NL haven't posted about it but Tony Hawk talked more about it and basically said as plainly as possible his hands were tied. I think some of y'all don't realize how f-ing awful the music industry is, it makes games look like a tabernacle court. Just listen to Labels by GZA, probably my favorite "major labels are evil soulless leaches" song.
@Samalik I mean do you think N is actually going to make GTA: Mushroom Kingdom like that one Robot Chicken sketch? Outside of Fire Emblem which was only at it's raciest for two games, and was still T-rated and nowhere near h@ntai, N just doesn't make games like that, and the tagging system requires an aggregate.
I will be honest, I basically side with you and support as little censorship as possible, but you are getting weirdly worked up about the ability to freely see anime booba and I always have to wonder if people like you contribute as much energy towards protesting for policies that actually help women live freer and more sexually healthy lives IRL and against policies that are being passed in the US right as we speak much less the atrocious repression and mutilation in many less fortunate countries.
@Samalik I don't play the games professionally and am not an old fan in the way you seem to be but like fighting games quite a bit, I have played the most recent entry everyone seems to enjoy with the ridiculously terrible name, 3rd G-Rev or some crap, haven't played Strive, and don't see how the franchise has lost it way in particular. There's still plenty of heavy metal, cool character designs, and let's just be honest, if you don't think there's enough anime babes I see plenty lmao. I still get the vibe of playing a game version of a cool late 90s/early 2000s anime that would be broadcast on Toonami. Now be honest, is there another reason for your consternation that rhymes with Lidget?
Um wow that's a huge announcement to make right tf out of nowhere. No strong feelings on the Zelda franchise, hope these kids do a decent job and ignore the stunted manchildren ***** who will insult them for nothing.
@Samalik I guess that's true, but I feel like the same consumer freedom you're advocating for would mean someone can just... take keywords off they don't care about anymore? As long as none are instituted by default I don't see the problem with that, if someone specifically doesn't want Vampire Survivor-likes in a Bullet Hell search for example.
Like I probably support your view overall but if someone wants to filter racy games they should be able to no matter if they're "missing out" on fun games, just like people should be free to enjoy that content they should also be free to find it a turn-off (no pun intended).
So without analog triggers, Hall Effect triggers just mean they last really long basically? I was going to say I don't think I've ever heard of a shoulder trigger breaking but actually I think an old cheapo Gamecube controller I had did once
Deliberately or on accident making the SKU of the last console generation straight-up better is... certainly a choice. Sure Switch 2 version will have some improvements but c'mon, as someone who quite enjoyed the DQIII 2DHD thing, it already looked quite good and gameplay-wise was clearly an NES game, and apparently the SW2 port is still 30fps, how many bells and whistles do you really need...
EDIT: @Enigk is probably right, with how absurdly popular these specific games are in JP, this comes off as some twisted ploy to get extra dosh from grandmas who get the wrong version, double-dippers who get two versions, or nostalgic adults making a regret purchase on launch if they don't have both consoles
@AussieMcBucket These consoles have puny internal storage in 2025 and Game Key cards mean that precious data is taken up by the game, doesn't happen on an "old-school" cart other than a tiny bit of game and save data. I don't go out of my way to get digital, but already have two SD cards full of Switch stuff
That bundles rule seems counter-productive. Sure it's a favorite of AI slop but I can see like student art projects, game jam compilations or charity bundles sold for cheap being unfairly penalized.
They could really just implement filters like Steam. You can even filter specific words/genres, so if you want or don't want some combo of h*ntai, AI, idle game, auto-battler, you can just mix and match.
@Spider-Kev: Well the free album was U2 to be fair, hideous. (Some of their earlier stuff is pretty good tbf)
@WiltonRoots Slowdown from an arcade shooter is a good example of an fps drop actually helping gameplay. I feel like that can be deliberately programmed in though I dunno. Also Dodopachi is balls hard did you actually make much progress.
E @Scrubelicious: Or a dude like the Flash who can manipulate distortions in space-time caused by extreme speed. Awesome pfp btw
@Ironcore Wow that's worse than the usual case I hear about which is just motion sickness. I do feel it's pretty mercenary some people's responses itt are just "get a PC"... where you can't even find N products
@The_Nintend_Pedant In Germany ripoff Transformers art for car shows and stuff is absurdly popular. Makes sense, as someone who's worked with kids in the area, they love love "Autos" almost as much as "Dinosaurier" XD
@Exerion76 They always have been for better and worse. See the N lawyer in court during the creation of the ESRB in the 90s crying crocodile tears over Sega's incredibly immoral and depraved... Night Trap. Similar vibes to ol' Walt ratting out all the pinko commie strikers and Warner Bros animators. https://www.polygon.com/2018/4/20/17263846/nintendo-night-trap-howard-lincoln-congress
I feel like this is the arc of Seth Rogen's whole life, becoming a cartoon monke.
EDIT: @axelhander Seth Rogen WILL do a terrible job voicing a character you once liked and you WILL like it, thus sayeth Hollywood. Including friggin Napolean in an upcoming Animal Farm remake
@mlt Man I agree on a personal level, I can handle frame drops, inconsistent frame timing, or hell 30fps because it doesn't personally affect my enjoyment that much, Bloodborne is still great. I just always gotta ask on behalf of people like TB or @Ironcore who factually get motion sick from FPS lower than 60, is this issue not affecting their enjoyment of the game enough to be considered? Not an attack, legit question.
