Publisher Hakama has announced that Worth Life will be making its way to the west on July 14th, 2022. The game comes from producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto, whose previous credits include the likes of Story of Seasons and Rune Factory.
It released in Japan last year on June 24th, 2021, but Switch owners in the west can pre-order on the eShop from July 7th, with a lovely 20% discount applied for early birds.
Here's a run down of the game from Hakama:
Two seasoned professionals of the farming and life simulation genre—producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto and artist Igusa Matsuyama—have come together to create WORTH LIFE, a side-scrolling fantasy RPG. Playing as one of 30 individuals summoned by the king, WORTH LIFE sees you set off on a journey to save the kingdom from a terrible fate. During your quest, you'll be able to raise crops on vacant lots you come across, and build houses for people in need. You'll even be able to take up your sword and bow to face off against monsters. Forge your own path to restoring prosperity and happiness to the kingdom!
Judging from the trailer itself, we're not overly keen on the visual style, but this is definitely one to keep an eye on in the run up to its release, nevertheless.

Fantasy Life spiritual successor?!
I was hoping this would head west. Will put it on the list. My budget is shot until around October so day1 buys will be limited.
Art style is fairly hideous and the platforming looks excruciatingly stiff. That being said, the devs have proven they know what they’re doing in previous games.
Looks like an ugly shovelware mobile game.
It's for someone. Not for me, but someone.
Worth Life?
More like Worth Less.....
Ouch tough crowd. :/
I'm okay with the art style, what holds me back is fitting yet another game on my schedule and bank account
The art style would have been fine if the games animation didn’t look like a sketchy mobile game ad.
Despite the 10fps mess of Rune Factory 5, I trust the creators of RF to know how to make a compelling game. But....this looks....rough....
How are the reviews in Japan?
I don't like being harsh on new games, but I do just despise the way all the characters on screen bob and wobble a bit. It's not charming, it's just an admission from the developer that their game lacks visual stimulation and they can't conceive/animate anything better.
I think the folks over at squeenix no longer have the crappiest character designs (That SaGa remaster ugh). I’m also pretty sure tweeting animation has been outlawed in the Geneva Convention.
The description sounded like Fantasy Life and was enticing but watching the trailer screams a lot more Maple Story to me…
I had just heard of it yesterday and I bought it. It's not the greatest game ever but it's good and unique. So far I've enjoyed 10 hours so I've already gotten my money's worth (I look at it as every 2 hours is worth 10 dollars since that's what I'd pay for a movie ticket).
It could use more tutorial but that's not a game breaker. And as far as the graphics go... I like them? Like side scrolling Animal Crossing.
@KoiTenchi naw bro, it's like MapleStory on crack if anything. It is way more advanced than MapleStory.
That said.... MapleStory would be PERFECTTTT for the Switch. I'd even pay for it.
@NEStalgia like 6s and 7s
@nessisonett you disliking the art style I get. The platforming is very smooth though. Just isn't coming across that way to you for some reason, but I assure you, as someone with 13 hours in the game, it's quite smooth.
