We've all been there; while our parents are busy with work to put food on the table, as children we were often left to fend for ourselves. We'd wager most readers here will have opted for a bit of gaming to pass the time, and if so then you're in some fine company; the sons of ex-Beatle George Harrison and folk singer Bob Dylan did exactly the same thing while their fathers were busy making music.
As reported by Rolling Stone (via Showbiz CheatSheet), Dhani Harrison and Jakob Dylan loved playing a bit of Duck Hunt on the NES while their fathers were working on a little album called 'Traveling Wilburys Vol.3' in the room downstairs.
The album was the second from so-called 'ultimate supergroup' Traveling Wilburys, which consisted of music icons George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison. Now, we love Duck Hunt, but can you imagine opting to sit out of watching such legends create music together? Perhaps even Dhani and Jakob got a bit embarrassed of their parents' shenanigans from time to time!

Brilliant! And of course, whenever Dhani Harrison is mentioned, it would be remiss to not mention his perfomance with former Willburys members and Prince at George Harrison’s memorial concert.

Cool article, but I'm here to give some more attention to Traveling Wilburys. Those guys were seriously fire together
George Harrison was the best Beatle, yet the most underrated.
@Nontendo_4DS Prince was an incredible guitarist and very very underrated!
Say, why isn't this game on NSO yet? Release the Wii U version with pointer controls and make it Joy-Con only, and/or release a wireless NES Zapper peripheral. Seems simple enough.
Not that I'm dying to play Duck Hunt, but every first-party game that isn't included with NSO is a little disappointing. Even the region-exclusive ones. Give us Super Mario RPG, Mario & Wario, Mario Paint... heck, throw in the original Animal Forest and the Japan-only 64DD games like Mario Artist. Would be a really cool novelty that would give the NSO subscription more value. Oh--and the Satellaview games with online events. DO IT, YOU COWARDS!
@Nontendo_4DS Prince was a freaking monster on guitar, even if his hit songs rarely showed that side of him. Somebody once asked Eric Clapton who he thought was the greatest living guitar player, his answer was Prince.
Funny - I was just listening to this album on a road trip through West Virginia a week ago. There really won't even be another collab like that again I think. Heck, no one would really care if today's artists got together. Not saying today's music is bad - just few and far between and awfully forgettable.
@CaptainCluck Oh man, I’m a HUGE George fan. Easily my favorite Beatle. And you know what? Yeah, he’s actually just my all time favorite musician period.
@Not_Soos
Better yet, release the VS. version so we can SHOOT THE DOG!
"OUCH !!
SHOOT THE DUCKS, NOT ME !!"
I learned, recently, that player 2 could control the ducks.
@Not_Soos Now that would be amazing and would certainly make me happy to keep subscribed at least for a while. I'd love to play around with the F Zero X 64DD version that came with a track editor in particular.
Prince played every instrument and sang every vocal on his first album. He played all 27 instruments.
I believe he did the same on his next 2 albums as well.
Ah, the times before lip-syncing, auto-tune, and manufactured stars. In the past year or so I heard a British popstar being interviewed, promoting her third studio album; and she didn't know what a tuba is.
When they pointed to the member of the band playing one she said "Oh, the horn thingy!"
This is as random as it gets, so right category I guess.
@Nontendo_4DS nice username & profile pic
Traveling Wilbury's were amazing! Jeff Lynne is my favorite songwriter and musician. His band Electric Light Orchestra is my fave band!
