Re: Earth Atlantis Is Getting A Physical Edition In North America

Woof.

In my opinion, this game does not merit this price. The art style is interesting but gives everything a feeling of "sameness" after about 10 minutes. The gameplay is shallow and can be an unrewarding grindfest especially with some of the earlier boss fights you'll stumble across. The music is pretty bad in places, conflicts with the theme of the game at times, and there's not much of it.

I watched this one closely when it came out as there was a physical release on PS4. I'm glad I went with one of its many digital sales under $5 instead.

You know they say all men are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Samoa Joe and you can see that statement is NOT TRUE! See, normally if you go one-on-one with another wrestler you've got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I'm a genetic freak, and I'm not normal! So you've got a 25% chance at best at beating me! And then you add Kurt Angle to the mix? Your chances of winning drastically go down. See, the 3-Way at Sacrifice, you got a 33 and 1/3rd chance of winning. But I! I got a 66 and 2/3rds chance of winning, because Kurt Angle KNOWS he can't beat me, and he's not even gonna try. So, Samoa Joe, you take your 33 and 1/3rd chance minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 and 1/3rd chance of winning at Sacrifice. But then you take my 75% chance of winning (if we was to go one on one), and then add 66 and 2/3rd percent, I got a 141 and 2/3rd chance of winning at Sacrifice! The numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at Sacrifice.

@Darlinfan You are a very angry person. Look at what you're writing. Clutching pearls. Bitching. Poor imagination. I think you need to go outside and maybe get some fresh air.

If you'd read my post, which you evidently didn't, you'd see that it starts with "I am torn." That means there are two sides of this. That's a very important cue for you to interpret as "mixed feelings." In case you ever interact with people, you'll want to have that kind of context cluing in mind!

Point 1: Classic game. Nice to see it getting some rub.

Point 2: Glut of new games getting no reviews as this site, like all others, has limited resources. Herzog Zwei is not a new game. It's been reviewed by many other reputable publishers. Unfortunately those same publishers don't review a lot of the great indie games.

I know it's going to be super important for you to have the last word and fire off another angry reply, so just know that I'm not going to bother reading it. No matter what sick burn you think you're conjuring up, I won't see it, I won't care, and you really should find human companionship.

I am torn about this review. On one hand, pleasant to take a look at a classic game and the last of the Sega Ages offerings. On the other, do we really need another review of the game? When resources are limited and there are so many new games every week, it's odd to have NL commit its reviewers to this and other re-releases rather than look at new offerings. Same can be said of the recent Punch Out release. Who does that review serve other than the nostalgic audience? There's a lot of shovelware on the eshop, to be sure, but there are also plenty of games that never get the review treatment on this site.

Strictly placing blame on the devs ignores the fact that there's a publisher involved, too. The devs don't necessarily have the luxury of not releasing a game in order to preserve integrity. There was certainly effort that went into improving the game. Clearly they fell well short and clearly the game deserves a low score. But look up any episode of "What Happened?" on Matt McMuscles' YT channel and you will see there is almost always a lot more to the story of a failed game than many in this comment section are assuming.

Hoping for an RCMADIAX anthology with lots of extra goodies like a SPIKEY WALLS plushy and a keyboard that can only type in block capitals. The combined eShop value is $20 but the physical collection will sell for $180.

LRG is pretty bit or miss for me. They offer a fair amount of middling to sometimes downright bad games that you have to wonder who is willing to pay the physical premium for them.

And regardless of whether the games are good or bad, that physical premium can sting quite a bit when you look at the price on, say, Steam (for a universal platform release).

Here’s hoping they have a good one in the works for switch! Golf Story seems like a deserving title. Maybe it could come with a retro Galf poster.
