The Jupiter Corporation, publishers of the puzzler Picross series, has today announced that they are going to be running a summer sale, with discounts across many of its titles. The sale will run from August 12th to 18th in Europe and will arrive a day earlier in North America, Hong Kong and South Korea, running from August 11th to 17th.
It will come as no surprise that the renowned nonogram puzzle series makes up the majority of the titles going on sale, with all of the Switch editions getting a nice 20% discount.
Here's a full list of all of the games receiving that reduction:
- Working Zombies
- PICROSS S GENESIS & Master System Edition
- Picross Lord Of The Nazarick
- Kemono Friends Picross
- KEMONO FRIENDS PICROSS
- Picross S7
- Picross S6
- Picross S5
- Picross S4
- Picross S3
- Picross S2
- Picross S
Furthering the Picross S series, Jupiter has announced that the latest addition to the franchise, Picross S8 will be released in the Fall of this year. This should coincide with the European and North American release of Picross X: Picbits Vs Uzboross, which has already been made available for players in Japan.
Remember, we're currently offering 10% off Nintendo Switch eShop credit in our own store sale too, so you can save even more on these titles by grabbing discounted credit to spend.

I love Picross yet have actually never picked up any of Jupiter's Switch catalogue as of now. Might have to change that depending on how cheap these are!
The Mega Drive picross was okay - lots of really obscure characters in there. Lets you discover Sega classics you didn't know about, but is especially fun when you actually do recognise them. (I liked seeing that Suketoudara was one puzzle lol..) Though it has to be said the Fantasy Zone Stage 1 music used as the BGM started to get a bit grating after a while being stuck on a puzzle (though I do normally like Fantasy Zone's OST)
I don't know if I like Picross enough to want to really buy a bunch of these though.
@EarthboundBenjy I actually just played through that too having gotten it through a recent sale and I’m glad to hear you say that because I had thought maybe it was just me. I grew up as a Nintendo kid and only really played Sega games later on through GameCube compilations and such and there was a ton I didn’t recognize.
Overlord Picross is interesting, it popped up when I was looking for the Clementine game. Maybe I'll grab it now.
Looking at that list, is "Kemono Friends Picross" a different game from "KEMONO FRIENDS PICROSS" or was it a typo? Is the latter a remake where everything is all caps?
I'm currently playing Picross e8 whenever I'm not playing Xenoblade. Started it about a week ago and I'm almost done. Just need to solve the last 60 or so Mega Picross puzzles. After that, I'm all out of Picross games so I think it's time to get the Sega one and play it once I crave for more puzzle solving action.
Let's do the math.
There were 9 Picross e games on the 3DS, then there's the themed games: Club Nintendo Picross, Club Nintendo Picross Plus, My Nintendo Picross The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Pokémon Picross, Sanrio Characters Picross and Pictlogica Final Fantasy (yeah, it's not called Picross, but it plays like one).
That's 15 Picross games on the 3DS, but 12 available worldwide (e9, Club Nintendo Plus and Pictlogica Final Fantasy were only released in Japan)
On the Switch there will be 8 Picross S eventually, plus the themed ones: Kemono Friends Picross, Lord of Nazarick, Mega Drive & Master System Edition and the upcoming Picross X: Picbits vs. Uzboross.
That'll be 12 Picross games on the Switch by the end of the year, the same number of games on the 3DS available worldwide.
Can me and my wallet handle so much Picross? Especially considering I got the entire Picross e series and themed games on the 3DS during the sale last June. So far on the Switch, I only have Picross S and the SEGA one.
Which are the best? Is it a good idea to buy the Sega and the 7th?
@HammerGalladeBro Did you count the GB and SFC Mario Picross games on 3DS Virtual Console?
I’d really love remasters of Picross 3D and Picross 3D Round 2 on Switch.
@TMG44 If you prefer touch controls, I think Picross S7 is the only one that has support for that. Otherwise, you could start with any of the numbered ones or a themed ones.
I think the Sega one also has Sega music for background music, if you like that.
@EarthboundBenjy I didn't, but if we do...
The 3DS has 17 Picross games (18 if you count Picross 3D Round 2), with 14 (15) games available worldwide.
On the other hand, if we count Mario's Super Picross on the NSO app, the Switch will have 13 Picross games eventually.
@Tandy255 Touch controls would be even better and I like it when the Picross is themed like the Twilight Princess one, so thanks for the advice I will take those two.
@Tandy255 Kind of baffling it took them until entry 7 to add touch controls when it was a series basically birthed on the DS/3DS, isn't it? I'll probably just start from 1 myself and gradually work my way through the rest of them (it's picross: I doubt I'll be in much of a rush to finish them quickly).
@Fizza birthed on 3DS? It was a GameBoy game originally!
@Fizza I prefer button controls, but they really should add touch control support retroactively for the older games.
@StuTwo As someone who adores Mario's Picross on SNES, there's really no excuse for me not to know that 😅
@Tandy255 Same here honestly.
I have Hatsune Miku Picross but I've had the Jupiter games on my wishlist waiting for a sale for ages. I guess it's finally time to get a normal non-musical picross game.
Really wish these were on the 3DS as thats the only way I play Picross. But can never get my head around Mega Picross.
Randomly was walking through an airport not long a go and saw someone doing manual picross with a book and pencil, it blew my mind.
@Fizza There's always the excuse that it was 30 years ago. It's getting to the point where if you're old enough to remember the GameBoy you probably can't remember the GameBoy anymore!
Playing s7 it does kind of stand out how little the pictures actually resemble what they're supposed to be any more. I suppose they used the most easily recognisable objects in s1 and s2.
A warning for anyone interested in the Mega Drive/Master System themed one, it's an extremely low-effort product... I've finished every puzzle in it, so I can't say I didn't get my money's worth (I bought it in the last sale), but it's so disappointing.
The Mega Picross puzzles are all just duplicates of the standard Picross puzzles rather than unique images, there's only 1 song per mode (so get used to hearing that 1 song!) and there's no reward for completing every puzzle, not even a message. A message pops up when you complete each section, but the only thing you get for finishing every puzzle is a label on the main screen showing your total time.
The actual quality of the puzzles is often quite low, with them being completely inscrutable on completion until they get colourised - almost as if they were computer-generated from a collection of images with no human interaction beyond that point. The one exception is the colour puzzles, but they're all very easy and there aren't very many of them - plus, even as someone with perfect colour vision, some of the colour choices make them trickier than they need to be... Good luck if you have any kind of colour blindness.
The whole product is very unsatisfying - if you like picross, you'll get something out of it, but it leaves a bad taste for sure. Avoid it and maybe check out something like Murder By Numbers instead.
