Will the opening sequence have Japanese lyrics or be instrumental? Never understood why they change them. Original is always better.

I miss the Atelier Iris era from PS2. Those games were genuinely fun. I never really got the same feeling from these games from the PS3 generation. Although I haven’t played any of the latest entries, the early PS3 titles were quite disappointing. I would love an HD remaster of Atelier Iris or Mana Khemia though.

About once every 3 months. And I usually only buy a game when it’s on sale. Full price is too expensive.

It seems like a steal for $40 only. However, not sure if it’s worth the hype. I’ll have to give the Demo a try.

But will the switch 2 version be superior to the switch version? Graphically, performance, etc. If so, definitely going for the switch 2 version, digitally.

I had so much fun with this game back in the day. It’s everything good about old school final fantasy games, but somehow better. The summons were epic, the djinn customization class options were numerous, the craftable weapons were some of the best, and the soundtrack was legendary. Why doesn’t Nintendo give this series the revival that it desperately deserves?

30fps is plenty if it can hit that consistently. Even Cinema run at 24fps. There’s really no reason for more frames.

My most anticipated game is Elden Ring Tarnished Edition so I’d like more details about that including a release date. Also, it would be nice to get some surprise announcements.

Star Ocean, Visions of Mana, Tales of Arise. We need more Jrpgs.

Unpopular opinion, I want a Zesteria remaster. A chance to perfect all of the shortcomings. I think the game has huge potential.

Square Enix was there so I had my hopes up for FFIX remake or Visions of Mana port. Instead, we get more HD-2D games. I kind of half expected this would happen. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Octopath but right now there’s an abundance of these HD-2D games so I don’t think that should be a priority at the moment. A bit underwhelming as others have mentioned.

I really do hope we get some kind of remake or remaster of ff9. The original is on the eshop but I can only dream of how gorgeous a remaster would look. I just hope that they give it the detailed artistic look of the original and not opt for something like full 3d open world or less detailed environments.

Do I want it? Yes.

Am I able to get my hands on one in the foreseeable future? Probably not.

Especially in Japan, the multilingual language version is only available through the my Nintendo store and reservations are still only available through the lottery system. Without a switch online subscription, do not qualify to enter the lottery even. Right now it’s round 4 of the lottery with many hopeful people constantly getting disappointed by not getting selected in each round. Maybe in a few months things will get better.

Awesome list. Next, can we get a side by side comparison of the switch 2 and switch OLED model? I want to see exactly how different the screen looks and how it compares to its predecessor.

From a Japan perspective, everyone I have talked to has now failed in the second round of the lottery. It appears that demand far exceeds the supply. Nothing to do but wait until supply rises to the demand.

Most excited for Professor Layton, Ys X Proud Nordics, and No Sleep for Kaname Date: Ai Somnium Files. Can we get more jrpgs and srpgs please?

Is there any chance this is more similar to the Zero Escape series and AI Somnium Files rather than Danganronpa? Did those games have a different director? I’d love to see something more in that direction personally.

Well I won’t be able to buy the switch 2 for some time after launch so I’m enjoying my switch 1 for now. Playing Fire Emblem Engage which looks gorgeous on the OLED model. Now other games I have felt look graphically poor on the switch so I am looking forward to the power boost in the switch 2.

For many, there is no choice but to wait until later down the line to get the switch 2, regardless of how much we want it or not. The excitement is lessened by frustration. But still looking forward to grabbing one eventually down the line once it’s more readily available.

One concern. After the update, all of my games suddenly became unplayable until I “load on this system” the virtual game cards one by one. However, when I first tried to load the virtual game card, it asked me to bring “another” switch console within close proximity in order to link the systems. This was not an issue for me since I physically own the other console. However, it makes me wonder if I sold my other console, would I not be able to download my virtual game cards since I could not bring another console within close proximity in order to link them? Is there another method to download your games if you prematurely sold your prior console? Why do I need to link an old system in the first place if I purchased most of my games on the new console to begin with?

It’s hard to pick but here goes:

Zelda
Xenoblade (or new Xeno franchise)
Golden Sun
Animal crossing

Brand new entries in each of these series would be absolute bangers on the switch 2.

I’ll get the switch 2 version for the better graphics. I think I’ll buy it from the eshop as a digital game when it goes on sale.

@MegaVel91 referring to people living in Japan. If you live in the US or elsewhere, it’s not an issue.

I attempted the lottery but apparently did not meet the requirements. What’s worse, Japan has two tiers of Switch 2, a Japanese-language only model and a multi-language model and only the Japanese language version will be available in retail stores across Japan. This means that for English speakers, the Multi Language model is only available from the Japanese My Nintendo website. Also, the price of the multi language version when converting yen to US dollars is actually more expensive than the $450 dollar price tag in the US. (About $494) Don’t get me wrong, I’ll probably still buy one eventually. But it sure hasn’t been made easy to do so.

Are these games any good? The only Lunar game I’ve played was Dragon Song. While it was frustrating at times, the OST was absolutely wonderful. I overall enjoyed that game.

I would love to get a microSD express card with a lot of extra storage space if not for the high cost of SD cards. Even for the original switch, I was only able to get one with a very small amount of storage (64 gb I think) because the price is too high for the high storage ones.

I have no complaints. The original switch was in essence a culmination and combination of everything that came before. Essentially everything that Nintendo had always been striving for, perfected if not a little underpowered. Rather than making something completely different that abandons everything achieved so far over the decades, it makes sense to continue the switch form and make it more powerful. The next generation after switch 2 may have to evolve into something different depending on what kind of new technology becomes readily available in 5 years or so. This has yet to be seen.

It’s unfortunate that due to scalpers, it’s been made difficult for the rest of us (real people) to get our hands on one of these beauties at launch. The strict requirements from Nintendo for placing a pre-order are understandable, but make it impossible to get one immediately. (At least in some countries) I may have to wait until a few months after launch to get my hands on one assuming stock is available.

I’m more excited about post-launch games rather than launch games personally. I’m looking forward to Y’s X Proud Nordics and No Sleep for Kaname Date: AI Somnium Files the most. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed that Square Enix will bring over a port of Visions of Mana to the switch 2. It’ll be interesting to see what other games will be announced in the near future. The eventual new Zelda title, new animal crossing, FF IX remake, new Golden Sun, Zero Escape trilogy, professor Layton collection, etc. would make the switch 2 so much more exciting. And how about a brand new Xeno series from monolith soft to spiritually succeed xenoblade for the new generation?

I only play the switch in handheld mode and I quit playing xenoblade 3 and Persona 5 because they both looked awful and foggy. I really hope games look better on the new more powerful switch 2 screen.

Personally, the launch titles felt a bit lacking to me for a next generation console. I could imagine those games in some form on the switch 1. More importantly, there was a lack of JRpgs in the showcase which was a disappointment. This falls more on third party developers but still.

Let’s not forget AI the Somnium Files 3. Hyped!

Nobody’s asking for it but how about a new Golden Sun? Whether a remake of 1&2 or a brand new game. I think it would be beyond awesome.
