As long as we have developers like AE Games creating fantastic software like Mad Men Football for the Wii-U, I'm fine with all other third parties jumping ship.
Huh? The PS4 is essentially sold out in Japan, the PS4 is still hard to find in US stores, and in 3 months it's sold as many consoles as the Wii-U has in 14 months. So yes, the PS4 has been 'dominating' the Wii-U so far.
Pointing out that the PS4 has sold out and is in such high demand that people are reselling unopened consoles for a profit online is not evidence of "buyers remorse".
I love music and can't go a single day without listening to it, but I can honesty say I would never find myself in a situation where I would want to listen to videogame music.

"Gaming is strictly a hobby for me. To get too enveloped in this is actually sort of embarrassing"
I hate to break it to you, but if you are on an online forum sharing your opinion on "vidya games", especially in a pompous and condecending manner, you are clearly "enveloped" in it and it's no longer a hobby.
We welcome you. Step forward into the darkness....
"Slow season" shouldn't affect a major franchise release on the Wii-U, as there hasn't really been a lot of games coming out on it lately. If it opened at only 35,000 copies sold (+ unknown # of digital) its highly unlikely it will go on to see any higher than that number in the following weeks. Thats awful.
So if you don't consider DKC a "AAA" title, then would you not have to agree that it means the actual Wii-U "drought" between AAA games is now the gap between SM3DW and MK8? 6-7 months?
I think there is an even balance of good/negative news on this site, but it's just that, for the Wii-U at least, the negatives are FAR more significant than the positives.
When the Wii-U does something well it's slightly above average, but when it does badly, it's spectacularly so.
"I think its karmic payback for all the Nintendo fans mocking the endless parade of similar FPS games on the other consoles."
Exactly. Third DKC game released since late 2010. Platforming titles like this have a niche audience now, and three similar looking releases (one being an identical re-release) like this don't excite anyone other than the most ardent Nintendo fans.
If thats true, why does Nintendo even bother making new games? Just sell a $300 console that plays only 8 and 16-bit games! It would sell like hotcakes, right?!!
If you polled all Wii-U owners and asked them whether they would rather have a new retail title, or a GBA game, what do you think would be the most popular answer?? New release titles are what get people to buy the system and want to invest their money. VC releases should compliment a steady stream of new software, not be a replacement for it.
"There's also NES Remix 2 in April, as well as Virtual console releases include a few amazing Gameboy Advance games. What I'm saying is that the notion of a drought is a whiney, ridiculous, cry-baby, first-world, entitled whack-job view-point."
You know what else is a whack-job point of view? Believing that people spent $300+ on a new Nintendo console so they could repurchase games that are 12-25 years old.
Who exactly is this marketed to? Adults won't buy it, and if a kid has enough cash to pick it up, they would likely buy something more professional looking that they could use for years to come.
Even if it's a high quality bag, it looks too corny for more than a handful of people to want to own/use.
You are acting like you are one of a handful of people who anticipated this game to be good, when pretty much everyone expected it to be great (whether of not they want to play it or not). You have the same opinion as most people, but then try to pass yours off like you made some bold prediction haha.
Good luck, but I must decline your offer as I have already opened my own development studio. It's called "Well Behaved Puppy" and my first game is a third person action adventure game called 'Fully Documented'
Of course. Nintendo wouldn't want to be associated with a "game" that only "exists" to mock EA and Madden football. It's a weak online parody, thats all.
I'm with you. The amount of people acting enthusiastic about this "game" on here is mind boggling. It's not only a HORRIBLE idea, but the fact it seems to just "exist" as a parody of EA's Madden is proof it will never see the light of day (never mind the fact the guy doesn't have a Wii-U dev kit).
How did this story get past the editor?? Oh wait....it was posted by the editor...
But I'm not a fan of the customizing your gear to boost stats. I don't want to have to wear a goofy yellow banana hat or something like that to boost a stat that I desire.
I doubt very much that a niche JRPG that will sell under a million copies will ever receive that accolade. Let alone in 2014...I bet its not releasing this year.
VERY underwhelming Direct. A bunch of eShop junk nobody asked for (THOSE were the Level 5 games!?), nice to get a bit more info on Mario Golf, and then a little bit more info and new trailers for a bunch of games we knew about YEARS ago.
It's because all those other platforms have tons of better games to play, and Nintendo consoles go long stretches with nothing. No surprise a $5-9 dollar game sold more copies on a system that has 5 month game droughts.
You know its a slow news day when there is a story posted about a development studio who may or may not exist, talking about releasing software that may or may not exist.
By the time this game releases, it will be almost 10 months since GTA5 came out. Its painfully obvious the game wasn't anywhere close to being finished by that point in time, so I doubt VERY much that the release of GTA5 had anything to do with the delay. A couple of months? Probably. Nearly a year? No way. The game still needed A LOT of work evidently.
2% of UbiSofts sales come from the Wii-U, yet people STILL want to believe that Watch_Dogs will be released on the console, several months after it hits the others???
Good points. UbiSoft has never really impressed me much with their games (they are usually very buggy) and it seems like they may have bit off more than they could chew with this one. The hype when this game debuted a couple years ago was HUGE and since then there has been barely a trickle of information.
So UbiSoft, in a reactionary response to Nintendo announcing MK8 is coming in May, has "shut down" development on the Wii-U version of the game and diverted all man power to the PS3/PS4/Xbox/360 teams so they can avoid releasing Watch_Dogs around the same time?!
"I think people need to look at this rationally..."
Why are so many people believing that Ubisoft has invested a ton of time into the Wii-U version? How many times has this happened before (in the Wii-U's short history) where a developer claims the Wii-U version will be the "best" and "definitive" version, only too see that its a crappy port on release? For all anyone knows, Ubisoft could have stopped work on the Wii-U version 4 or 5 months ago,if not longer, meaning that by the time the final game is released around June, that the Wii-U version is 10+ months behind the others?
If UbiSoft cancels the Wii-U version now (they are just using the term "delayed" to be diplomatic) they will save more money than they would earn if they finished work on the game and released it months after the other versions, to awful sales.
Microsoft has a rule that a game must be released on Xbox at the same time as other consoles, or else they won't allow it on their system. If Rayman came out on Wii-U and PS3 first, they couldn't put it on the 360 after that. Nintendo doesn't have such a publishing clause (or the power to enforce one) so UbiSoft doesn't have to worry.
Hahaha wow, this looks horrible. The animation is stiff, and there doesn't seem to be an original thought in the minds of the developers. Aren't these guys embarrassed to ripoff Metroid this much? The look of the character, the power ups, level design, music, the abilities, the way the level starts with the space craft landing?
I take comfort in that fact that everytime someone gets upset or calls me wrong for saying the gamepad was a bad idea, I can look over my shoulder and see 95 million former Wii owners who (so far) agree with me.

Nope.
Sold out their Japanese launch and in the next couple weeks it should surpass worldwide sales of the Wii-U if it hasn't done so already.
If anything, it's looking like it will be the top system this time around.
