Pre-orders for the awesome looking Mario LEGO set went live today, alongside a new video which gives us a good look at what we can expect to enjoy when it launches this summer. Amazingly, it's already received a negative user review despite the fact that it isn't even out yet.
Yes, checking out the Mario Starter Course on LEGO's UK website brings up one user review at the time of writing. The review was written by a user going by the name of Sonic11111, who awarded the unreleased set two stars out of five.
So, what problem has the user had with the product they haven't yet received? Well, not enough Sonic, apparently:
Amazing.
We're pretty used to seeing video games get review bombed these days - Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been slated by some upset players, and Astral Chain got it in the neck simply for being a Switch exclusive - but this somehow takes things to another level.
There's a lesson to be learned here, and that is to not be like Sonic11111.

I was wondering what they could have complained about it, and it all made sense when I saw the username
Why in the world does any website allow user reviews for products that aren’t out yet?
Ugh, utterly ridiculous.
Well at least they didn't give it all one star scores.
A Sonic fan complaining about a Mario Lego set......what year is this again?
Right....which one of you lot was it?
...What's it like to be bored enough to leave bogus troll reviews somewhere?
God I love the internet
I wonder what's it like to make an article on a kid or a troll? Must feel great for the clicks.
I would probably have given it a bad review because it has BJ.
This dude shouldn't be complaining, at least Sonic got an actual minifig
well i find it ugly and unispiring without actually having it. Or maybe mostly suited for small children, given the fact how big some pieces are / and yes lego allows comments based on their pictures.
Didn’t Sonic get stuff in lego dimensions?
And I thought the Sonic-Mario peace treaty of June 2001 meant something.
Quick, kill it! Kill it with fire!
Is that SammyClassicSonicFan? I knew the day would come when he resurfaced!
Was it really worth making an article about this? Lol slow day, huh?
Someone needs to tell this idiot that the Sega-Nintendo Console Wars ended almost 20 years ago, and now they're the best of friends.
@FullMetalWesker Lego Sonic has been out for ages, what with him being in Lego Dimensions and what not.
I can't even respond with anything snarky enough for this anymore. Another level indeed.
can't Sonic1111 be happy, that he's in Lego Dimensions?
Sonic hasn’t earned a LEGO set yet.
I know a blogger (also a Sonic fan) who reviewed a Switch back in 2017 during its release week.
Thing is, this person never owned or came remotely close to the device at the time. It was entirely based on what he saw on Youtube videos.
I’d say it’s a pretty common thing these days
Looks like this is just a troll guys, so don't feed him.
@Dakka-Dakka - more like "udderly" rediculous. b/c that dude is a tiddy-baby
That seems like a parody of early nineties school yard banter rather than someone actually trying to sway anybody else's opinion. ^^
Where is the lie?
Now this is news!
Chuckles. He's not wrong.
EDIT: /Sarcasm
What a giant baby.
i bet that entier review was made purposefully to be a joke
@Aozz101x No
@SonicAlpha Enjoy your thumb down.
@noswitchbutidc Thanks, I will. Enjoy another dose of sarcasm to go along with your apparent butt hurt 😂
@SonicAlpha Sarcasm doesn't travel well over the internet
@noswitchbutidc That's true, tone generally gets lost on the conversion to digital. I'll make sure to add tags in the future 👍
@SonicAlpha Sorry about the thumbs down. You on Discord?
@noswitchbutidc I served in the 16-bit Console Wars, a thumbs down is minor in comparison 😅
Honestly, don't worry about it. And yes, I'm on Discord: Sonic Alpha#4964
@SonicAlpha I'm @Dry Paper Hammer Broٴ#6089
To be fair, it works the other way too. Check out the dozens of breathless, astroturfing “Intellivision Amico” videos. That thing isn’t out yet either, but Tommy Tallarico will take your money right now. Looking forward to him calling me out as a hater.
Give the people the power to freely input data and you will get this, lol. Only lesson I learn here is I should be skeptic when drawing out conclusions from community-driven review metrics (or community-driven whatever for that matter).
