doesn’t take place with the ash and crew I grew up with.

Re: The ALL Controller Aims To Work Across All Your Game Consoles and Devices

@EdwinJ Gyro / accelerometer is the first stretch goal (1 million Canadian Dollars). If it doesn't get it, it'll be worthless as a nintendo controller for me, but I'll still use it for my ps3 or whenever I go to a friend's house. Also I've been needing a controller for my ios/android stuff. I consider this controller an overall good investment to me.

Re: Analysts Expect Nintendo Switch Hybrid to End 'Two-Punch Strategy'

I sure hope the 3DS doesn't get a successor. The switch's design is by far superior. Especially with how it uses bluetooth. When my 3ds's controls wear down or if it turns out to be lacking buttons or needing another joystick, I either have to buy additions, pull the thing apart to replace things, or buy a whole new one. With the switch, I can just buy a new set of overpriced controllers.

Re: Sega Forever Launch Marred By Terrible Emulation

Been playing sonic on my iPhone 6s with no issues. I've been using a bluetooth controller so I can't comment on the screen controls, but, I haven't noticed any frame drops.

I will say it stops recognizing my controller after ads, but, I can just pause and unpause with touch controls and it goes fine.

Re: Talking Point: How ARMS Can Punch Its Way Into Competitive Gaming

MintFox

So I've gotten responses about how the motion controls are perfectly precise and how motion controls are optional, but
a) motion controls are super imprecise right now. If I turn my hand exactly 45 degrees, it wont guarantee the same result in the game, especially if I make the movement quickly. This could lead to a punch missing the right curvature, and missing a hit. If this misses even 5% of the time, that could cost me the match. Which in a professional setting, could cost me my paycheck. It'd be like playing Brawl professionally if tripping happened 3 times more often.
b) non-motion controls have objectively less options with how you can move. Using it gives more precision, but at a cost that gives you less versatility in a match, which can be even worse than terrible motion controls, as your movements are much easier to predict, and counter.
Unless they somehow put together a non-motion control method that has all the functionality of motion control scheme, or somehow make joycon with highly precise motion controls, I don't see this game making it anywhere in the esports scene.

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Director Says the Game’s Design Could Become the New Standard

MintFox

not sure if I care for this to replace Zelda, but I do believe this style has a lot more that could be explored with. I'm hoping the next game drops the glider in favor of a bundle of exploration tools. ie: hookshot/grappling hook, hoverboots, ect.
Or better yet, let me turn into other races like Majoras Mask, I wanna be a Rito, Goron, Zora, and use their abilities to explore.
