Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park - Inessential Bells & Whistles

@SBandy1
Agree 100%
I was just talking to a friend about Nintendo 2 weeks ago and told him that Nintendo has this M.O. of when they are doing well, they don't mind curb stomping their fans, but when they are doing bad, they give games away.

I remember when Mario Kart 8 was released for the Wii U, they had 3 games you could pick from for free. I picked Pikmin 3. Then Mario Kart 8 comes out for Switch 1 and sells like gangbusters!

I honestly feel they are trying to replicate that with Switch 1 games on Switch 2, and it is not going to happen!

I also told by friend that the Switch 1 dropped at the right time. It was a portable Nintendo System, and a Nintendo Home Console, that had the same amount of technical power.

The Switch was the hybrid that fans wanted and needed, and then the pandemic hit, which made it even more popular.

Nintendo did what they needed to do, and did it well, because they were coming off of a failed console. They delivered to the fans for that reason.

Now Nintendo's Hubris is back, and they are falling into the idea that fans do not matter......It's not like they listen to them anyway!

There is no way that Switch 2 sales will ever reach Switch 1 sales. Don't get me wrong, It is going to sell great. But nowhere near the numbers of the Switch 1.

Re: Preview: Five Takeaways From My Time With Virtual Boy On Nintendo Switch Online

I still have my original VB.
That being said, I would buy this in a heartbeat if it came with all Nintendo VB games on 1 cartridge.

I have commented multiple times that people are F'ing fed up with subscription based models, and would prefer physical cartridges!

I am done with subs and their ability to end, and not owe you a damn thing, and you are left with a $100 piece of plastic that is now acting like a paperweight.

NOPE! NOT BUYING!

@Simu001
EXACTLY! This is why I cannot get behind a sub service.
I am Gen-X, born in 74 and I honestly feel that the majority of my generation still loves being able to hold what they purchase.

It is so hard for me to buy an only digital game, your reason being one of the many.
Nintendo can just say, we are shutting it down, and then people are left without nothing to play on the headset they purchased. The terms and agreements are very clear about what Nintendo can take down, or put up, on Nintendo Online Service.

I just got my Analogue 3D so I can play my N64 games in high res.....Not paying for a sub!

Re: Japan's National Library Says Game-Key Cards Are Not Eligible For Preservation

Kriandis

I have always said that if gaming goes all digital, or with this game card BS, that is going on now, I will just stop being a console gamer.
I have enough back catalogues of games that I will be kept busy for the rest of my life.
I am also a huge movie buff, and still continue to collect, and buy physical.
If these companies want my hard earned money, I better have a product I can hold.....Other wise, FU!

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?

Kriandis

The day that console gaming goes fully digital is the day I am done.

I have played games since the Odyssey, and I have more than enough physical back catalog games to keep me busy for 2 to 3 lifetimes.

I will only ever buy what I can hold in my hand. If that is not good enough for the gaming companies, f'em! I will not be bullied by a game company into making me accept that what I purchase is not mine!

Re: Nintendo Is (Kinda) Returning To Region-Locking With A Cheaper Japanese Switch 2

Kriandis

I will not be buying one at launch. I have a huge back catalogue on Switch, PS5 and PC to keep me busy for a while.
I also found the Dierct very underwhelming. The majority of the launch titles are games that have been out for years on other systems, or ones that I have already played on another system.

The price does not warrant a day 1 purchase, and although I like Mario Kart, I do not love it, and can wait on purchasing both. I did not buy a Switch until a year after it launched, so I will probably wait for a collector edition Switch 2.

Re: Poll: Will You Trade In Your Switch When Switch 2 Arrives?

Kriandis

I have an original Switch that was the Mario Odyssey edition with two red controllers, and my current OLED Switch is the Tears Of The Kingdom edition.
I will probably sell my Mario Switch with box on ebay, but there is no way in hell I am getting rid of my TOK OLED Switch.

Re: Random: PlayStation's Astro Bot Director Pays Tribute To Mario And Nintendo In GOTY Speech

"And I've managed not mention them, have you noticed? But you all know who they are"

Nintendo is the Bee's Knee's!
They are just amazingly consistent, and I have loved every Nintendo game that I have ever put into every Nintendo system that I own!

Like Doucet said, Nintendo is always about quality!
When I look at the game industry and how much dissaray it has been going through in the last 3 to 5 years, Nintendo has never faltered.

I cannot say enough about how much I love Nintendo. Their one, and most important motivating factor for the games they make is,....FUN.....JUST FUN!!! That is the only qualifying factor you need when making a game.

Astrobot is FUN!
