Shantae: Half-Genie Hero was a remarkable game on release, though it did feel like it was a bit on the short side. Fortunately, WayForward addressed this with some plans to expand the game in new and interesting ways. A few months ago, the game received a DLC campaign starring Risky Boots, Shantae’s nemesis. Featuring remixed stages and a new play style, it was quite the swashbuckling adventure, but WayForward isn’t stopping there.
The developer will be adding a second expansion soon called Friends to the End, featuring Bolo, Rotty, and Sky, and it certainly looks to be adding an interesting twist to things. Though the stages are the same, the hot-swapping mechanic and level-up system are fascinating additions, and will no doubt make for a great expansion. Check out the new trailer below:

Looks like it's worth the wait.
I loved the first expansion I'm excited to try this too. This game was just really well done overall.
Didn't like this at all compared to the 3DS one. Are the expansions any different from the base game in any meaningful way?
Nice that the guys at Wayforward are just about finished with this game. It seems like it was yesterday when the Kickstarter campaign was going on and it was being overshadowed by Mighty No.9. I wonder what would be next for the Shantae series.
@PipeGuy64Bit I wouldn't mind seeing a fully-3D attempt from them. I think that Wayforward are one of the few companies out there that could fully-3D without any compromises. They know how to craft excellently beautiful games that are also simplistic. A very fine combination
The Shantae games have very nice gameplay as I watched some videos but unfortunately I can't play them because of the "cringe" animations.
The characters are not likable one bit (by me personally).
However great news for the fans!
Previous DLC was kinda pricey. I wonder how much second will cost.
The original one was good but short and I pass on the doc because was pricey. I will wait for a sale
WayForward are a favourite indie dev of mine. Looking forward to this expansion and also whatever they choose to do next.
Are there any rumors on a physical release?
@Biff_ARMStrong it is DLC, I don't know any DLC that are physical. The original game has a physical in the US but not in any other country that I know of...
@essiw No I meant a physical copy on the Switch of the original game
@essiw physical downloadable content. Ther must be a market for that...
wii u support? props 2 wayforward!
@Biff_ARMStrong
There will be a physical Switch version that comes with all the DLC next year.

Waiting for Physical Release, that black friday sale was tempting though
@RadioShadow Thanks!
Never even finished the base game yet due to college stuffs, so it definitely seems that once I finally get to this game, I'll have a lot to enjoy!
Awesome, guess I'll be buying this on Switch since my backer reward only applies to the WiiU copy I abandoned once I got it on Switch.
I usually do not care that much about DLC as it is usually only new characters and BS like that... but the gameplay seems to be different and there will be new abilities with the different characters. I will possibly try it, but not for a few months as I completed the previous DLC not too long ago. Just wondering why they prefer to work on DLC's instead of a new game?
@FrankoAmmo Because the DLC was a stretch goal that was reached during the game's Kickstater campaign.
I bought that Risky DLC on PS4, I haven’t beaten that yet. So I need to get on that.
I was a bit disappointed by the Risky Boots expansion (although the between-levels hub scene was quite nice) because it was so short--I was able to 100% it in a little over 2 hours. This looks like it might be a bit more worth the time, as long as it's not too expensive.
Oh thanks for the info.! I did not know. It makes sense @PipeGuy64Bit
@Dezzy The levels are the same, but the gameplay is completely different in these expansions.
