Well, with one thing and another it's been a busy ol' week. We had some Pokémon announcements early on followed by some hands-on time with the upcoming Super Mario Maker 2 (plus some disappointing details, too), and not to forget the biggest news of the week - Ghostbusters is coming to Switch! It's time now to look to the weekend and see what our plans are in the realm of video games. Several Nintendo Life team members have done just that, and we'd love for you to join in via the poll and comment sections below. Enjoy!

This weekend, I’ll actually be digging into some old GameCube games, as I found an indigo system online for just $30 - and in fantastic condition, too. Insanity! So there will probably be some Animal Crossing, a little bit of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and also Pikmin, Ocarina of Time, Luigi’s Mansion and Metroid Prime (I really went all out with the reclamation of my GameCube years). Should be a nostalgically good time!

Having caved to Reggie's scare-mongering, I picked up a SNES Classic Mini earlier in the week. So this weekend I shall be diving into that mini console to see what pearls I can find within. I'd like to think I'll find the time to try Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the first time, but I'll likely end up blasting around a few circuits in F-Zero and briefly testing Star Fox 2 before wishing my N64 could connect to my TV so I could play Star Fox 64.

Video games? How can you even think about them these days? Don’t you know what's coming? Can’t you feel it? Like an electrical current buzzing, zapping, flowing through the air around you, whispers, rumours, leaks, dates… oh no, I got myself some dreaded pre-E3 jitters! Press kits, trailers, live events, news to cover… Will it be this year that we finally get a new F-Zero? Best not to think about any of that while playing F-Zero GX on Gamecube this weekend just to keep ye old reflexes razor sharp, you never know when they may come in handy...
Well, still had time to find a game of the week: Gato Roboto is proof you can still make a lovely fresh Metroidvania with just two colours. Good Kiki!

As we get closer to yet another E3, I intend to play as many games as I possibly can before the annual event. You see, I have a very bad habit of boarding the hype train around this time of year and completely dropping all of the titles I’ve been slowly chipping away at for weeks or months on end to instead play some unproven release.
So, this weekend, my aim is to spend some time in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate testing out the new VR Mode, finish Fire Emblem Warriors, complete the story in Team Sonic Racing and play Downwell in between, which I recently got in the Devolver Digital sale for a few bucks.
What games are you playing this weekend? (192 votes)

