Re: The Wii U First Launched Eight Years Ago Today

@SigourneyBeaver I still think it would have been much more successful if they had just packed it with a regular controller and marketed as an HD Wii. They were just trying to do too much with it. You could even do video calls with it, for crying out loud! Did anyone ever use that feature?

Re: Feature: The Story Of Virtual Tank, A Lost Virtual Boy Successor To Atari's Battlezone

I also was surprised at how fast the Virtual Boy died. I was 14 at the time, and knew nothing about the industry that I didn’t learn from Nintendo Power, so I was all-in on the Virtual Boy. My brother and I got one for Christmas that year and loved it. We had Red Alarm and Wario Land and I played the crap out of those games, and then I didn’t play anything else, because nothing else came out. It sat and collected dust for a year, and then I sold it to one of my buddies for a dollar. Shame this game never came out. It sounds like it would have been good!

Re: Review: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition - A Weak RPG Enlivened By Nostalgia

LunarFlame17

I remember passing on this game when it came to Gamecube cause it sounded mediocre. I was surprised when people were so excited about this remaster and thought maybe I had missed something after all, but this review sure confirms my original impressions of the game. Also, it’s wild to me that I’m old enough that there are adults who have childhood nostalgia for games that came out when I was an adult.

Re: Video: The Switch Is A Wii U Port Machine, And That's A Good Thing

LunarFlame17

I own a Wii U and a whole bunch of games for it, but I never got around to playing most of them. Now I’d rather play them on Switch, because the Switch is better than the Wii U in every way. $60 seems like a fair price to pay for these games for me, but if it doesn’t seem like it to you, don’t buy them! Seems like a simple solution to me.

Re: Soapbox: 25 Years On, I Still Can't Get Into Yoshi's Island

I cannot fathom not liking Yoshi’s Island. I mean, everyone has their own tastes, and that’s great, but it’s such a perfect game! I could understand not liking it if you don’t like 2d sidescrollers or 16-bit style games or whatever. But to like those kinds of games and not like Yoshi’s Island? Blows my mind!

Re: Soapbox: Confounded By The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cloud Save Situation? You're Not Alone

I'm still gonna buy the game, but this is astonishingly stupid. I have two Switches, and I do go between them, and the fact that I can’t with this game is just...why? What purpose does it serve? To keep people from cheating? What? It’s Animal Crossing! Who cares!? I try to give Nintendo the benefit of a doubt with this stuff, but come on! Why do they insist on shooting themselves in the foot like this all the time?

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

Here’s a funny story. I bought Wolfenstein II for Xbox One on Black Friday in 2017 for $20. I didn’t get around to playing it until the following May, shortly before it came out on Switch. When I did play it, I hated it. I finished it, but it was through sheer stubbornness. I didn’t enjoy the game at all. And then, because I’m stupid, I went ahead and bought the Switch version. The funny thing is, I loved it on Switch! And I loved it for all the reasons mentioned in this article. It turns out, I just prefer playing video games on Switch, even if they don’t look as good, because it’s so much more convenient. In fact, I ended up selling my Xbox One, and now the Switch is my only current gen console.
