The Wii is a shadow of its former self though. That is not an insult, it's a fact. It's no different then Nintendo saying the same thing about the PS2, or the Xbox. Also, I've never heard a ten year old use the phrase "shadow of its former self" as an insult either...but I am the dumb one, right?
Would you make the argument that the Wii is just as popular today as it was five years ago? Is it even being manufactured anymore? Are there still a bunch new games coming out for it? Does Nintendo still actively promote it?
No.
So yes, its safe to say, its "a shadow of its former self". There is nothing at all insulting about that phrase, let alone in the context in which it was used.
Take the time to get past the sensational headline, and actually read the quotes in question. There was nothing insulting said.
Did you even read what was said? Where was the 'ten year old insult'? This was the direct quote...
I believe that Vita is the best handheld gaming experience, full stop, period. Nothing comes close to that. You can talk about your mobile, you can talk about your tablet, you can talk about, you know, Nintendo platforms or what have you in the handheld space. I think, pound-for-pound, buck-for-buck, Vita is the best gaming experience you can have.
They didn't say anything bad about Nintendo. There were no insults. There wasn't even a direct comparison. They said they feel the Vita is the best handheld console available. That is all. How is that worse than what Reggie said? It's not.
That was absolutely unnecessary here. Don't do it again -Lz
When this guy is eventually let go by Nintendo, and it will likely happen sooner than later, he will never assume such a high profile position with a video game company ever again. And with good reason.
Hahaha! And several users here say it is the best Nintendo console ever!
For me it's about a C or D as well. I've played it less than any other Nintendo console I've owned, and 2015 looks to be a wash for me. I doubt Zelda will be released until 2016, and the only thing upcoming that interests me is Splatoon, and that's not even a guaranteed purchase.
Do yourself a favor and read a little bit about this topic before getting your panties in a bunch. The 3DS has been able to play pirated games for like a year already. This homebrew stuff is the least of your worries.
Also, the DS, PS2 and Wii all had huge software libraries and all of them were easily hacked. This won't effect the 3DS' ability to get new games. Take a deep breath and relax.
Hahaha now you modify your statement by saying I have to find a 'collector level statuette' that cost $13 that looks just as good? I can't do that, because there are no 'collector level statuettes' that cost $13, hence Amiibo's are not 'collector level statuettes'. They are junky looking cheap plastic. If someone has poor taste and feels like displaying these on a mantel place, more power too them, but that does not automatically mean these toys are of high value and quality.
I remember when I was a kid and had a collection of these collector level statuettes. I wish I kept them as they would literally be worth a couple dollars at this point in time!
Seems like Nintendo is going all out in an attempt to create false interest in these things. They aren't even out on shelves yet but already we are hearing stuff about exclusive figures, limited quantities, mail order subscription deals, etc. We don't even know if these things will be hard to purchase in stores (I doubt it) but already there is a manufactured sense of urgency that "Hey! I gotta grab all the ones I want at once to make sure I get them!!!"
The figures look mostly like crap (they are all crap to me, but I respect that other people here generally agree some look better than others) and they add very limited and unnecessary features to the games that incorporate their usage.
My advice is to wait until February-March when they are in the clearance bins for $5.
Nintendo's 'family friendly' marketing campaign they have been running since the Wii U's launch has been fantastic! On pace to be their worst selling home console, total consumer apathy towards their product, being outsold 2-1 by the PS4 that has been available half as long, several major titles (W101, DKC:TF, Bayonetta 2, etc) underperforming sales wise due to non-existent advertising, pushing a 'kiddy' image that makes their console generally undesirable to anyone over the age of 18....Nintendo doesn't need to change a thing! ^_^
You do know that there is a huge portion of the gaming population right now who has never owned a Nintendo home console before, right? Teenagers and young kids make up a huge portion of the Xbox/PS user base at this time, so ya....I think its safe to say both those companies are doing a good job of hooking consumers.
I looked briefly and couldn't find it, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo put out a sales report for MK8 last month or in September, and in it they released the total sales number for the game, both retail and eShop, and I believe the download number was only in the low 100K's. eShop sales only make up a minuscule portion of purchases, so if Bayonetta 2 has only sold 150K at retail, I believe its a safe bet to say the game has only sold ten thousand or so copies in the eShop, if that.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this commercial, in its entirety, featured in one of those Youtube "Top Fails of 2014" compilation videos in the coming months.
Reggie has always struck me as more of a goofball/ceremonial figurehead rather than an actual company leader. He always looks like a deer in the headlights and doesn't seem to be able to give clear and concise answers to most questions. I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that he really doesn't have much power within the Nintendo heriarchy.
This is the equivalent of a quadriplegic guy twitching his pinky finger for the first time in ten years. Nice to see, but in the big picture, not much to be excited about.