This week I will be mostly playing
Smash Ultimate
Breath of the Wild
Samus Returns
Wonder Boy
PAC-Attack
Fullblox
Snipperclips
Horizon Chase Turbo & probably Beat Hazard 2
I’ve not wanted to start anything too meaty waiting for Persona Q2.
I’ve been loving Steamworld Heist which I picked up with points in the recent sale. So it feels like it’s free.
Also a bit of Smash and Dragon Ball FighterZ. And I got to the Hand Of The King in Dead Cells for the first time last night.
Going out for a curry tonight and I don’t want to take my Switch. So I might play some Advance Wars Dual Strike.
And I’ve just downloaded the BlazBlue CF Japanese demo, so I’ll give that a spin at some point.
Gato roboto
Team Sonic racing
Zero katana
If i have time though
Need to get back to Breath of the Wild but been playing my Vita lately as I'm working through the entire Resident Evil series, and that starts with the PSOne games.
I dug Samus Returns out of my backlog and did a 100% playthrough.
Dunno why I never played it before. I've had it since launch-day and I've always enjoyed me some 2D Metroid action (including the original Metroid II, which I thought was pretty dang impressive for its day).
I went into the game expecting it to be to Metroid II what Zero Mission was to the original Metroid (Fusion-style controls with mostly faithful level design beyond a handful of new areas sprinkled in here and there).
Needless to say, I was quite floored with the sheer scope of this remake.
The devs definitely weren't kidding when they called it "more of a reimagening than a remake".
Even the inherently more linear design of the world feels much less intrusive now that each main area is made up of several smaller environments with their own aesthetic and music, which manages to replicate that satisfying feeling you get in a traditional Metroid title when you discover a new area through your own incentive and curiosity even though you still have to visit each main area in a completely linear fashion.
In terms of where it lands on my list of Metroid titles... I'd probably put it around the same spot as Fusion, as both titles sacrificed certain parts of the Metroid experience in order to emphasize others. Fusion scaled down the exploration in order to more effectively communicate its story and atmosphere by sending the player through a predetermined path of rising tension and foreshadowing to future events. Samus Returns, on the other hand, underplays the minimalistic tone and some of the visual story-telling of its inspiration in order to better service the combat and aesthetic variety.
I'll agree with some critics in that the final fight, as spectacular as it is, doesn't really serve the story in any meaningful way and downright does a disservice to the original title's intent. However: the fight DOES serve an important real-world purpose, which is that it reafirms that Sakamoto truly does consider the Prime series to be a legitimate part of the franchise's narrative even though he himself has a very hands-off approach to that part of the mythos.
Splatoon. Always Splatoon. And maybe finally finish Golf Story.
Devolver digital stuff I've bought in the sale. Ape out and katana zero.
Isaac. Have just hit 900 hours. I only have ten hard completion marks left to gain... and then most of the challenges. Still not bored! 😆 Have a great weekend, all!
On what I think must be the final boss of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, so it would almost be rude not to finish it. It's already beaten me a few times already (those homing demons - grrr), but I am sure I can grind it out with a few more mana potions.
Also, @CrimsonMoonMist has inspired me to take on Samus Returns, but I think I might need a palate-cleanser before taking on another Metroidvania. Might boot up Celeste, which I picked up on sale, but I also need to finish off Dark Souls Remastered (which won't happen this weekend, but I am getting closer).
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for the Game Boy Advance, alternating between playing it on an original Game Boy Advance with a backlit screen mod and the GameCube's Game Boy Player. Basically an old school Nintendo Switch. =)
@Ooyah I've barely scratched the surface with Isaac and think I'm well over 100 hours. Maybe near 200 now. Still not bored either!
Friends are coming over and we will try some Coop Games or maybe Mario Party.
Wrapping up Final Fantasy XII on Switch, which should be done just in time for Mario Maker 2.
@Ooyah 900 hrs is mighty impressive
@BorderlineJon
Am happy to see another Isaac fan! 😆 I think that the amazing synergies between items just make different runs so distinct from one another. There's always something happening which feels "new".
All the games, while I juggle all the rest of the games, while playing a ton of games. Seriously, I’m to the point of too many games on my Switch.... I need to be able to pause time and catch up.
But this weekend for me will be Stardew, MHGU, and Dead Cells. Maybe some MK11 or Late Shift. Need to start clearing back log to clear memory card
@Ooyah congrats on the 900 hours on Isaac! Quite the feat! I’m only around 150 hours. Great game, picked up at launch and keep coming back to it about once a week.
