Re: Best Of 2024: Tricks Of The Trade-In - Chronicles Of An Ex-GAME Employee

Excellent article. Genuinely I was always very lucky back in the UK with GAME. The branches I visited back in the day always had excellent and friendly staff. I remember when Fallout 3 came out: took the 360 game case to the counter and the guy I'd got to know fairly well took it, turned to the back of the counter and proceeded to give me the special edition at no extra charge with a friendly little wink. (I'm unsure how the inventory works but he was the manager I believe so....) But I do also remember the very same chap getting an earful from some absolute moron who had bought a 360 game only for it to not work on his OG Xbox and proceed to just shout at him: BUT IT'S AN XBOX?! THOSE NUMBER SHOULDN'T MEAN NUFFIN?! I think by and large they suffered vastly more than any customer rant you ever see online!

A pal and me pre-ordered one each from Game, but I had to cancel my pre-order as my Citroen AX needed brake pads and discs. Got one for my 19th birthday shortly afterwards so was all good! 😁 Those metal Mario graphics still look amazing even today. Adore the N64.

Do you know, I took the plunge and bought Doom Eternal - I have it for my PS4/5 but am always a fan of a de-make! I'm not just saying this due to fanboyism or the like, but aside from it being obviously not as pretty, I find it vastly easier to play for some reason?

I have to say I'm somewhat baffled (not such much here but other sites) by the dislike for Skyward Sword, am I really the only person who considers it an absolute masterpiece?! I get it in that yes the Wind Waker is the preferred choice I guess, but that in no way should take away from Skyward Sword, genuinely one of the best games I've ever played. Especially that entire genius section with the time hopping robot things... (It's been a while and is a tad fuzzy! )

Bit soppy but my then to be, now wife buying me a GameCube with Mario Sunshine. This was around 2002 and I was struggling to make ends meet at the time so felt so left behind! We had just moved in together, still have it now and every Christmas since about 2003 check in our Animal Crossing village.
