Re: Here Are the Key Lessons that Nintendo Learned from the Wii U

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Everyone has their own preferences, certainly, but as far as I’m concerned, the Joy-Cons are fine. Are they perfect? Noooo. But considering how flexible they are, I’m certainly impressed at how well they work. I have pretty big hands, too, and even at that, I have no problem using the Joy-Cons for hours on end. I even have a Pro controller, and I kind of feel like it was a waste of money, considering how rarely I use it.

Oh man that game was soooooooo good. I was so disappointed that ActRaiser 2 stripped out the world-building elements. Such a frustratingly dull game compared to the outstanding original.

@Marshi I wouldn't argue that Nintendo is doing great. They're not doing nearly as badly as analysts and pundits would have you believe, but if you look at their financial results recently, they're either taking a loss or just barely making a profit. Not disastrous, but not great either.

I probably would have voted for Bravely Default as 3DS third-Party game of the year, but it's not out in the US yet, so I haven't played. My vote was for Etrian Odyssey IV, but Shin Megami Tensei IV was a close second. Man, such a good year to be a Nintendo fan, even with Nintendo's financial woes!

Re: Soapbox: Why We Should Expect More From The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD

My quick thought on this matter is: would you rather Nintendo add new dungeons and/or other new content to Wind Waker HD, or take that time and money and invest it into the next brand new Zelda for Wii U? I know I'd much rather have the latter. As awesome as a completely retooled Wind Waker would be, if it came at the cost of negatively impacting the new Zelda (and it would - both games are being made by the same team), it wouldn't be worth it to me.

I will never understand the theory that Nintendo would make boatloads of cash if they ported their games to iOS and Android. Who would want to play a Mario game on a touchscreen? Besides, the real money in mobile is with free-to-play and games like Candy Crush Saga and Clash of Clans. I don't know that Nintendo has any interest in or would even be successful with such a strategy. If they plopped down a bunch of old games in the App Store and sold them for 5 bucks a pop, I think a bunch of people would buy them for the novelty, but they would quickly realize that Nintendo games are no fun on a touchscreen. I sincerely doubt that Nintendo would be able to turn that into a long-term, sustainable business.
