Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New

I don't know, looks to me that you just made a bad review and gave it a low score to contrast pretty much what other websites and outlets are saying, so you can stand out more. Hope it was worth it.

That said, five hours in, and I am really enjoying it. Perhaps not an excellent game, but it's quite fun. Zero glitches on my end, by the way. Graphics are a tad blurry, but I've played FAR worse, like No More Heroes 3, Deadly Premonition 2, Ys IX... I'd say it's fine, since performance is pretty consistent.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 3rd)

Slowly getting through Somnium Files: Nirvana Initiative. Not as interesting as the original, but I like how it tackles certain aspects like mental health and depression. Also playing Eastward. Pretty good game!

On other platforms, I am finishing Dragon Quest XI on Stadia. I started it on Switch, but for some reason dropped it there.

@KingMike There is no point in purchasing currency nor any other microtransactions. You can play whenever you want and everything can be unclocked just by playing. The only thing that can be considered microtransactions is the battlepass, but you get the currency you need to purchase it completly free and you earn a lot just by playing. People cyring in the comments don't know anything about the current state of the game.

Why is everyone talking about microtransactions? They got rid of those last month. I literally got the game a couple weeks ago, and unlocked all characters except one in 5 hours without spending a dime. Same can be done with vehicles and costumes. There's zero point in paying for in-game currency, unless you want everything unlocked without playing the game, which in fact, is quite fun.

Re: Random: Sega Embraced Sonic's Mod Community During The 30th Anniversary Symphony

The whole Symphony event was a delight, one of the best streams I've ever watched and the new renditions were top notch. A perfect way to celebrate Sonic's 30 anniversary, and much better than what Nintendo did for Mario's 35, and so far, Zelda.

It's not about porting or rereleasing old titles or a bunch of random merchandise, it's about celebrating the great things and giving fans something unique.

Re: Soapbox: Be Happy, This Is The True Golden Age Of Gaming

Marxally

It's clearly not. Publishers have never been this greedy and things will get worse. AAA developers are afraid of trying new things and those who try get critiziced. Scalpers are ruining the market, which was already pretty bad due to the pandemic. Most recent releases are either ports or average remakes of recent games. Physical releases are less important as time moves on, and videogames are approaching "Netflix" territory with things like Game Pass...

If it wasn't for the indie developers, I would've given up on videogames... I miss the early-mid 2000s.

Re: Memory Pak: When Harvest Moon Taught Me About Death

Really sweet article. I don't recall ever facing that though while playing a videogame, but that part of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon when your character disappears and you see some cutscenes of your friend trying to cope is something that hit me as a kid.
