Re: Community: 12 Nintendo Switch Games We Missed, Recommended By You

Kochambra

@Andy_Witmyer Being a big Etrian Odyssey fan, I tried the demo and found the gameplay quite fun. The writing, on the other hand, was utter garbage IMHO. Painfully unfunny nonsense (I'm assuming they were trying to be funny, though I may be wrong) flowing from the mouth of obnoxious characters that just kept gabbing endlessly. It was such a chore to sit through the stupid cutscenes that I have yet to go back to what otherwise seems like a fine enough etrianlike.

Re: One Of The World's Most Famous Footballers Is Coming To Fortnite, And He Can Turn Into A Robot Cat

Kochambra

@RadioHedgeFund "One cannot make an argument for footballers being overpaid"
Oh, one definitely can. Haven't you heard that the biggest European clubs tried to form their own "super league" because those poor, poor presidents are barely managing to make ends meet? Those ball jugglers are getting payed more money than they are able to generate. The very definition of over-payed.

Re: Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute Announced For Nintendo Switch

Kochambra

@Paperboy No, the Cotton reboot isn't out in Europe yet.
There is a western physical release available for preorder in the Strictly Limited Games website. There may well be another, more widely available physical release in the future, but if you really want a physical copy of Cotton, it may be a good idea to buy this one while it's available.

Re: DC Super Hero Girls: Teen Power Is Coming To Switch This June

Kochambra

When I saw this on the Direct, my first thoughts were somewhere on the neighborhood of "WTF?!". But the more I watched, the more I thought "hey this looks like it could turn out to be something akin to a good Lego game". You know, a fun, light romp for the young ones... and the not so young. I enjoyed a few of the Lego games before their formula got too repetitive, so I'll keep an eye on this one, just in case.

Re: Star Wars Video Games Join Forces Under Lucasfilm Games

Kochambra

The real Lucasfilm Games had an incredible run of games until they disbanded their graphic adventure team, eventually devolving into a Star Wars sausage-making machine.
This new so-called "Lucasfilm Games" is just another empty husk owned but that hungry behemoth that used to be the Disney Company. Isn't it weird, how Disney turned into something akin to the all-devouring evil Blot in Epic Mickey?

Re: Best Of 2020: The Making Of Streets Of Rage 4, By The People Who Made It Happen

Kochambra

@MakkaroniOni "I actually was, but when people tell me that the game genre is nothing for me because I don't see it like they do, I'm not sure how they mean it... in other words excluding others for having a different view."
I said that the beat 'em up genre may not be for you after you devoted 80%-90% of your first reply to complain about the "generic story" and "paper.thin characters", And quite frankly, I can't remember a single beat 'em up that had anything but a generic story and paper-thin characters. Since you had just stated how important a game's story is for you and since you were looking for deep stories and characters in a genre that has rarely if ever provided anything of the sort, I just told you that "this particular genre may not be for you".

"And no, I'm not looking for a fight. I don't even know what makes you think like that"
There are several factors, but let me just quote your previous message:
"to say that this game is like Bayonetta is for me a punch in the face"
You're comparing another person's opinion about a game (let me reiterate: not about you, about a game) to a punch in the face, to a personal attack. Not interested in exchanging punches, sorry.

Re: Best Of 2020: The Making Of Streets Of Rage 4, By The People Who Made It Happen

Kochambra

@MakkaroniOni "what is so unique about this beat'em up that others had not?!" The gameplay which, as I said, is anything but clunky. Quite the opposite, in fact. This game is almost like a 2D version of the Bayonetta games: Rich, enjoyable and finely tuned combat mixed with a cartoony/over-the top premise.
Anyway, the fact that you're bringing up "generic story" and "paper-thin characters" as cons against this game, makes me think that this particular genre may not be for you. But hey, to each their own.

Re: Best Of 2020: The Making Of Streets Of Rage 4, By The People Who Made It Happen

Kochambra

One of the best games I've played this year.
@MakkaroniOni What is so special, you ask? For starters, that there's nothing clunky about it. It's a near-perfect distillation of the classic tropes of its genre, with enough nuance to make each playable character feel distinct and unique.
@TimboSlice Actually, some people intelligently add both this and the equally great Paper Mario The Origami King and Pikmin 3 to their GOTY lists.

Re: Ash Williams Returns In Evil Dead: The Game, Coming To Switch In 2021

Kochambra

Hail to the REAL king, baby! Not to that hollow alien-hunting copycat.
I love this series and I think it's often overlooked just how influential it has been on modern cinema. I mean, look at Peter Jackson's entire career. Not just his earlier gory comedies; there are shots in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy that feel directly lifted from Army of Darkness. Many modern filmakers worship Raimi's work in these movies, and with good reason. Evil Dead 2 in particular shouldn't be left out of any conversation about the greatest films of the 80s, whatever the genre.
So more Evil Dead is good in my book, whatever the form it takes. Keep those deadites coming!

