HAL Laboratory may be best known for the Kirby series, but it's a studio more than capable of applying its sense of whimsy to new ideas. The BOXBOY! series has done just that, and the third entry - BYE-BYE BOXBOY! - is now right around the corner in PAL territories.

Out this week on the eShop (priced £4.49 / €4.99), the new entry has a whole lot of levels (more than 180, apparently) and some new ideas to freshen up the series. With unlock bonuses and amiibo support thrown in it should provide quite a lot of value, and Nintendo Australia has released an overview trailer to show that off. It's a nice summary of the info drop in early March, and does make it seem like a rather tempting download on 3DS.

@Spanjard yeah, there is going to be an uncomfortable year or so of that. Imagine is Pokémon Stars only releases on 3DS after all the speculation. Perfectly reasonable to expect it, but now that the idea is out there...

I enjoyed the first two games but they're more the type of thing that I'll just open for a quick go here and there when I'm not sure what to play rather than something I sit down and spend time on.
I rarely have my 3DS with me though now that I've moved on to the Switch so I don't think I'll be buying this one.

A simple but an awesome series, looking forward for it's final cut. Sad side is West seems not to be getting the cutest Qbby amiibo, though have to import it from Japan anyway.

I won't be buying any more games for my 3DS and Wii U. I hope they bring the three games together to switch as I think this art style would look stunning on it.

I have the first two, but now I've got Switch I just want everything on that. I've got well over 100 downloads on my 3DS, but it's time to move on!

Not sure if I'll be getting this one, still haven't even started the second one.

Boxboxboy series has been some of the best stuff on 3DS. So happy that HAL Laboratories made this. Shame we didn't get the amiibo though, have to hunt that down next time I'm in Japan.

A little gem that will be regarded as a classic puzzle game in years to come.

Also, get this entire series on the Switch's Virtual Console, Nintendo.

Get EVERYTHING from the past gaming systems, particularly all of Nintendo's past systems (including even the likes of Game & Watch, Virtual Boy, and arcade), on Switch's VC!
