Re: Feature: Taking A Deep Breath: Introducing The Voice Of Zelda, Patricia Summersett

@LUIGITORNADO That would have been preferable, but Nintendo didn't do that so guess we're now stuck with yet another North American doing a bad British accent.

If you're American / Canadian and don't hang out with Brits you probably can't tell the difference, but if you're British (like me) or an American who spends a lot of time with Brits (like my missus) it's very apparent and is as distracting audially as a stuttering framerate is visually.

Re: Nintendo Beats Profit Projections as Switch and Pokémon Sales Lift Company

Julien

@Amsterdamsters Why don't they share the sales numbers then?

The game has no soul and looks like it's been made by marketing people at Microsoft. The casual crowd didn't know the Wii U existed so why not use Miis, a la Wii Sports? Or Wario?

But interesting that it's still charting pretty well in Japan. Perhaps pretending to be that fat American bloke milking a cow is the latest cosplay sensation?

Re: Nintendo Beats Profit Projections as Switch and Pokémon Sales Lift Company

@Hotfusion Yep, as ultimately it's a glorified tech demo. I bought 1-2 Switch to experience HD Rumble, only to discover I'd need to play though a load of filler to unlock those two games. So gave up and went back to BotW.

Definitely my biggest dose of Videogame Buyers Remorse since paying full price for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Wii. (Avoided Wii Music and at least both Wii Play and FlingSmash came with "free" controllers.)

Re: Super Mario Run Version 2.1.0 Is Now Live

@Toadsfriend For hardcore gamers that frequent this site maybe, but not the casual crowd. I'm talking from a business perspective to maximise Nintendo's ROI (return on investment).

Be interested to know how many people that post in these comments also wear Gucci! (Closest I get to high-end fashion is a t-shirt from Nintendo World NY.)

@switchvogel

Note: An in-game purchase is required to get certain color Toads required to unlock all buildings.

Is the business model about to be changed?

IMO £9.99 is too high for the casual gamers and Nintendo would make more money if it cost £4.99 with micro-transactions.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)

Julien

@Bread-Not-Toast I predict Mario Kart will be rebranded Nintendo Kart and will embrace all Nintendo IPs, a la Super Smash Bros. MK8 DLC was just the beginning.

And Nintendo Kart will launch with an extensive Amiibo range, that are customisable like the game.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Puts Version 1.1.1 of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the Test

Julien

@NewAdvent I'm experiencing the same issues with moblins, especially when it's raining. At one point the game froze for so long (about 3 seconds) thought it had crashed.

Maybe this is why BotW doesn't have as many large creatures as Xenoblade Chronicles / Xenoblade Chronicles X, because it can't cope when factoring in both the physics engine and weather effects.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE You constantly tell us how much you love your Wii U and why you're not buying a Switch (yet) so I assumed. Then again, probably best not to ASSUME as makes an ASS out of U and ME.

Anyway, keep the comments coming. Reading your Nintendo Life posts is like watching an episode of Eastenders. Makes me feel more positive about my life.

PS - Thanks for editing your comment to not include the bit about me being dangerous if I had a brain. Very magnanimous of you.

Re: The Yooka-Laylee Rap Tries to be the Best and Worst Thing All at Once

Still looking forward to this game but wish Playtonic hadn't played the "Wii U isn't powerful enough" card when they were developing specifically for Wii U and using Team 17 to work on the PS4 and Xbone port.

Taking that into account, their explanation doesn't make much sense.

As for this JonTron bloke; I'm too old to care whether a YouTuber's voice is included or not, regardless of their personal views.

Re: Nintendo Switch With Dead Pixels? It's Not A Defect, Claims Nintendo

Julien

@Angelic_Lapras_King Exactly! The original DS to DS Lite upgrade is perhaps the best example of cosmetic improvements, whereas GBA to GBA SP offered significant hardware improvements.

I think the Switch looks beautiful already but seems like Nintendo cut a few corners on the components and design to keep the cost down.

Re: Nintendo Switch With Dead Pixels? It's Not A Defect, Claims Nintendo

Julien

@BenAV What was wrong with your Pro Controller? (So that I can double check mine.)

What with this, dead pixels, potential to scratch the screen when removing from dock, flimsy kickstand, inability to charge when using kickstand, possibility of attaching Joy Con straps incorrectly, left Joy Con sync issues...

It's as if Nintendo rushed the Switch to market without sufficient product testing to hit FY2017 and appease shareholders.

If only they'd spent as much time polishing the hardware as they did the software. (1-2 Switch does count here as it's a polished turd.)

Re: Review: 1-2-Switch (Switch)

Julien

@AlexOlney Agreed! Price should definitely be allowed to influence the review score. If this game was £19.99 rather than £39.99 (£34 on Amazon), I reckon it'd warrant a 7 (or even an 8 for showcasing HD Rumble).

On that note, how much could Breath of the Wild cost and still deserve a 10? £79.99? £99.99? More?
