Re: Video: The Surprising Origins of the Wii Virtual Console Super Mario Bros. ROM

MintFox

Regardless of the moral issues, the idea that someone just ripped a rom off the internet and sold it, even if it's their file, it's just unprofessional and I feel jipped for buying it. Unless it's free I think I'm done with vc games.
Actually, an exception would be something like if it's like gcn which is near impossible to emulate, so i'd at least be impressed by their emulator and that'd be worth a few bucks.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Paid Online Service for the Nintendo Switch

MintFox

I see this as a sort of bargaining chip. Nintendo offers a low deal, see how many bite. And then when/if very few people pay the subscription, they'll have to offer a better deal.
To be honest, unless they're charging $1-$2 a month just for seever upkeep, (which with they're player base could definitely cover the costs) I'm not subscribing any time this year for splatoon2. Which is a shame because that game looks fun.

Re: A Tetris Movie is in the Making

I'd love to be surprised with maybe a tale of a game tournement like the Wizard or something, but more than likely it'll be falling giant blocks attacking Hong Kong or something.

Re: Soapbox: Game Reviews Always Need a Final Score

MintFox

I disagree on almost every level. I'm sure some comments have already gone over why in great detail, so I'll be brief.
I, as well as people I have asked, not exactly a survey, just asked a couple of my friends, agree that we don't care about how good the game is visually, mechanically, or creatively. What we want to see in a review is how it effects the people that play it. If they hate it for petty reasons, that's something we want to know. If they love it because of bias and not because of clever design, we want to know. Screw fair reviews, when I play a game I'm not going to judge how much I enjoy it fairly, I'm going to judge it the way it effects me.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Source and Details Gain Some Traction

Oh god would an online backup be fantastic. Now if only they went as far as to let me transfer save data and/or game purchases between consoles.
Also, if phones are a thing, we could get things like game apps that can transfer currency or items into console games, which would be sweet.

Re: Scribblenauts Studio 5th Cell Is Closing Its Doors

MintFox

That's a shame. I was never the biggest fan, and I disagreed with many of their ideas with sequels, but I loved Drawn To Life, Scribblenauts, Super Scriblenauts, and to a lesser degree the later sequels of both of those franchises. I hope the programmers, artists and testers, (oh dear lord those have to be dedicated QA teams for those games) find good jobs.

Re: Ori and the Blind Forest Director Criticises Secrecy and Lack of Access to NX Devkits

MintFox

I agree with the Ori dev. If Nintendo wants any early support they have to give early support to developers. I work in Unity, and even if the NX launches with full Unity support, And I happen to have a fully finished product to convert to the new system, I still wouldn't have the game ready on the new system for another several months at best. And even after that would come the problem of getting my game on Nintendo's store. Hardware companies need to stop hiding and start working towards making a better relationship with devs to provide better experiences for their customers.
