Sorry to be picky, but is there any chance you could put long lists of games like these in alphabetical order?

It appears to have been partially done so would only take a few more minutes to complete, and would then be much easier to use.

I paid £15 for the game as a Kickstarter backer. Does that make it a higher score versus someone paying full eShop price? Should value be factored in to the score?

Unfortunately, with NL now having so many freelance reviewers, it must be difficult to maintain consistency with their scoring.

Perhaps NL could ask these freelancers to score other games they haven’t reviewed and put those on their bio so we readers have a yardstick if their gaming tastes?

I guess scores are a necessary evil for reviews to be included on aggregation sites and publicity via developers quoting the score.

It’s a shame we can’t have reviews like they had in Zzzap 64 where every game was reviewed across multiple metrics by three people and always the same three people. But I appreciate with the scope and length of games nowadays that’s not feasible.

Anyway that’s me done here for the day. Now time to continue Yooka Laylee to see if it really warrants that 8!

Maybe NL could switch to a percentage scoring system like Super Play et al did. That way they could spread out all the 8s and 9s that they give.

Similar to the tabloid reviews of the new Star Wars movie that seem to be written to secure soundbites in the movie’s marketing.

I very much doubt it will be anywhere near as good as The Empire Strikes Back, despite what some reviewers are implying.

But I’ve got tickets for this evening at BFI IMAX so I’ll soon be able to judge for myself.

I’m enjoying it so far but still on the first world. From what I’ve read about the later worlds, this game doesn’t warrant an 8, especially at £40.

I’m becoming increasingly concerned that NL is awarding higher scores than a game deserves to ensure it gets a namecheck in the game’s marketing.

Hopefully I’ll be proved wrong for both this game (7?) and XC2 (8?).

Where are the 3DS eShop games? 3DS retail games appearing twice.

@HalloHerrNoob @the8thark Hmm. I'm only 4 hours in but think XC1 is better. Feels like they've cut a few corners with XC2 to be able to release it in 2017, resulting in a clunkier UI (unhelpful map, lack of tutorials list, less clothing options, easier to get lost, etc).

For XCX didn't like the lack of plot and found some of the music very annoying. Then again, I don't understand what all the fuss is about with Minecraft. (I blame middle age!)

@Fight_Teza_Fight XC2 was £29.99 at Argos in the UK on Friday, but guess NintendoLife were too busy with their Amazon affiliate links to report it. (I bought my copy from their Islington, London branch.)

I've just posted my £39.99 Amazon prime copy back to Amazon so at least one person will soon be able to buy it for £41.99 direct from Amazon rather than £48.XX via one of their third party scalpers.

I'll miss the 3D but happy to (partially) double dip at that early bird price.

I've received a couple of emails offering me discounted tickets for most of the North American shows (25% off during their Black Friday sale) so don't think they're selling as well as Paul would like us (or Nintendo) to believe.

When I purchased my £50 "cheap seat" tickets for the London show in mid-August most of the seats in the two highest priced tiers still hadn't been sold. I didn't receive anything about reduced London tickets at a later date, but then I'd guess there'd be software in place to prevent such an offer being sent to an email that had already bought a full price ticket.

I don't think the Mario music would have the same emotional impact on me as Zelda (except maybe Galaxy) but I'd be up for going if the cost of admission was more reasonable.

@LittleLion I’m annoyed at the way Playtonic took advantage of Nintendo fans to fund their Kickstarter.

They SHOULD have developed the game for the Wii U (which I’d bet the majority of the game funding was for) and THEN ported to PS4 and XBone, NOT the other way around (or simultaneously).

Or admitted they didn’t want to release the game for a failing console and made it a lot easier for Wii U owners to obtain refunds.

WHEN they do end up releasing a physical Switch version I’ll wait until it’s £5 secondhand in CEX.

Playtonic have employed a flak to do their PR so I don’t take any of his spin seriously. Just hope the hats comment wasn’t a (Steamworld) dig at Image & Form, who I believe will be / are the new Rare(ware).

@LittleLion It's my opinion, not a right. I'd at least have liked the option to upgrade to the inevitable physical release, even if it did cost a little more as prefer physical to digital. Not a space issue. Wouldn't mind waiting. What's an extra few months at this stage?

What I don't like, as was inferred in the advertorial, is that Playtonic will release a physical version with extra content and expect us hardcore Nintendo fans to double dip.

You’d think Playtonic could manage a physical copy considering the small file size, lengthy delay and as a goodwill gesture to the Wii U backers. But guess that, by staggering the physical release, they expect us to double dip. (I bet a Switch cart will happen in the first half of 2018.)

I won’t be backing any more of their kickstarters and the fact that their next game is free-to-play, perhaps Playtonic knows it’s not just this Nintendo fan left with a sour tasting mouth from how they milked Rare nostalgia.

@Indielink Definitely some audio-video synching issues last night. At one point we were listening to Zelda’s Lullaby whilst Link battled Ganondorf!

I attended the London performance last night. Although thoroughly enjoyable, I thought the last song was not a good choice of finale and somewhat of an anti-climax. Not playing the main Legend of Zelda theme whilst the credits rolled on screen was a missed opportunity.

However, I much preferred the respect the London audience showed by remaining silent when the orchestra was performing, as opposed to the attention-seeking whooping and hollering at the New York performance in 2012.

ALL the other games on the SNES Mini that have yet to reach 1 million but have already sold some copies will beat it to the punch.

As someone who backed the Wii U version I feel cheated, especially as it was Nintendo fans that predominantly backed this, there’s no physical Switch version and nothing offered (such as a Steam download) to compensate for the lengthy delay.

It better be the best version when released, with significant improvements made to the heavily criticised casino level.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Playtonic announce a 2018 release date at this point so they don’t have to compete against Mario and become a distant second-best platformer choice.

Went to TGS last year when I was living in Hong Kong. Had great fun, especially scaring the missus as she was shark diving on PSVR.

Now on the way to EGX (as since moved to London). Missus is very excited to play Super Mario Odyssey as she didn’t get the chance when we were in New York during E3.

Very tired today as stayed up far too late playing Steamworld Dig 2. (First World Problem.)

I think NL should commission Sligsy to write opinion pieces, as I do find his predominantly negative outlook and perpetual one man crusade to resuscitate the Wii U rather amusing. Maybe also get @Anti-Matter on board for the positivity?

The Wii U did have some great games, but looked like a Fisher Price toy, was named and marketed very poorly, and if the gamepad was more than a few feet from the console would display a connection error. The asynchronous gameplay was an interesting concept but, like a lot of Nintendo's ideas or peripherals, wasn't fully exploited.

Meanwhile Switch is doing gangbusters, which helps both Nintendo and the gaming industry as a whole. We should all be thankful of that.

Anyway, back to EA. Not a big fan, but again, if their games increase Switch sales then that's fine by me.
