Earlier this week Square Enix released another update for the Switch game Chocobo GP. It bumps the game up to Version 1.1.1 and allows players to now delete their best Time Attack Mode records and upload their newly created time data. Below is the rundown:
Chocobo GP - Version 1.1.1 - 22nd June 2022
The Ver. 1.1.1 update for Chocobo GP was released at 15:00 JST on Wednesday 06/22/2022.
*Please be aware that if the player is playing a game mode that involves online communications at the time the update is released, the system will quit out of that mode after the current race finishes and return to the title screen.
The content of this update is detailed below.
Ver.1.1.1 update contents:
1. Improvements to issues where communication errors would occur between the course introduction section and the start of a race.
2. Addition of a function to delete personal best times for Time Attack mode.
*The data stored on the Switch console can now be deleted as desired.
(This does not affect any data that has already been uploaded to the server)
*Rankings data will also be updated when uploading new data recorded after deleting personal bests.
*It remains impossible to race against ghost data recorded on a different version of the game or to upload or download ghost data for a different version.
3. Fixes to an issue where it was possible to continue using team stickers from a previous season.
4. Fixes to mistakes in the names of team stickers.
5. Fixes to an issue where players would get stuck on the terrain on the Hyperspeed version of the Balamb Garden course
6. Fixes to an issue that occurred when using the Kwackeys, where the effects of certain abilities affecting the player were not removed depending on the timing when bombs are detonated.
7. Changes to the video to explain Maduin's ability to make it reflect the current in-game behaviour.
8. Adjustments to the points acquired by racers finishing in 5th place or lower in Chocobo GP mode
5th place = 200 points, 6th place = 160 points, 7th place = 120 points, 8th place = 80 points
*We will continue to examine and adjust this area, taking into account how it will affect the rankings.
An internet connection is required to apply these updates.
We will continue to release further updates to ensure that everyone can enjoy Chocobo GP.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers and ask for your understanding.
We hope you continue to enjoy “Chocobo GP”.

Insert comment about forgetting to remove microtransactions.
You can't polish a turd
This is a full-priced game with microtransactions.
AUGH
I bought this one for some reason
Credit where it's due but at least they're supporting the game and atm give me Square Enix any day over Sega. I can't believe I just said that tbh.
@RubyCarbuncle Wait until they start rolling out their NFT games, they sold many IPs to fund whatever they will be.
Miss the days where we just handed money over for a game, and we got a game.
They forgot to remove the microtransaction bugs
Nah, I'll pass. Still sour they took the greedy route with this game.
Is this another one of those patches that doesn’t actually improve anything?
@XenoShaun That's fine. If Square Enix turn to NFTs I'll turn to not buying their games.
@Clyde_Radcliffe But that won't stop squeenix from trying.
Still waiting for this to go f2p.
@SteamEngenius Either that, or just incorporate all content already. You know, like conventional games.
To think that's becoming a higher bar...
Updates doesn't matter, with the microtransactions they're keeping, the damage is done. Unfortunately, Square-Enix just don't get it.
I be surprised if this doesn't win the most disappointing game of the year award. best things about this game are the models and I hope someone rips them someday so I can use them for G-mod.
@Clyde_Radcliffe "You can't polish a turd"
It's actually possible. There was a Mythbusters episode about it.
Imagine Picking a Fight with Mario Kart with your p2w Racer
Reckon wave 2 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe extra content is due soon. Not sure anyone will choose the new bells and whistles in this over Nintendo's new content.
@RubyCarbuncle A sad day that will be. They still release the odd good game (though modern day SE seem to lack the talent or allowance of said talent these days), but most of their recent stuff has been very poor for me at least. Still need to give Triangle Strategy a go at some point, the rest of this year's releases have been hack jobs to say the least (well majority of the Q1 releases).
"Download it now"
Is this a threat?
Why is everyone talking about microtransactions? They got rid of those last month. I literally got the game a couple weeks ago, and unlocked all characters except one in 5 hours without spending a dime. Same can be done with vehicles and costumes. There's zero point in paying for in-game currency, unless you want everything unlocked without playing the game, which in fact, is quite fun.
@Clyde_Radcliffe You can polish a turd, but that takes effort. As in, that's where the corporate execs deem it not worth it and it's left to the fans to fix decades later with mods.
How bad exactly are the microtransactions on this?
Is it like "pay money to play more than one game every four hours"?
Or "progress only unlocked by paying real money?"
@Marxally Because most people here rear up and start hissing like rabid cats when they hear micro transactions without, ya know, reading into it.
But the same people are ready to buy DLC that will cost 1/3rd of the full price for Xenoblade 3 before the game is even out.
People are strange little creatures.
This looks (or looked in this case) like a fun time. Unfortunately, I don't wanna end up looking like an empty mana potion after I spend tons of fictional coins to get Cloud.
@KingMike There is no point in purchasing currency nor any other microtransactions. You can play whenever you want and everything can be unclocked just by playing. The only thing that can be considered microtransactions is the battlepass, but you get the currency you need to purchase it completly free and you earn a lot just by playing. People cyring in the comments don't know anything about the current state of the game.
@Marxally
ppl r sheep and hypebeasts, when this first released I was like damn ppl really love cloud and suall this much? The base game is a blast and Im fine maining cactuar forever.
