Well as a 38 year old who was playing video games at the age of 3, it's pretty much the best game I've played since Mario 64. I think about it at work, talk to friends about it gleefully.... No other game has had this effect on me in a very long time.
Hmmmmm... As much as I love oceanic themed games the mention of difficulty spikes puts me right off. I've new game plus, suffered through Bloodborne several times but suck at these sort of games.
@OorWullie It's so good. Kinda reminds me of a side scrolling Hotline Miami mixed with Quake? Amazed the Daily Mail hasn't run the usual "BAN THIS SICK FILTH" line on it.... ππ
Whilst I love my VB dearly (hello profile pic) I'm quite happy to leave it's software as is. ππ
Edit: and not once has it impaired or made my eyes hurt. Truly suspect it was the 90's equivalent of the 3DS scandal that did the rounds in the tabloids a few years ago)
I absolutely love my SNES mini, but just like the NES mini a fair few games I will likely never play. (Kirby looking at you) So I'm quite happy with what's on there, as is. Although no Stunt Race FX is unforgivable. ππ π
I only got mine thanks to an awesome pal who managed to snag me one when pre-orders first went live. I tried right up to launch day to get another (not to scalp) but had absolutely no luck! So thanks to him I am indeed very happy. π
It's funny though; my PS4 has given me one essential stone cold classic that I consider a masterpiece in Bloodborne. I've had my Switch for less than half a year and already had vastly more "fun" with it, and played more games I consider essential. Personal opinion of course. ππ
Starfox is in my opinion an absolute masterpiece. The way you honestly feel like your squad mates are actually flying along with you and engaging in the missions. Make sure you find the fruit machine! Blew my mind as a kid. ππ
@TurboTEF Mate I share your pain. I sold in the early noughties a near complete Neogeo pocket colour collection... Money was appreciated at the time but imagine how much it would be worth one day if I kept it.... Ho-hum. π
@Agent721 Mate, you are in for a world of joy. All the hate and bad press cannot hide the reality that the Virtual Boy is one of the most bizarrely brilliant consoles of all time! For >ULTRA VR< lay on your back in a dark room with it resting on your face. T&E Soft Golf is like the real thing. ππ
Slightly off topic but it always gets a mention in any VB article: I have never once suffered from headaches nor has anyone else in the nearly 20 years I've had my beloved Virtual Boy. ππ
During the early nineties there was a brilliant documentary about gaming as a whole, had an interview with the guy who made Ecco for example. There was a fantastic piece about Shigsy. They even showed him playing with his family and he made direct connections with specific real world architecture and its place in Starfox for example. Was absolutely superb. Wonder if I'm the only one old enough to remember it? πΆπ
Erm... Just went live (or so I thought) on the official website. Hastily ordered only to realise the description is of the Samus edition with the picture showing the SNES version!?
Firstly, oh do behave crappy 3rd rate company that many have never heard of... And secondly, why now? Why not when Switch was first unveiled? Oh of course... Because your a greedy fetid little company.
Wow. If anything this drastically shows how utterly out of touch they are as a developer. Worrying about a 2D game where they've been very popular (when done right) over 3D dirge that has been some of the worst 3D gaming throughout the last few gens. Surely they should be longing for the release of this in the hope it restores far more faith in Sonic as a brand? Certainly not worrying if people will take to it on not! Maybe somebody should show Sega how YouTube likes work? π
Something truly has to be done about scalpers. It's utterly horrid behaviour. I've even taken to reporting a chunk of them. I'm lucky enough to have got a pre order in via an amazing mate who knew I'd want one and ordered me one, but its so unfair to sell pre orders. Fair do's; if they hand them in hand - fine I guess.... But a pre-order?! Nope.
@Anguspuss That Sega combo you mentioned is the exact reason I'm not interested in getting one. Was the first thing I thought also. If at some stage it's a wireless system that simply connects to the base hardware.... Then I may be a tad more interested in owning one.
Ah the Guardians.... Once my absolute nemesis and instilled true horror. Now I have the proper shield and armour they are surprisingly easy to deal with! Great article and thanks! These have been the hardest of all things to find I've found...
This has only once again highlighted the farce that is Amiibo availability. Fortunately I have all the Zelda ones, but clicking on the Amazon link which states Β£9.99 takes you to scalper land and prices of 60 quid! Was curious so went to eBay.... An unboxed Smash Bros Link is Β£35.00! Why on earth are Nintendo not making more of these? They must have realised how high demand would be for related Amiibo's?
So..... Lovely yes. But what about any form of campaign? (Unless I've missed that stated) I absolutely loved the originals story mode and boss fights. It's a big deal for me!!

That was a damn fine well written review.
Re: Rumours Swirl Around a 'Game Boy Classic' Trademark, But Don't Get Too Excited
It seems vastly more likely than an N64 mini. As much as I would love one I just don't see it (or any subsequent Mini) happening, for various reasons.

@frogopus Complete agree. Has really restored my love in a good Indie after finding it all becoming a bit stale on Vita etc...
