Re: Wii Street U Service Being Discontinued In March, Leaving eShop This Month

DrkBndr

@Mrclaycoat yeah, I did find that weird. 3 years also isn't so long.
I'm guessing Nintendo made a contract with Google in order to use Street View, and that that contract is going to end in March. They probably could have the choice to prolong the contract, but didn't see it as something important enough to warrant the costs.
It's a shame for those who bought it though. Nintendo should have reminded everyone a year earlier, in my opinion.

Re: Wii Street U Service Being Discontinued In March, Leaving eShop This Month

@Mrclaycoat It said so on the website of Nintendo themselves and also on the eShop page in the description. Here is the press release from nintendo uk, where you'll find them mentioning this beneath: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/News/2013/February/Wanderlust-comes-to-Wii-U-with-Wii-Street-U-powered-by-Google-724644.html

And here is a blog post from 2013, proving that they didn't just add it today or something: http://train2game-news.co.uk/2013/02/27/train2game-news-explore-the-world-with-your-wii-u/
I think this site also mentioned it when it first came out, but I can't seem to find the article.

Re: Analytics Company Fancensus Rates Major Nintendo Releases and Their Impact in 2015

DrkBndr

@rjejr Nintendo does advertise their games, even more so than either Playstation or Xbox. The past year they even had more ads than the two combined: http://venturebeat.com/2016/01/11/gamemakers-spent-nearly-630m-on-tv-ads-in-2015/

The reason why they aren't high on the list, is because most of these games were highly anticipated multiplatform games, which have a far larger potential consumer base. It would be bad of Nintendo to spend even more marketing on games that are on platforms that are far to small. Most people who own Nintendo consoles probably already are aware of upcoming Nintendo games anyways.

Re: EA Will Evaluate "Any And All Opportunities" When It Comes To Nintendo And NX

DrkBndr

EA did bring a lot of their games to the Wii and DS, and initially also to the Wii U but they probably didn't sold enough to warrant further support. Hopefully the NX sells well, so that third party will keep releasing their games on it. For the moment, the only EA game I'm looking forward to is Mirror's Edge Catalyst so it would be cool if they ported it to the NX.

Re: Editorial: A Wii U Price Cut is Still Worthwhile Despite Its Ongoing Woes

DrkBndr

@wayneyrob22 what are you talking about? The browser has always worked as well as it does now. The reason why you might have gotten that many flash player stuff, was because a lot of sites were late to switch to html5. That's not Nintendo's fault. The only thing that was really fixed with the updates is load time, which was considerably shortened.

Re: Review: Devil's Third (Wii U)

DrkBndr

@davetheshrew uh i don't think so. Nintendo isnt going to produce a lot of these, so price will probably stay above 30 euros, except if you maybe buy it used. And we know the digital price will stay high.

Re: A-Train: City Simulator

@Donjwolf When you're placing tracks, you can undo the ones you've placed before they are built.
But once you've built them, you can still remove them, but you lose the money you've spent on building them.

Hope this answers your question

Re: Nintendo Download: 1st January (Europe)

DrkBndr

@SeVok I remember that when the ambassador titles became available, Nintendo said that gba games will stay exclusive for ambassadors, and they wouldn't release them to the general public.
They can of course always change their mind, but for now, they don't seem they have.

Re: Nintendo Reports Financial Losses As Expected, Along With Modest Wii U Sales Targets

DrkBndr

@Peach64 Where do you even get those numbers?
Forbes, which is a very reliable site, states that Nintendo has 11.6 billion dollars on hand at the moment, which is much more than what you're saying.
You can see it here: http://www.forbes.com/companies/nintendo/

OT: As for the Wii U numbers, they are very bad. Don't be suprised if they announce a new home console by the end of 2015. The fact that their projections are very low, means that even Nintendo has lost all hope on saving the Wii U, and they'll probably are thinking of replacing it as soon as possible.

Re: Pokémon X & Y Hit 11.61 Million Worldwide Sales as Nintendo Lists 3DS and Wii U Million Sellers

DrkBndr

@Peach64 It was a big succes in Japan.

These are only the sales of 2013, while it came out in 2012 in Japan and 2013 in the rest of the world. Most of the Japanese sales happened in 2012, which is why the number for Japan this year is under 1 million (which is still good for a game that's been out for over a year). AC sold 3 million in Japan last year if I remember correctly.