Re: Persona 5 Strikers Launches On Switch In The West In February, New Trailer And Screenshots

Kochambra

Still totally uninterested in playing the second half of a story without being able to play the first part on the same console.
On the bright side, this still hasn't reached the level of nonsense that Square Enix did with their Kingdom Hearts spin-offs, making each one of them exclusive to a completely different console. At least, with Persona 5 if you own a PS4 you can play every P5 game.

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

Kochambra

"so you admit the claim that MS has anything to do with this is a baseless claim"
Where do you see such "admision"? M$ has everything to do with this decision. I don't know if they made this decision themselves of if some nervous exec at Bethesda/Zenimax made it. And frankly, I couldn't care less.
What I'm pretty sure is that whoever made this decision and whatever their reasoning was, the buyout of Bethesda by M$ conditioned it. Because that how these processes work.
Let me repeat my original words: "Assuming that the looming presence of M$ has no bearing on decisions such as this, seems to me kind of naive".

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

Kochambra

@Somebody "do they think people will spend $300+ on an xbox because it didnt have a physical copy on switch?"
It would be hard to guess what the exact reasoning behind this decision has been. I've just ventured two possible answers. Whatever their reasoning, will this decision improve the sales of the Switch version? Nope, it'll most probably hurt them. But with the impeding acquisition by M$, the sales of the Switch version of Doom Ethernal are probably pretty low in their list of priorities.
"The accurate blame is on Nintendo's overpriced underperforming cartridge. This is the reason most 3rd party games are ps3/360 era".
Nope. The main reason why there are so many ps3/360 era games being ported to Switch is quite simple: They're easier to port. Generally speaking, it's easier to port a game developed for a specific hardware to more powerful hardware (or to hardware in a similar power level) than porting it to less powerful hardware.
And that's also the reason why we're beginning to see some cloud games (not "plenty", but some) on Switch: Once you've got the streaming infrastructure up and running, it's much easier to "port" games that way than to do a proper port.

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

Kochambra

@Somebody "Why would MS or Bethesda want to lessen the experience on switch?"
To reinforce the message that these games are better on M$ Game Pass? Or they're just cutting costs, and they'd rather do it on a version of the game for a non-M$ ecosystem? Just two possible reasons why a nervous exec could make this decision.

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

Kochambra

@Razer "Because you say it's foolish not to think this"
Nope, I never said that.
First off, I didn't use the word "foolish" but the word "naive". The word "foolish" implies a lack of intelligence, and I have no doubt that I'm having this conversation with intelligent people.
My words were: "Assuming that the looming presence of M$ has no bearing on decisions such as this, seems to me kind of naive".
And I stand by those words. Have you ever been involved in a company buyout? From the very moment it is announced, every decision that anyone makes in the company being bought, is conditioned by that impending change of ownership. From the bottom tiers to the very top, employees are worried sick about the incoming changes, wondering about their future, desperate to seem indispensable, desperate for their division to look profitable.
Did this decision come from some M$ corporate mandate or from some anxious Bethesda executive? I don't know and I don't really care. But I have little doubt that the ongoing buyout influenced whoever made the decision. So of course this has everything to do with M$.

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

Kochambra

@sanderev You're right: the acquisition of ZeniMax by M$ won't be FINALIZED until next year. But it's already an ongoing process, and as I said, assuming that the looming presence of M$ has no bearing on decisions such as this, seems to me kind of naive.
Sure, there have been some Bedestha releases on M$ Game Pass, but how many of them were a barely six month old blockbuster? None that I can remember.
Also, just out of curiosity: Has the approach of labeling a behavior as "immature and stupid" or "something for 4-year olds" ever worked for you? Because it sounds to me like something that would have the completely opposite effect.

@Razer See the beginning of this comment.

Re: Doom Eternal For Switch Will No Longer Receive A Physical Release

Kochambra

@sanderev It seems that you perfectly understood what megacorporation I was referring to, so either you're 4 years old (which I highly doubt) or M$ isn't "something for 4-year olds".
Also M$ owns Zenimax, Bethesda and id Software. So saying that M$ "has nothing to do" with this decision could seem a little... naive, maybe? I guess the announcement that Doom Eternal was being included in M$ Game Pass just three days after the acquisition was made public, was just another totally independent decision by the totally independent Bethesda with no M$ involvement whatsoever, right?

Re: The First Review For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Now In

Kochambra

@status-204 That's not how it works. As an example, Tri Force Heroes did not review well at all. And if we're talking about scarcity, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash was released when the Wii U was on its last legs and it was roasted by critics.
It's okay to not like a game, and other people liking the game doesn't make your opinion any less valid. So please, don't try to invalidate their opinion arguing that they just like it because it's Zelda or because scarcity or whatever other extraneous reason you come up with.

Re: The Outer Worlds On Switch Has Been Updated To Version 1.2

Kochambra

@Coach_A "But just thought I'd point out the inconsistencies with the reporting here."
There is no such thing. If the site was reporting on all or even most switch game updates, you may have a point. But that's not and has never been the case.
They have their own criteria to choose what game updates they report on. If they don't consider newsworthy that update you keep harping on about, that's their decision to make.
