One particular announcement during Square Enix's E3 2019 presentation which seemed slightly different to the rest was Circuit Superstars.
This top-down physics-based racing title by Original Fire Games is channelling certain micro-sized classics of yesteryear and is coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020. It'll also be published by Square Enix Collective.
You'll be able to enter the world of motorsport, plan your pit strategy and race wheel-to-wheel with friends.
Did you expect a game like this to pop up during Square Enix's presentation? Are you interested in finding out more about it? Tell us down in the comments.

Micro Machines? Super Sprint? RC Pro AM?
Day 1 purchase!
Looks really fun actually. Hope it's not so sim-like to be maddening. I like my racing a little more arcadey. Def give it a shot though
I hope it’s got a good sense of speed. If so I’m in
Looks nice. Bit like Motorstorm RC which was excellent.
Reminds me of GeneRally. Looks great! Hopefully it’ll be early 2020.
Are we sure it's not called Circuit Superstars Remastered? I thought that was their theme this year...
Did they say they are a a Mexican developer? Or is it just me?
@electrolite77 It was ‘ok’.. especially when I was hoping for a MicroMachines 96 /V3 revival... but I’ll take it given there’s nothing better haha. Hopefully this is at least as good.
EDIT : forget everything I just said - I was thinking of Mantis Burn Racing.. oops
Reminds me a mix of Ivan "Iron Man" Stewart's Super Off Road with Micro Machines, but looks too generic.
@fafonio yes the developers are a Mexican team which is awesome!
Game looks great to me, reminds me a ton of RC Pro Am. Glad racing games seem to be finally getting a lot of releases on the switch!
@oji You beat me to it! I have super fond memories of Super Off Road Racing - something about the way the trucks moved over the ramps felt really satisfying and challenging - loved Wave Race BS for the wave riding mechanics too. We need more dimensions in racing games!
final fantasy war of the visions looks very final fantasy tactics. wonder if this will be switch bound?
I haven't seen many Mexican developers. That's cool. This looks like it will be a great change of pace from most other modern racing games.
Mine absolutely.
Hey I like indies and the game looks cute. I shall give it a go.
