Excellent article. Genuinely I was always very lucky back in the UK with GAME. The branches I visited back in the day always had excellent and friendly staff. I remember when Fallout 3 came out: took the 360 game case to the counter and the guy I'd got to know fairly well took it, turned to the back of the counter and proceeded to give me the special edition at no extra charge with a friendly little wink. (I'm unsure how the inventory works but he was the manager I believe so....) But I do also remember the very same chap getting an earful from some absolute moron who had bought a 360 game only for it to not work on his OG Xbox and proceed to just shout at him: BUT IT'S AN XBOX?! THOSE NUMBER SHOULDN'T MEAN NUFFIN?! I think by and large they suffered vastly more than any customer rant you ever see online!
Was the first Persona I played; took a punt on something different and have loved 5 equally. Serious question: would 3 be worth my time? I've read the review and am still unsure!
I really REALLY miss my Virtual Boy. It died because of the infamous ribbon cable perishing - watched a tutorial on how to fix it and made it a million times worse. Now it's just a sad pointless robot like chicken living sad and alone in my spare room.
A pal and me pre-ordered one each from Game, but I had to cancel my pre-order as my Citroen AX needed brake pads and discs. Got one for my 19th birthday shortly afterwards so was all good! π Those metal Mario graphics still look amazing even today. Adore the N64.
Well for me - it's a masterpiece! Seriously, dunno why but I honestly find this game so utterly brilliant and just pure old school fun. I don't find the combat side janky at all oddly? Have it on XSX and PS5 I love it so much!
As a massive fan of R-Type final was really looking forward to this so downloaded the demo, it feels wrong somehow?! And the collision detection is off, how?!
On a side note, has anyone else noticed the complete lack of Amiibo's to buy on the Nintendo store? For months now there's been around 4! (Once all the recent Monster Hunter sold out)
Do you know, I took the plunge and bought Doom Eternal - I have it for my PS4/5 but am always a fan of a de-make! I'm not just saying this due to fanboyism or the like, but aside from it being obviously not as pretty, I find it vastly easier to play for some reason?
I have to say I'm somewhat baffled (not such much here but other sites) by the dislike for Skyward Sword, am I really the only person who considers it an absolute masterpiece?! I get it in that yes the Wind Waker is the preferred choice I guess, but that in no way should take away from Skyward Sword, genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. Especially that entire genius section with the time hopping robot things... (It's been a while and is a tad fuzzy! )
@Paperboy Maybe I'm being a tad harsh! It just feels very sluggish compared to the Megadrive versions, even the Master System and Game Gear versions felt more fluid? I love the NGPC though, truly wish I hadn't sold most of my collection a few years back.
@DanteSolablood I totally agree! One of my biggest regrets selling 15 years ago a near perfect collection of NGP's and pretty much all the clam shell released pal games - amazing little machine.
@Kalmaro For me, the Souls series and Bloodborne (so From games basically!) are the perfect examples of online gaming done perfectly. There is absolutely nothing quite like it. So positive and amazing camaraderie.
As somebody who rage deleted Bloodborne more than a dozen times... Only to feel it calling me back and to then go on to new game plus it several times over, I absolutely cannot wait to play Dark Souls again.... Handheld. Is a massive draw for me!!
Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question, but how do these companies not get sued? As in other news, merely having a similar joystick configuration has got that Japanese mobile company in trouble. What am I missing?
@holchasaur Wow... It's been about 20 years lol!! But yes, on a beach there are some rocks with a hidden entrance to a cavern. Blew me away back then! We so take from granted in this day and age how amazing it was to find stuff like this is games back then. ππ
Of all the Wii games I regret not owning it is this! Will defo hunt down a copy now. Also, San Francisco Rush on N64 was absolutely brilliant! Had so much fun back in the day. Did anyone else find the hidden skate park style cavern on the remote part of the beach? So awesome!
I really cannot decide if it's for me or not? Does anyone play it just pro controller or handheld? Can't be bothered with motion controls of any kind these days. Does it play ok controller wise?
Bit soppy but my then to be, now wife buying me a GameCube with Mario Sunshine. This was around 2002 and I was struggling to make ends meet at the time so felt so left behind! We had just moved in together, still have it now and every Christmas since about 2003 check in our Animal Crossing village.
I am usually a huge Nintendo forgiver / apologist... But the state of all these rewards, and that fact that more specifically there is nothing available for Switch is utterly disgraceful. I apparently have some due to expire yet have nothing to spend them on and never had.
Burnout Paradise is my second favourite game of all time after Super Mario 64. If this is true and we get a release here in the UK I might actually just die from pure joy. π
I have to say after years of amazing service from Amazon, something delivery wise definitely isn't up to scratch these days. Have had a disproportionate number of items vanish or be delivered to the wrong address (apparently) To be fair however, they've always resolved it without quibbling.
