Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

KociolekDoSyta

@LoroTalby "For all the hundreds of pro-physical game posts we see, could we at least see one representing the other side of the argument?"

There's no argument, what's wrong with digital games? Are they unavailable? We're talking about stupid game-key cards instead of a full physical release. That's the problem. If you're good with digital games that's fine. On the other fence, people want full games on physical. So I don't understand what you're writing about.

  • in general, both have their advantages and disadvantages. It's all about full game on carts, that's why it's so loud about it.

Re: "Nothing's Perfect" - TOTK Might Still Struggle On Switch 2, If You're Building Crazy Mechs

KociolekDoSyta

@Medic_alert Well yes kinda, like they're saying

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/04/the-switch-2-will-emulate-switch-games-because-it-shares-no-internal-hardware-with-its-predecessor

"If we tried to use technology like software emulators...we’d have to run Switch 2 at full capacity, but that would mean the battery wouldn't last so long, so we did something that’s somewhere in between a software emulator and hardware compatibility."

Essentially, instead of pure emulation, the team developed a system that can translate and play Switch game data in real time. This saves the battery life, and overcomes the incompatibility problem. It's interesting to see the transparency here, Nintendo are working through games on the Switch 2, finding that some are not running so well, whilst others benefit, with the aim to ensure full compatibility with not just the Switch 2 console, but its new camera and Game Chat functions.

Re: Switch 2 Game Cart Max Capacity Is 64GB, Says CD Projekt Red

KociolekDoSyta

@tho_mi I don't think so. 1st party games probably will never reach even 32GB. 3rd parties won't bother with additional costs that will come with this.

@datamonkey Even without patches at least 90% of games you can finish for start to finish and that's what I expect when I'm buying physical media. Patches are alright only when they don't require downloading one that's the the size of the base game itself. That already has been the case for Switch games.

Re: Switch 2 Game Cart Max Capacity Is 64GB, Says CD Projekt Red

KociolekDoSyta

Overpriced, expensive format with low capacity where even 64GB might not be enough at some point for Switch 2 games. Good job Nintendo, just like with the first Switch. Companies will use game-key cards more often, because they will want to maximize profits without getting into unnecessary expenses. Primary reason why I'm not getting the new console as I am/was a physical collector.

Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?

KociolekDoSyta

@Anti-Matter 1st party will be full, yes. 3rd parties? You know, Switch 2 is in the age of 50+GB AAA titles. Companies won't pay for 64GB carts and everyone will see either game-key cards or something like let's say L.A. Noire where you had do download the rest of the game. It will be prety ugly, again. Smaller games should be fine, but it depends. It's Limited Run Games & co all over again situation, instead of giving people full games for even higher prices now. It's just unbeliavable to me.

So in summary, a lot of 3rd party big releases will be a game-key card. That's why Nintendo came up with this bullcrap, for them. To save their money, not buyer's and not with the idea that you can resell them. Remember, they're corporations and all they care about is profit with as little effort as possible.

Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?

KociolekDoSyta

@Anti-Matter Nintendo games will ALWAYS be full on cart, no matter what. 1. They don't take a lot of space. 2. They would never do it, because it's their own invention (carts). At least that from them.

All the others, I don't even want to talk about it. We all had the demo experience from buying carts for first Switch, code in a box nonsense and prelude to game-key card aka Metal Gear Solid Collection for example.

Re: Video: Switch 2's "Faster" Load Times Showcased With Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

KociolekDoSyta

@Medic_alert Yes, but then there's a new problem with the game-key cards that I predict will be a large % of the "physical" releases, so I wouldn't count on that. Exactly this about digital as well, one + the other.

@BenAV You know, it just depends on the person. I love having all my games with me without having to download them over and over again. Others will be happy with for example 256 or 512GB overall. Play game, finish, remove and download another.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

KociolekDoSyta

Well, pay absolutely for everything Directly kind of Direct. And pay a lot, especially for digital games or "physicals" (game-key cards) that I'm suspecting will be around 60%-70% overall. Beside that I like the hardware, except for the battery that right after "physicals" is a reason for me to not get it. Well, I'm happy tho for all the people who will buy it and will have fun with it. You'll finally get some strong machine that will be able to keep up with new releases.

Re: The Switch 2's Battery Is Almost A Match For The Steam Deck's

KociolekDoSyta

"Kawamoto: The battery life was another factor we had to balance. A high-performance processor and large system memory consume a lot of power, which reduces battery life. However, as we were finding that balance, we also needed to keep in mind that people will be playing on the go. We made various efforts to ensure the battery life wouldn't be reduced significantly, such as increasing the battery capacity to 1.2 times that of Switch."

They just took the wrong Switch for a comparison, the original one instead of OLED version. Absolutely not good enough and people will complain.

Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"

KociolekDoSyta

@skywake I'm familiar with the x86 architecture compared to ARM. Look at Ally X and its battery life. It's heavier, more bulky, but I guess that I don't have any other choice now for new games. I don't want to always carry a powerbank with me, this should not be the case with a portable gaming console. Allright, maybe, but I don't see myself pluggin in a console after 2h of gaming.

People were not satisfied, that's why they made OLED version. Same as with Deck OLED and Ally X. It's achievable and I'm sure that Nintendo will do it at some point as well, but I'm tired of playing their games and buying a refresh after a couple of years. They could have pulled it out right now, but they didn't and with this they lost me. People will complain about it sooner or later, just like with the first revision of Switch.

Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"

KociolekDoSyta

@LikelySatan I love it as well, I have a modded Switch and a modded PS Vita (btw all my games are legal, physicals). I'm looking at Deck but the battery life is also below my expectations, so I'll wait for the new ROG Ally and I'll just install Linux on it. Maybe SteamOS will be available somewhere at launch, that would be awesome. Oh, I've been using ExaGear for years, Winlator just recently on my phone and I love it.
