Re: Rumour: Crash Team Racing For Switch Might Not Release On 21st June 2019

MarioFanatic64

@andykara2003 Tracks are vastly more fun than MK64's mostly flat and empty tracks, and there are 20 of them instead of 16. Controls aren't as slidey as MK64. CTR introduced the "jump at the edge of the ramp to get a speed boost when you land" thing that later MK games would incorporate. There's a meter that appears when you drift that tells you when to release it for the best speed boost. Items riff off of MK but have their own nuances, like a proximity meter if an item is coming for you, and powered up items when you've maxed out your fruit (coins). Overall the game has a lot of character to it, which MK64 always lacked. And then there's the aforementioned Adventure mode.
I'd rank this and Diddy Kong Racing over MK64 any day.

Re: Hackers Have Now Found A Way To Emulate Nintendo 64 Games On Switch

>Switch is Nintendo's first real opportunity to release N64 games for handheld play.
>Nintendo Switch Online replaces VC.
>Currently it's only set to provide NES games.
>Other systems will likely take years because, come on, it's Nintendo.
>Who even knows if we'll even be able to play these games offline.
>Just like that, people dangle just how easy it would be to get N64 games playing on Switch.
>SM64 mods at that, which are known to be particularly fickle to get working correctly.
I understand entirely why people are turning to homebrew right now.

Re: Nintendo Has Detailed The USB Cables You Can Use To Safely Charge Your Switch

MarioFanatic64

I use the USB-C cable that came with the Pro Controller to charge my Switch when undocked, with a HTC USB wall plug.

Ever since 5.0 it won't charge for more than ten minutes before constantly disconnecting and reconnecting.

Before that I used the USB-C cable that came with one of the Hori licensed wired controllers. After 5.0, using that one straight up crashes my console while it sleeps and doesn't charge at all when awake.

5.0 is the problem here, not the chargers or docks.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)

MarioFanatic64

People predicting Mario Kart 9 here- and I predict it too, but on the basis of this logic:
Mario Kart 64 (Console) - 1998
Mario Kart Super Circuit (Handheld) - 2001
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (Console) - 2003
Mario Kart DS (Handheld) - 2005
Mario Kart Wii (Console) - 2008
Mario Kart 7 (Handheld) - 2011
Mario Kart 8 (Console) - 2014
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Hybrid) - 2017

Notice the pattern? The series alternates from handheld to console in the past, and with the exception of Double Dash, come in three year intervals. When it comes to the Switch it was a bit of a wildcard, but I can see the reasoning. They typically make one Mario Kart per console, but as Nintendo's next generation merges the handheld and console platforms they need a new strategy for consistent Mario Kart releases.

I imagine that the series will continue its three year intervals, and depending on whether Nintendo sticks to the Hybrid concept in the future, there'll be one 'Deluxe' version of the previous game with added features at the beginning of the console, and a brand new game some time later.

So if there's anyone holding their breath for a new Mario Kart game- maybe 2020's a bit too far off!

Re: Wreck-It Ralph 2 Gets a New Name and a Release Date

MarioFanatic64

About time! I remember shortly after the first movie was released and they were talking about bringing Mario in for the sequel. Seeing Mario on the big screen in CGI formis the only way it should have ever been conceived in the first place.

One big hope I have if Mario does make it in- I really hope Disney doesn't pull the "we all thought he was a good guy but then half way through it becomes apparent that he's a jackass" move, because that's something I can imagine Disney doing.
