@Zeebor15 I know I'm not the only person to make the comparison but it reminds me of that Bomberman Act Zero grimdark game on Xbox... at least in that case the character had a lore reason to be in a grimy dark grey labyrinth. But for a pickup b-ball game, why would I ever want it to take place in what looks like an abandoned rollerskating rink where there's probably some murders and drug use happening in the back.

@ShieldHero It's... really insane and quite homoerotic not that there's anything wrong with that but if you like martial arts it's worth the read/watch.

Honestly just watching the video it looks so grey and un-Nintendo, unlike ARMS. Rocket League by comparison is full of color and when you get a goal the field literally erupts in fireworks, in the video meanwhile someone gets a 3-pointer and barely anything happens effects wise. 3-pointers in a basketball game need to be super satisfying. Seems really cheap. E: The NBA Street games on PS2 are way more satisfying even though they're also pickup 3 on 3 b-ball without a crowd.

Mixed feelings but overall looks fun, hope I can put it on the list of surprisingly good Punch-Out knockoffs along with Hajime no Ippo the Fighting and Wade Hixton's Counter Punch.

EDIT: Btw for an actually cute way to do this, I saw a similar technology in a parade in Germany once, except it was a free event for children and the dude's ride was straight-up a snail so going slow actually made sense lol.

I will be waiting for the next year after the problems are ironed out for this event to be sponsored by Nintendo, like the fanatics in this thread are saying. After all it's ridiculous to say a corporation the size of N, with ownership of the most valuable franchise in the world, will have problems vetting comparitvely tiny speedrunning events. Can't wait for next year's headline, "Nintendo Finally Stops Being Combative and Supports Community Charity Efforts".

@TwinFami: It honestly scares me how much of an echo chamber this place must have been, if every slight bit of negativity, even towards Nintendo being objectively litigious jerks, is met with these brigades of white knights.

It would be cool as part of an event (not just a break during an actual motorcycle rally with functioning cycles) or a parade, not just some weird ad for the probably AI "Honda Riding Assist".

@Milk_ Yeah I understand forming opinions from reviews and videos for paid games (which is still more than many people do), but the game is 100% free and honestly has one of the fairest systems on the market overall, so there is straight-up nothing stopping most people from at least trying it and challenging their prejudices. Hope your kids enjoy the new season!

@Spider-Kev You don't have to play previous chapters or seasons. On the other hand you can lose out on the content of each pass if you don't finish it within a specified time. In the EU at least this is listed within the game.

As someone into strategy RPGs and was the right age when it came out, it was the story and vibe that made me not check out Conquest. I guess it would've been too dark for modern Pokemon but it was their chance to make something like Devil Survivor.

@The_Nintend_Pedant I'm sure he agreed about the 4-way gate, just didn't have the words as he wasn't a "gamer" as such, just got addicted to some games like Ms. Pacman, Galaga and Sonic XD But that's most likely why the official plug-and-play with joystick I got wasn't close enough either, closest I could think of at the time without buying an actual Ms. Pacman cabinet haha.

That's one of the better things about the modern Internet is that's easier than ever to make a website or social media page with just random ramblings and find interested people! My sister and I enjoy the Defunctland channel which is all about theme parks, with millions of subscribers XD And for what it's worth as both a consumer and someone with a little bit of stock in Nintendo, I value hearing from just about anyone, but especially informed folks, actually important things about the quality of their products, including the tactile elements you were talking about, not just clickbait-y trash.

E: I do like a good D-pad but my favorite control method is usually a good arcade stick... my dad always mentioned how D-pads and even cheap sticks didn't let him play Ms. Pacman nearly as well, he couldn't jerk them around to pull off quick escapes as much.

@The_Nintend_Pedant Ah great... guess I'm stuck with the original Saturn pad and USB converter! If only N could at least have a stab at a repro, but someone there or at Sega has an obsession with recreating the Genesis controller instead. I mean I grew up with it but the JP Saturn is just better in every way tbh XD

I think the takeaway is "don't buy unless desperate" but it isn't a great review... btw if you ever do review of controllers in the comments here or somewhere else I'd definitely read them, seem like you have a good understanding of the importance of tactile feedback!

@Vyacheslav333 As someone else who would generally take more fighting games over roguelites, it would help if fighting games in general had better playing and written singleplayer campaigns so people could play them for more than the sparsely populated online servers of an indie fighting game. I suggest light RPGs with maybe some beat-em-up sections.

@DanijoEX-The-Kumiho Is it similar to what I mentioned, the D-pad is always too rigid? I'm losing hope in any repro properly emulating a SS JP pad and might just try to find some random third-party controller with a rolling d-pad and way more features.

But then remembered the Bloodstained team put out stuff for the original game for like five years straight almost lol. It was a lot of Kickstarter stuff but maybe some of these improvements could have been patched into the original game in this case, but I don't wanna speak on their separate situations.

@The_Nintend_Pedant These are all good points and should have been included instead of just "it feels nice in the hands but is also hollow"... meaning it doesn't feel good in the hands?, but also the 30$ price tag should be considered by all parties, that's not a bad price especially for the included features. Still, a better recording of hand-feel would allow readers to make a more informed choice on if the price-point is right for them.

@Ooccoo_Jr A used market for digital games will never work in any ecosystem, including Nintendo's, where literally worthless AI jigsaw h*ntai simulators exist and can be churned out with absolute impunity. It degrades the already bad market of used game what with supply-and-demand laws and much increased volume of games in general (I have only been able to sell one used game in my whole life for significant-enough cash to make it worthwhile) into absolute worthlessness that will only be used for weird money laundering schemes.

Don't have much to contribute but as someone with nailbiting issues removing the SD card on Switch to change out data is surprisingly finicky and the idea of having to do it often for Switch2 is kind of a turnoff tbh.

@Olliemar28 Out of curiosity have you ever been able to try an official JP Saturn pad? Its D-pad kind of sinks fairly deeply into the diagonals in a satisfying way I haven't found recreated well enough in repro pads I've tried.

Blue laces on Timbs aren't a bad color combo for people who can pull off Timbs in general but they could just y'know re-lace em lol.

@The_Nintend_Pedant Yeah they keep Sparrowhawk kind of dark skinned (still Caucasian hair and facial features when K. Le Guin described Earthsea residents as Native American) but the two protags are white. Outright racism in my books, don't adapt Earthsea if you don't adapt the main characters' skin colors correctly. Though I think that awful SciFi Channel movie did that too lol so not just calling out JP here.

@The_Nintend_Pedant If you mute the Earthsea movie it's a beautiful art piece but that's it. I can't get over them making the protags white when this is the first f'ing cover of the books.

Return of the King on Gamecube was definitely a game I saw on Youtube and remembered looking a loooot better... that terrible resolution looked way better on a CRT

@Orwellian87 Respectfully curious about your ranking cause I've only played this, Blood Money and WoA and though Absolution was by far the worst of the three. The actual Hitman levels like King of Chinatown were good for sure but I mostly hated the linear sections. Haven't tried the games before Blood Money.
