UK physical chart data is now in for the week ending 19th December, revealing that four Nintendo titles have managed to cling onto top ten positions over Christmas.
It's Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Valhalla which takes number one this year, fending off last week's chart leader Cyberpunk 2077 and Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The highest-placing Nintendo exclusive is, once again, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is down slightly in fifth place this week.
Elsewhere, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Ring Fit Adventure and Super Mario 3D All-Stars have all held on at the bottom of the table.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:
Last Week | This Week | Title |
---|---|---|
4 | 1 | Assassin's Creed Valhalla |
2 | 2 | Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War |
1 | 3 | Cyberpunk 2077 |
5 | 4 | FIFA 21 |
3 | 5 | Animal Crossing: New Horizons |
8 | 6 | Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales |
7 | 7 | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe |
6 | 8 | Just Dance 2021 |
16 | 9 | Ring Fit Adventure |
10 | 10 | Super Mario 3D All-Stars |

Kinda wish Mario Kart 8 would stop selling so well so Nintendo might get to work on number 9!
To say we have just entered a new generation, Nintendo UK/Europe must be feeling pretty good that they have nearly half of the UK chart for Christmas. Especially as the UK has never really been their biggest market
How is Cyberpunk 2077 still so high up?
I bet Ubisoft is celebrating Cyberpunks disastrous launch right now
@Jedge396 I don't get why they won't at least make a DLC for MK8DX, all I want are new tracks, doesn't matter if it is in form of a new game or simply DLC
@Rockman55 If ever a game deserved to crash and burn.
Good to see Horace currently sitting at number 4 on the UK eShop in the chart that includes physical games and downloads! Abd number 3 in the download only chart. That game is amazing, especially at £1!
@fox_mattcloud I don't think they've done this well in the UK since the SNES days.
Nintendo Switch consoles sold out on Amazon u.k and only available through third party resellers, looks like another record year for the Switch, despite the fact it has no games.
@Jedge396 That won't happen until their next console. Mario Kart home circuit is the exclusive Switch Mario Kart, lols...
I wouldn't be surprised if the next proper Mario Kart isn't a Nintendo Kart with all their franchises represented. Kind of where they've been going with Animal Crossing, Zelda, Excitebike, F-Zero inclusion.
To be honest Assassins Creed Valhalla is not a good assassins game , at best a mediocre Viking RPG with lots of woke .🤪
@johnvboy the switch has loads of amazing games if you are just picking it up and/or skipped the wii-U.
Its just pretty grim for those who have had one since launch and supported Nintendo last gen.
@Clyde_Radcliffe kinda hoping Home Circuit will be a spin off type game. I just want a proper MK9
@Rockman55
Christmas present. My nephew insists he still wants it on PS4 even though he is aware of all the problems and I offered to get him something else. So I have reluctantly been one of those sales in the past week!
Another great week for Switch, practically 5 Switch titles in the top 5 as you can near guarantee the majority of those Just Dance sales are for Switch.
Lol if cyberpunk is at #3 only a week after launch...big big oof
@Jedge396
I bet that they are working on that right now
@Rockman55 lots of people bought it on hype without knowing about its problems ahead of time.
snagged 3d all stars for my sister last week since she saw galaxy and wanted to play that
@Jedge396 It is sad, because Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is just a port of Mario Kart 8 from the Wii U over six and a half years ago. I played it when it first came out on the Wii U. It is a fantastic Mario Kart game, perhaps even the best, but I hate when a series that is so important to me doesn't get its own entry on a system. It just hurts my opinion of the system (Switch).
Will get Valhalla one day, am currently deep in rdr2 again. Merry Xmas everyone xx
@ChaosBadger777,
Do not agree with you there, yes this year has been tough, but you have to make allowances due to the pandemic, the Switch is my favorite Nintendo console of all time, and with Animal crossing out this year it has filled the time very well.
And let's be honest here, there were not that many people supporting Nintendo with the Wii U in first place.
Great for Ubi. 71hrs into Valhalla, and still has me hooked. It is a great bang for the money.
@ChaosBadger777 Yep, 100%.
Always get consoles at launch (WiiU/Switch no exception) 2020 has been disappointing on Switch (especially at the $60 range) if in that camp.
We got Bravely2 and MH: Rise early 2021. So there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there.
AC:V is great.
Miles Morales is also great.
The rest of this list? Meeeeeh
I purchased a lot of games in 2020 but many were not made in 2020 (like DQ11) or they were old ports.
The only new IP I've played this year that was released this year has been Hades. Among Us ad well but i first played that on other systems so it doesn't count.
It's been dry this year and next year has one game on my radar, MH rise, hopefully they stealth drop something but i won't be holding my breath.
@Clyde_Radcliffe
I think they should still brand it Mario Kart though.
@Agramonte
Mario 3D All Stars and Age of Calamity are the first full price console games I've bought in about 2 years and they were great.
"Man, the new Assassin's Creed sure looks different from what I remember," I said to myself before reading the rest of the title :facepalm:
@BongoBongo123 Yet to pay full price for a Wii, Gamecube or WiiU port on Switch. I have a bunch of them in my closet, never thought of replaying them (a switch version is not changing that). I rented Age of Calamity, so it cost me $15 to reinforce that I really dislike Warrior style gameplay. Not my cup of tea. I'll bite for Bravely 2 and Rise.
@Agramonte
Yeah Im excited for Rise and I've never properly got into a Monster Hunter game.
Hopefully Nintendo will drop something Zelda related (maybe a collection) after this fiscal year. Something is definitely happening after the anniversary limited editions get taken down...
@BongoBongo123 Oh great!, hopefully you become a fan after Rise. I loved MH World, but glad we now have a handheld version again.
I wish Calamity was more like Miles Morales. A smaller ZBOTW but with the same gameplay mechanics. ZBOTW2 is high on my list.
Ryza2, Bravely 2, Rise, P5 Strikers. I am excited for the next 3 months on Switch.
Crikey Valhalla being number one kind of sums up what a poor year it has been overall
@TheFullAndy ah they'll get it patched up yet. I know that patch 1.05 increased traffic and crowd density and texture detail while bringing the Xbox One X to a near stable 30fps it looks incredible actually. The og Xbox is up from 15 to 23. I would imagine the PS4 base and Pro would have seen similar upticks.
Alot of bugs still to squash but it's promising to see such an improvement in little over a week, still I'm waiting until Easter before purchase.
Only after picking up Crysis Remastered on Xbox One X also, once I heard the December patch pretty much locked the framerate in Quality mode to 30 and nearly all the issues, such as screen tear and frame timing, non loading textures, npc lighting, models etc were fixed. It is phenomenal visually but again another studio releasing a game way before it was ready for launch.
@liveswired
Hope so for my nephew's sake.
Cyberpunk 2077 has never been a game that has interested me personally but CDPR's conduct in releasing the game deserves to be criticised as do gaming sites like IGN for actually agreeing to release video reviews with promotional video only.
