Fable 3. Definitely interested in a new game in the series. Disciples Liberation. A bit like a low budget version of Baldur's Gate 3. Took a while to click though. Desperate for the physical Switch release of Balatro.
Christmas Presents. Super Mario Wonder and Trinity Trigger. Both seem pretty good. Got the Taito edition of the Super Pocket. Loving the original arcade versions of Bubble Bobble and New Zealand Story. Also getting into Tales of Arise after a slow start.
Dead Island 2. Silly zombie fun. Ministry of Broadcast on Switch. A weird game with some great puzzles. The constant 'red haired' comments are relevant and funny to me.
Wo Long and Atomic Heart. The gaming year has started pretty well. Also picked up Chronos: Before the Ashes cheaply on Switch without seeing any reviews. A bit rough but seems quite good so far.
Just started Grid Legends. A stunning racing game. A few hours into Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Even though it seems worse than the first game in every way it is still a good game.
I wonder if they used assets from the PS3 version? It might look worse because of the darkness and muted colours. In Digital Foundry's PS3 vs PS4 faceoff it does look a bit closer than this Switch footage.
How can the Switch get a downgrade from the PS3 version? This has never happened with a port of this age before, has it? The resolution has got to be higher.
Dolmen. Another Dark Souls clone but in an icky sci-fi environment. The creatures could be from Dead Space. Also, got Chocobo GP on the cheap and it is better than expected.
Quite liked this on PS4. It can look stunning one minute and awful the next. It is fun to craft the weapons and armour but the repetition will bore you before completion. Also, an open world game using UE4 on Switch will probably be a bit blurry.
Sniper Elite 5 on PS4. Massive visual upgrade and refined gameplay make it the best yet. Slay the Spire on Switch. Finally completed with first character and moved on to the next. Seems even harder because of the lack of HP regeneration between battles.
@moodycat The save points have a flow of light emitting from the top that point you in the general direction. I am just exploring at the minute. If you need some practise there is a dungeon in the far corner at the start where you can get some items. There are imps hiding on the walls like Spiderman and an impossible boss who jumps high in the air and lands on your head. Good Luck.
Only Elden Ring. I can't see another game beating this to GOTY. It has genuinely been a great year for gaming already. Actually I might also try to progress on Slay the Spire, which is one of the most addictive games I have played on Switch.
I don't think compression is the reason. It's the cartoony textures and limited FMV and speech. In some games the characters never stop talking. With multiple language options it is no surprise that near 100GB is becoming quite common.
Upscaling is nothing new. Checkerboard rendering on PS4 Pro can look stunning on a 4K TV. I don't know how this compares. DLSS is definitely the way forward and will probably be part of the next Switch.
Dying Light 2. Big improvement on the first game with a very detailed open world and lots to do. Love the new loot system for equipment. Do not think I will be playing it for 500 hours though.
If Nintendo were to buy Capcom you would all jump over the moon. Exclusive Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter makes so much more sense than Bungie anyway. I do not know the value of Capcom but this would guarantee my console loyalty for life.
Roguelikes. Hades and Slay the Spire are very different games but equally addictive. Dead Cells was also good. Any more suggestions on Switch or PS4? Scarlet Nexus is getting repetitive after 10 hours. Hurry up Elden Ring!
First thing they will do is remove or simplify the grass and foliage. Small loss. But if the decent lighting does not remain it will look much worse. Resolution and framerate could be low as well.
Guardians of the Galaxy on PS4. Brilliant fun and stunning looking. Test Drive Unlimited 2 on Xbox 360. I'd love a new game in this series because I will not get to play the amazing looking new Forza. Continuing with Guacamelee, starting to get hard.
Just starting Blasphemous. Switch is perfect for this sort of game. Ori and Dread are on my shopping list, but are there any other 2D metroidvania's I should be looking out for on switch? Finally got to the factory in RE Village so nearly finished but Far Cry 6 is so addictive so might go back to that.
Mostly Far Cry 6. Stunning and ridiculous fun. Also, could not resist Guacamelee double pack on special offer. Been wanting to play this for years and seems great so far. Dread can wait for a few weeks.
The Surge 2. Rock hard Sci-Fi Dark Souls style game. Also getting into Octopath Traveler. Looks amazing but already seems a bit of a grind. I will continue though.
Just killed Lady Dimitrescu in RE8 and looking forward to see what comes next. Loving Shantae Half Genie Hero on Switch. Really miss this sort of game. I am hanging on to Pirates Curse on 3DS because the value is creeping up.
Scarlet Nexus. A bit like a cross between Astral Chain and Code Vein. Trying to complete Final Fantasy 12 but it has become a repeat cycle of very hard boss / grind to beat boss. I think I might be ready to trade in.
Got Vanquish for £1.50. Amazing shooter considering its age. Trying to complete FFXII on Switch. Very hard and frustrating at times. Excited for RE: Village.
First shop purchased games since lockdown eased. Hades - after an indifferent start the addiction kicks in pretty quickly. Remnant From The Ashes - an underrated and unknown Dark Souls style game with great visuals and atmosphere. Rock hard but your character upgrades fast.
Dirt 5. Don't think it even got into the charts but probably the best racing game of the year. Amazing new Dizzy game on the ZX Spectrum. Takes me back to being a teenage gamer many years ago. Definitely waiting for the PS5 version of Cyberpunk.
Totally agree about Paper Mario. Everything about the game is great except the combat which becomes boring quickly. A JRPG would normally have EXP or loot as a reward and just having coins is not the same. Continuing with epic TLOU2. Be very surprised if any future release beats it to GOTY.
Mafia PS4 remake. That's how you remaster an old game. Hopefully means a next gen Mafia 4 is coming. Cannot wait for the Ori physical double pack to arrive on Switch.
Looks quite good for a Switch game. If a simplified version of the engine can run on Switch then surely simplified ports of the games mentioned are possible. Not RE8 though, but I'm getting a PS5 for that.
Trying to complete RE3 remake. Not as well received as RE2 but am liking it almost as much. Got to try Astral Chain again after not being impressed when purchased. Probably should not have played DMC5 first.
Greedfall. A cross between The Witcher and Assassins Creed but with a low budget and low tech visuals. Pretty good though. Fuse on Xbox 360. Never even heard of this Insomniac game until I saw it in CEX for £1. Polished Gears of War clone with some nice graphics.
Went to buy Project Cars 3. Was told they are out of stock as they only got 2 copies. Got Paper Mario instead. Seems great so far with nice visuals but a bit simple. If anyone wants a break from gaming the new issue of Retro Gamer (211) has a massive feature on the technical aspects of the SNES. Fascinating if you like that sort of thing.
Finally got Bloodstained on PS4. Actually got the Switch version for Christmas but could not get past the title screen without going online, so got a refund. No similar requirement on PS4 and game is very addictive. Must be getting near the end of Doom Eternal as it is getting very hard. The designer who thought a FPS would be good with platforming combining a double jump and double dash is mad. Just got to the Great Wall of China in Titan Quest on Switch. Great game.

Nier Replicant. Not as good as the sequel but a big improvement over the PS3 original.

Silent Hope on Switch. A cartoony take on Diablo with lots of loot and big headed characters. Also continuing the amazing Horizon Forbidden West.

Lies of P - finally a decent Bloodborne clone.
The Ascent - Diablo with guns and stunning looking.
Re: Red Dead Redemption Fans Aren't Happy About Rockstar's "Lazy Port"
1080p and 60fps would still be worthwhile. But I was expecting them to use the RDR2 engine and make a must buy.
