Re: Get A Closer Look At Super Mario 3D All-Stars In This Nintendo Unboxing Video

@tobsesta99 The criticisms "jump" and I made were just nitpicks. We're not boycotting this game for things this trivial. A lot of people complain about BOTW's weapon system and they love the game anyway because it's still insanely impressive.

I was just my expressing my minor disappointment that manuals are still M.I.A. on Nintendo Switch when a game like Sonic Mania Plus didn't have a limited run and it came with an art-book. Also, considering this is an unboxing video, some of us expected that there would be something cool inside.

In the end, I'm still excited that this even exists as I had wrote this off as a rumor quite some time ago.

@Snatcher It's a little weird how Switch has been really successful for Nintendo despite that the system is underpowered, online service is below average, digitial store layout is a joke, and now game manuals, a staple of game collections, have been practically discarded.

Nintendo has made a lot of rather regressive decisions with Switch but I guess streamlining their console in most aspects imaginable seems to be their objective. It seems to be working for them in the end but I hope Nintendo is open to adjusting their simplicity approach in the future.

Re: Take To The Streets Later This Month In Gunman Clive Creator's New Beat 'Em Up

John_Koshiro

@BulbasaurusRex To be honest, I found the first Gunman Clive to be a tad too basic in some areas.

Even though it was intended to be a simple platforming action game reminiscent of Game Boy titles, the gameplay and levels were too simple to make the adventure, as a whole, very compelling. It had to be enjoyed in bite sized sessions. The boss battles, which were creative and fun, were the main incentive I had to finish it.

Gunman Clive 2, mechanically speaking, is about the same but the game had outstanding level design to make up for it. The creativity in those levels had fresh ideas with a natural sense of progression. I think that game managed to keep things simple while being grand at the same time.

I guess it's just my preference. I still like both of the G.C. games though, and I'll probably pick this up if the reception is positive.

@Kalmaro In Mario Kart, I was playing Luigi against my brother and I got a Bullet Bill from an item box. It would had gotten me out of 10th place during the first lap but my brother summoned a Gloo and the stupid ghost took my Bullet Bill away.

Somehow, I managed to turn the tables around by the final lap and I was nearing the finish line in 1st place but it ended with me getting 6th place because my freaking brother got a Glue Turtle Shell at the last second and it glue up the entire area around me.

Re: Has The Chibi-Robo Studio Skip Pulled The Plug On Development?

John_Koshiro

My profile picture gives it away but I'm a pretty big fan of these games.

I cannot understand why they strayed away from the gameplay of the Gamecube original. The only time they tried to follow-up on it was for that Japanese exclusive DS game.

The 3DS spin-offs were not what people wanted and the reception effectively killed the franchise. A fact epitomized by the Chibi-Robo spirit in Ultimate.

Re: Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 Speeds Onto Nintendo Switch This October

John_Koshiro

@FTL Dude, did you read that other comment I left?

I'm in support of a show like R&S to be praised because they were other talented people who brought it to life.

My point was that this game highlights how Nickelodeon has consistently been making poor business decisions and is continuing to do so. Hiring a shameless sex offender was one of them, however it hasn't invalidate all the work done by people like Bob Camp.

Re: Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 Speeds Onto Nintendo Switch This October

John_Koshiro

@PBandSmelly If you makes you feel any better, Bob Camp was arguably just as big of a creative force on the show as John K.

Sure John K. created the concept and did a great deal of the writing at first but Camp had to rein him in when he went too off the wall, even for a R&S episode.

Honestly, it's thanks to Camp that R&S went on as long as it did since he took over the show after the 2nd season.

A follow up to an below average game with half of the roster featuring characters from series that have gone down hill, had their legacy tainted by revelations about the creator, or were never good to begin with.

It's sad that Nickelodeon is in this state. I'm still mad that they didn't make the Avatar comic adaptation but at least we got Korra out of that.

Re: Review: Alien: Isolation - One Of The Greatest Horror Games Of All Time Comes To Switch

John_Koshiro

@suikoden Nah, it just immediately came to mind once I saw NL call it a horror masterpiece in the headline.

It stayed with me because it was the first review for the game I read, and after the disaster that was Colonial Marines, I kinda believed it until I got around to other reviews.

@SockJones I actually wasn't aware that reviewer is a black sheep amongst the IGN staff. He certainly didn't make it alleviate his status by posting that review.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Plans To Revive A "Dead And Buried" Game

John_Koshiro

@Yosher It got cancelled over mindless Wii Remote swinging gameplay that the console was plagued with, misuse of funds, lack of creative direction and failed attempts to restart it, and apparent racism by the senior Japanese staff arguing with the American employees on how they couldn't make the game the right way because they weren't Japanese.

Re: Video: The Pokémon Detective Pikachu Movie Just Got A Brand New Trailer

John_Koshiro

@Gravitron Well, at first the live action designs were intriguing to me but with each trailer, its appeal kept winding down for me to the point where I find them ugly. I'm also not a fan of Reynolds' acting and with that last trailer, I got the sensation that this is going to be the sort of watered down R-rated gag comedies that so many children's movies are today.