@Strawblaze Pretty much the vibe I get yeah, considering how many people seem to preach for willful ignorance. I only owned a 3DS att but I bet they just loved Totatlbiscuit's videos about the importance of performance and option menus lol.
Btw no pm'ing here afaik but you have a link for that Franciscka vK art perchance, looks sweet.
Lmao Dolphin having such a better input latency result is a really poor showing from N's Gamecube emulator, anyone saying anything else is coping hard.
@Suketoudara I mentioned before, someone can just look at which songs made it over from the original to see which bands have the least stingy A&R reps.
@nessisonett I was more just asking to clarify rather than making an argument. Imo I can see his logic. Only bad thing is when a game outright loses tracks due to music licensing.
I haven't played this series. To clarify, these remakes have licensed tracks from big name artists like Iron Maiden and Mastodon, just entirely different ones from the originals outside of a few? That's... er, strange. Look at the original tracklists and songs that didn't make the transition to see which bands have stingy AnR reps I guess.
I agree, but we might be falling in the same trap here of not staying on topic with this thread which is also against rules just fyi. Last reply on that.
@WiltonRoots I would say I am completely willing to debate you over the ethics of piracy and emulation and plenty of other people are too, but I don't even see what argument you are actually making. If you are saying adults never use emulators or download ROMs or are immoral for doing so, I'd like to point to Sonic 3 and Knuckles with it's soundtrack involvement from Michael Jackson and one of his producers Brad Buxer, including the specifically recreated 80s new wave song "Hard Times" by the Jetzons. In modern releases this soundtrack is unable to be accessed through legal means of playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles due to backroom legal disputes with the Jackson estate and is replaced with a completely different OST. If someone wants to experience the game with this original OST, keeping in mind they had nothing to do with any of the legal events that led to it being removed, what other option do they have than a ROM of the original game?
It's an excellent trilogy. Keep in mind the levels are gigantic with no loading screens and each game pushing the size further and further, full of NPCs with pretty realistic collision, physics, small interactions both with Agent 47 and each other, etc. All with the Switch 2 being quite CPU-bound and Cyperpunk also not reaching 60 (which I would ague is not as reactive or as detailed a game as Hitman) it becomes more understandable. Still it isn't great, a 40 FPS mode docked would be better imo.
EDIT: Btw at least on PC the games starting with 3 also have DLSS which helps a lot with these issues.
@Arawn93 Why doesn't the FBI go harder after counterfeit merchandise, I see new bootleg Mario merchandise pop up ever year in meme videos. When the bootleg merchandise industry has been proven to have deep links to international cartels and associated white collar criminals that fund them, aka actual hardcore criminals not homebrew gaming neckbeards. https://www.unodc.org/documents/counterfeit/FocusSheet/Counterfeit_focussheet_EN_HIRES.pdf
@QBertFarnsworth Oh yeah, legal orgs like the Embracer Group "Games Archive" as cited by Video Games Europe. Great shepherds of game preservation, the Embracer Group XD
EDIT: @Ralizah: "Playing whack-a-mole with these criminals won't stop it completely, obviously, anymore than targeting any illegal operation ever stops the activity completely, but it will mitigate it and push it further underground." Same logic as the War on Drugs started in the 80s, that turned out great.
I'd put Shadow the Hedgehog at 24 above Unleashed. It's really not that bad overall if you don't try to A-rank some of the levels, then it becomes unbearable. Also has some really great music. Not just nu-metal butt rock but tell me the guitar in GUN Fortress isn't alternately melancholy and hypnotic, yet somehow menacing. Some really cool bass stuff too. Nice sh*t https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo44M2uW5RY
@AllBLK Yeah, amazing how much time the glowies spend taking down websites like this and Megaupload which wasn't even based in the US but Hong Kong, for the temerity of letting The Tudors be watched for free, while blatant actual harmful criminality runs rampant and absurdly visible.
@ThatOneLevel Piracy does suck for small creators but stuff like Balatro which I haven't even tried seems to take off commercially in ways I've never seen with indie games before. Honestly it's way worse for indie musicians.
EDIT: Also it was not always true that Japanese culturally didn't like the Xbox, sales were never spectacular but Xbox 360 had a lot of the best shooter arcade conversions that top players used to score and some big support from dudes like Tomonobu Itagaki and Team Ninja. By the Xbone it was over though.
I mean viewing their games this way isn't bad if the quality stays high enough. In the actual investor meeting is also this: "We do not want to set a release date first and then force the production schedule to meet it. This is similar to game development; we want to release something that we are confident will satisfy our consumers." That's definitely good to hear said out loud and firmly at a meeting like this. But I can't lie, you can't choose a better animation studio than Illumination to team with, if you believe in making "products" over art. Yes they're almost universally successful but they're some of the blandest soulless crap I've ever seen.
@ImpromptuR Interesting saying that with a Leif profile. You found nothing artistic about his arc in Thracia 776? Because he's my favorite FE protagonist specifically for the journey he goes through in Thracia, especially by FE standards it's very well done, hampered by the original terrible fan translation.
@Kestrel So you just let people insult you with a whistle and an "they're entitled to their opinion". Dude is literally saying anyone who likes lap racing, so a good portion of motorsport, is mentally insufficient. He's entitled to his opinion just like we're entitled to call it out. edit: Maybe I'm being overly aggressive, sorry about that. The dude can speak for himself if he thinks people can subjectively prefer lap racing, or if objectively circuit racing is better.
@HoodedSpirit Wait you can't have separate scores for separate accounts under one roof anymore? That's awful and kills basically any scoring-based game.
