I’m stoked for Voice of Cards. The demo was great!
Great games this week. Got Dusk, Mario Party physical for my nephiews, and I am split between Okinawa Rush or Legend of Tianding. Voice of Cards maybe, depends on reviews.
@imgrowinglegs It's a bit on the short side (I'm on the final chapter now I believe) and really easy with unfortunately no difficulty settings but aside from that it's a fun time. The game's presentation never gets old.
I'll be picking up Dusk.
between Dungeon Encounters and Voice of Cards, Square is really feeling experimental with their RPGs and I love both
Wait, Zombie Nation? That's one hell of a throwback and wildcard
Dusk, and Dusk only, for me. Because DMC is on sale, I might also finally bite on the Devil May Cry 1 and 3 sale, but probably just 1. Maybe Resident Evil 0. These are the sales I've been waiting for and here they are, it's my move.
I want to get Mario Party at some point but I'm not sure how much mileage I'll get with single player.
Voice of Cards is weird to me. The gameplay is exactly identical to a regular JRPG, and the card motif is purely aesthetic.
And the card motif doesn't even really make much sense. You'd never see a card in a real tabletop game that says "Next LV: 150 EXP" or whatever on it, since that's not how printed numbers work. But Voice of Cards doesn't seem to care to actually make itself behave like they way it looks, so it's perfectly fine showing you cards with straight-up JRPG systems on it like that.
It's not a bad little JRPG from what I can tell, but it doesn't utilise its unique aesthetic in any meaningful way at all.
@BenAV How short are we talking? I wasn’t gonna play it right away, but hearing that it’s short kind of makes me want to play it sooner. I’m trying to avoid any massive commitments before Shin Megami.
@imgrowinglegs Ten hours or so without rushing.
Can't wait to try World War Z, I trust that Saber Interactive will impress me with that one. Still sad that it missed the Halloween release by a few days.
Goodness gracious, it's a busy time for STG: Zombie Nation, Tiger Heli (JP physical), Cotton 100%, Panorama Cotton, rRootage.
Then we've got Deathsmiles, Ivello Swamp, and Cotton Rock & Roll before the year is out. Not to even mention Mushi's physical release.
The wallet aches.
The original Black Widow is a perfect game. I don't know if this recharged version will come close but I'm buying it asap.
I wish there were more Cotton releases.
Nothing for me from this list. Just bought Dying Light: Platinum Edition for the Switch from Walmart.
Another week, another bullet dodged. Nothing for me. Praise be!
Oooh... Panorama Cotton. May pick that up.
Probably not Cotton 100% since I was fortuitous enough to get an original copy when it was reasonably affordable.
Undernauts for me! I've been waiting for so long..
Mario Party Superstars and World War Z both physical of course. I'll also pick up a physical copy of Fatal Frame probably in December.
Got Mario Party pre-downloaded and raring to go tomorrow! Excited to round up some friends for a fun night or two this Halloween weekend.
Eventually I will get Voice of Cards. I thoroughly enjoyed the demo! I just don't have the funds for it this week (had to take my kitty in for a dermatology check-up. . .thankfully she's doing really well now).
I played the Voice of Cards demo through 3 times and loved it!
I'm a few hours into the full game and nothing has changed, it's one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year 😊
The music and artwork are utterly sublime.
Thoroughly recommended.
That Cotton 100 game, I take it that’s not translated into English Huh?
Considering Fatal Frame and interested in a couple more. I wish these articles had a put on wish list option rather than download or not download.
Also..so many Cotton games on Switch lately! I have been wanting one but not sure which to start with.
Only thing I grabbed this week was mummy demastered in the sale.
@FishyS I would definitely start with Cotton Reboot! Physical copy should still be available if you're into that. (I got one.)
Anyway, a couple years after the original arcade game was released, an enhanced port was released on the X68000 computer. That port is is also included in Cotton Reboot! Maybe you know this stuff, but I'm making my case as to why this is a great way, if not the best way to start the series.
Just such hype music and Halloweeny atmosphere. Love it! (Little tip to get started. Collect the blue gems. Then don't just fire them, charge them by holding down the button for several seconds, and then releasing once charged. This creates a temporary shield which helps you survive while you collect more blue gems. (Shooting the gems changes their color.) Other colors have other effects... experiment, have fun! (I'm a complete novice, so there are likely better strats. I just stumbled onto something that helped keep me alive.)
So I guess I could have just said start with the first, or earliest version available. If not the original arcade version, than go with this. Its the same but better. (Except maybe in one way.)
Also, I doubt it matters too much. PC Engine CD version has great music. Someday I hope to play that, not just listen to the music. Heh.
