The onslaught of quality indie games coming to the Switch eShop continues with Castle of Heart from Polish studio 7LEVELS. This action platformer will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive and launches early this year.
In the game you play as a knight who is turned into stone. You have to keep moving and fighting your enemies to avoid getting disintegrated. In the game you will find your own combat style with loads of short and long-range weapons and make good use of clever power-ups to gain an advantage over your opponents. And, most importantly, prove that under that skin of stone beats the heart of a true hero!
This all sounds pretty great to us - we don't know about you, but we're getting a Dark Souls vibe from those visuals. Check out the recently released trailer above and let us know if you plan to pick this up when it arrives on the Switch eShop later this year with a comment below

I'll be keeping an eye on this one!
Dark souls? More like Trine.
This is their Press Release.
"Warm up your thumbs, gamers, an exciting action platformer from 7levels studio will soon become available on the Switch! Castle of Heart will launch exclusively on Nintendo’s platform in Q1 2018!
Become a knight turned into stone. Keep moving and fighting your enemies to avoid getting disintegrated. Find your own combat style with loads of short- and long-range weapons and make good use of clever power-ups to gain an advantage over your opponents. And, most importantly, prove that under that skin of stone beats the heart of a true hero!
Castle of Heart is a classic action platformer at the genre’s best and most challenging, with plentiful of new twists on the formula to experience. Players take control of a cursed knight who has been turned to stone by an evil sorcerer’s spell, but who is ready to prove that love and courage can conquer even the darkest magic.
Your brave hero must travel all the way from their petrified village to the dark ruler’s castle, mastering 20 levels set in 4 distinct environments. Each is full of enemies that require different strategies to be beaten successfully and includes sudden gameplay changes. All this translates into exciting, dynamic action sequences. The selection of progressively more powerful weapons, from the humble sword to a powerful magical arsenal, as well as power-ups, will aid your hero in their quest. But remember: a body of stone has its limits! It disintegrates permanently as the knight loses energy, which can only be supplied by defeating enemies. If you let it reach a critical level, your hero may lose an arm and the ability to wield weapons with it.
Castle of Heart offers beautiful and detailed 3D graphics with changing landscapes, weather conditions, and rich backgrounds. The game’s aesthetics and bestiary are equal parts inspired by Slavic mythology (with some locations straight from famous, mystical locations in Poland, the developers’ home country) and the dark fantasy atmosphere of the best action platformer titles from the golden age of the genre. All of this makes Castle of Heart a perfect mix of classic influences and modern approaches, utilizing the spectrum of the Switch’s features, which will enchant both fans of the genre and newcomers.
CASTLE OF HEART MAIN FEATURES
> A unique main character: a knight turned into stone who needs to keep fighting to avoid disintegrating
> 20 completely different levels in 4 beautiful environments loosely inspired by real-life locations
> Roughly 50 types of both short- and long-range weapons, allowing each gamer to find their own, individual combat style
> HD Rumble support, further increasing players’ immersion
> At least 7 hours of addictive, exciting gameplay
> Epic boss fights at the end of every location
> Breathtaking graphic design
> Numerous power-ups that enrich the gameplay
Castle of Heart will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in Q1 2018.
More information about the game can be found on the official website (www.7lvls.com) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/7lvls/)."
I'm interested.
If it gets good reviews I’ll definitely buy this
A shorter trailer would have been welcome, I guess?
If this preview video were any shorter, it would be a still image. lol
How can anyone judge this based on less than 15 seconds of footage?
I thought this was like 2d robocop with a sword
@Heavyarms55 @SuperCharlie78 lol
Looks good, all depends on controls. Gameplay looks neat.
Wtf did I just watch....like fr? 😂 It looked promising but it looked like it was fast forwarded to fit into that like 5 sec clip.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Interesting that they use the terminology 'Launch exclusively...' - the kind of language usually used to mask a timed exclusivity deal.
Remember: "Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch in holiday 2015, exclusively on Xbox."?
It sounded good until I saw the video. The animations look extremely stiff, almost like early pre-rendered 3D, Donkey Kong Country style? Maybe the teaser is just badly constructed, but I'm getting the sense this is really cheap.
@hiptanaka controls looked off, or frame rate. I want to see more. Could be a great start? Fingers crossed
...and already it's listed on Nintendo of Europe's website... https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Castle-of-Heart-1332872.html
well i dont think this game is something of what we all should be thrilled
Interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this just on the off chance it is good
Ahem..I hope the games not rock hard...
......tumbleweed........
looks interesting.
I hope the Switch doesn't oversaturate on 2D side-scrollers at this rate...
@Porkins Yep, I hope I'm wrong. I like a good arcadey action game.
Looks like what Bloodstained No. 9 should be. Will follow for sure.
@Nincompoop exactly my thoughts. Either way this has peak my interest. Hope it turns out good.
This looks pretty good actually
My thumbs are ready!
Looks pretty cool!
Looks interesting. Will keep an eye (lol) on it.
Looks promising enough! I’ll keep my eye out for it’s release.
I'm sold.
Dark Castle of Soul Hearts! I'm IN!!! Looks pretty fun!!
If Dark Souls was 2D, this game would be it. I don't know how to feel about that yet.
I longed for a 2D game! This is a rejuvenation!
They could have called it Dark Souls DS (just much higher fidelity)
Will look out for reviews for sure
Mechanics seem a bit floaty, but I'll wait for more info before I judge.
Noice!
Looks good. Is there any news on a price for it?
@JaguarWong That was then. And, just like Bayonetta 3, Castle of Heart is a Switch exclusive.
@NinChocolate Except the fact that you can play CoH both at home and on the go... no Dual Screen whatsoever. I think you should call it "Dark Souls Pocket Edition" (end of joke).
@Aven No data on the price just yet. They will announce it later during the first quarter of 2018.
The best 15 seconds ever. The game was like you wanted to play me, here's what you'll get.
Looking good!
@Leu10antFalcon
I bet you a tenner it's on other platforms within 6 months of the Switch launch
The problem with announcing Indie games like their full AAA games and bragging about exclusivity makes one look petty and gives an impression of grasping at straws.
Nintendo need to fork out some money for 3rd party exclusives this year or announce some decent games (Yoshi and a port of DK or Dark souls wont cut it) otherwise there will be plenty of Switches sitting on store shelves in 2018.
Last i checked the GameCube was a flop too (sales wise not quality).
Not too sure about this one. In just those 15 seconds I saw slow animations which usually leads to loose controls. Getting a big Dracula X Chronicles vibe, and that isn't good.
@GraveLordXD Never tried salt and sanctuary. The gameplay of Castle of Heart looks nothing like Dark Souls, but it’s clear their art style was inspired by From Software’s franchise. And by inspired I mean that knight and the font look like they were ripped straight out of Dark Souls.
looks like ghosts and goblins or a old castlevania.
This looks really cool! I love games with medieval art styles! Hence why I love Dark Souls so much.
@Hikingguy A Ghouls 'n' Ghosts side scrolling reboot would be fantastic!
@JaguarWong Do you have the source?