This game will be crap though. It's not even debatable! After a year of development, that YouTube video is the best he could do? That thing is a complete and utter embarrassment, and his poor judgement in releasing it (and believing it was good) does not instill confidence that this game will ever be completed, let alone even be good enough to be considered mediocre. There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe how truly awful this game looks to be!
Destiny and Watch_Dogs both ended up being enjoyable, if not solid games though. People had their expectations too high and were expecting 10/10's, but when the games got 7.5-8+ ratings people felt let down. They are still good games though, just not as mind blowing as people thought they would be.
Everything we have seen from this game though looks like absolute garbage and seems like a bad joke. Reasonable people have zero expectations for this title, and rightfully so. Most think it will be bad and if it ever gets released, will undoubtedly garner horrible reviews as well. The guy making the game cannot even put together a professional looking youtube video, but people have faith in him to make a good game?
So again, can someone explain to me why comparing his game to Watch_Dogs and Destiny makes sense? The situations are completely different.
Watch_Dogs and Destiny may not have lived up to YOUR expectations (did you even play them?) but they are both functional, playable, and have been enjoyed by millions of consumers.

So again, your continued comparisons between the creation and release of both Watch_Dogs and Destiny are completely nonsensical. Those games are not even in the same stratosphere as Mad Men Football. It's like comparing a space shuttle to a unicycle. Those games should not even be mentioned in the same breath as Mad Men Football. No aspect of their existence is similar AT ALL.
Mad Men Football is the "creation" of one single, solitary individual, who has stated before that he has NO experience creating a game prior to this one. Please stop comparing this ONE SINGLE MAN to multimillion dollar development studios filled with talented programmers with proven track records. Again, this is not supporting your defence and proving that you are thinking clearly. It's actually doing the opposite, and making you seem like you know even less about the way things work.
Also, people doubting that Minecraft would be a massive hit has nothing to do at all with people questioning whether this one single man at AE Games can produce and release a functional game. No one was doubting the existence of Minecraft.
Anyone who could honestly say without a hint of irony that either Destiny or Watch_Dogs has anything at all to do with the development of Mad Men Football needs to give their head a shake. Those games have nothing at all to do with this abomination, and it's shocking that your mind would somehow find some tenuous connection between them, and that you would then share it thinking it actually was a valid point.
"If it is an excellent football game on par with EA's offerings, so be it."

This crap does not belong at school!! Now I know who is responsible!'
Nothing ever came of it, but I remember she was super pissed! For the rest of that year while walking down the hallways I would see my nWo print outs hanging in the lockers of dozens of the older students, which was kind of cool haha. I think anyone who was lucky enough to be a teenager during those years of wrestling experienced something that will never happen again!

'Breath taking' diversity on the Wii U?
No sports games. No fighting games. No racing games. No RPGs. No third person action/adventure games. No FPS games, etc...
Nintendo has maybe one or two games in each of those categories available, but 60% of the rest of what's available is rainbow colored platformers.
Wii U is the LEAST diverse console available in terms of the genres available on it, now and in the future.