I'll be continuing my adventures with PetitCom4/SmileBASIC on Switch, (Japan Only, came out last week)
I've already got SpikeDislike uploaded, and am currently in the middle of a new Flappadiddle game.
o/yeayo/
I'm 30+ hours into Final Fantasy XII. Have decided not to start anything else until I finish it. But I'm having an itch to begin Dragon's Dogma or FFX.
@Dm9982 I am with you, friend! I actually have to think and plan game play management. It is all good fun, but there is simply not enough time in the day. (or my eyeballs and fingers get tired!)
I think I am near the end of Steamworld Quest: that is a great game! Also Rocket League and Box Boy and Girl.
Bought Lapis x Labyrinth for PS4. Amazing game!
Also started playing Diablo on the Switch again for Season 17 rewards.
Two different games for this weekend.
1. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster (Switch)
(FF X) Keep battling at Sanubia Desert and still in mission to search for Yuna.
2. Bomberman Land 3 (PS2)
Keep collecting card pieces to unlock new places from different Color Zone.
Probably, i will play other games: Portal Knights (Switch) to get freebies from online play and some random NDS games depend on my mood.
@Dm9982 @BigE Cheers! I am not sure if it should take this long to complete! lol Particularly as I also have hundreds of hours logged with the game on Vita, PS4, and 3DS!!! 😆 Am still loving every minute, though!
Team Sonic raining with the missus. And some monster boy in-between.
Been playing Sushi Striker on the 3DS. Quite an addicting game, plus the 3DS needs sone love.
Hopefully more Team Sonic Racing this evening and tomorrow. Get through the story mode.
A Plague Tale on PS4. A brilliant stealth gem. Got it instead of Sonic Racing and glad I did.
Playing through Fire Emblem: Echoes for the second time. Going for a girls-only run. Why? Because boys drool! 😜
More Team Sonic Racing.
Atelier Lulua didn't arrive in time for the weekend sadly so decided to start Our World Is Ended instead. Bit of Splatoon, bit of Just Shapes and Beats (Hardcode mode), bit of Gungeon.
Games:
Super Smash Bros Ultimate - getting spirits, and the new peach spirit.
Super Smash Bros Wii U - going back for a lot of reasons. unlock all characters, and etc.
Animal Crossing for Gamecube - checking for new furniture, still trying to upgrade Tom Nook's store.
Animal Crossing New Leaf - working on unlocking all the buildings. getting something out of the camp.
Animal Crossing amiibo Festival - I know shocking. i have said awhile now that i wouldn't buy this game. but, since it was $8.99 (used a $10 Amazon Gift Card to buy it. ) i decided to buy it. and i quite enjoy playing it. however, it's Definitely ins't worth the full $60 price tag, when the game was still new. the amiibo that came with it will also be used on New Leaf and HHD as well. once i get a NFC Scanner for my 2DS to read them. so i'll look and see what's there to offer for that. still excited for the upcoming switch game more though. and still sad that Nintendo never ended up on making a mainline Animal Crossing game for Wii U. although, it wouldn't shock me if the upcoming switch game was originally planned for Wii U to begin with.)
Shin Megami Tensei III - pretty likely, haven't gone back to it yet.
Timesplitters Future Perfect - Challenge mode should be fun.
Mario Kart Wii - pretty much the same as Smash Bros for Wii U
Fallout 4 - Modding, Quest and all that.
Minion Masters - Collecting Cards.
TV Show:
The Promised Neverland
Boxboy + Boxgirl with my partner, it’s incredibly charming and waaaay less frustratingly fiddly than Snipperclips.
FFX2 and maybe another Sonic fangame if I get the time.
Getting back to Octopath Traveler. Stopped at 40 hours. The grind aspect in that game really sucks.
Ocarina of Time 3ds
@Trellgoth man, I can’t wait to get Lapis X Labyrinth! It looks a lot of fun. I don’t have the funds right now but as soon as I can I’m picking it up.
@dartmonkey Is the last option on the poll supposed to be "Nothing for me this week"?
Anyway, I'll be playing Forza Horizon 3 or 4, maybe Kingdom Hearts 3, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
I'm finally entering in the disgaea series, I got disgaea 1 last week, and I'm starting it this weekend, I hope it has a nice story, loved the graphics!
Tetris 99, Super Mario Bros Deluxe, Downwell. Simple short stuff while I sort out my inc company.
Microsoft Flight (Games For Windows) - Still watching my Let's play.
Cut the Rope Experiments (Android) - Such a great time waster.
Jetpack Joyride (Windows Store) - I wish this supported the Xbox 360 PC controller, but I'll get used to the space bar instead.
I could really, really, REALLY go for a new Zelda game, or even some DLC for BotW. Absent that, I’ll be digging into recent cherished acquisitions:
Shovel Knight
Horizon Chase Turbo
Fast RMX
Everspace
In the probablies:
Starlink
Yooka Laylee
The Messenger
Hyper Light Drifter
Runner3
And, when my buddy comes over:
Rocket League
Flat Heroes
Towerfall
That’ll be the weekend for me. Happy gaming to one and all!
Marble It Up! One of my favorite Switch games and it just got a bunch of free new content.
I downloaded and beat Crypt of the Serpent King. It’s a first person dungeon crawler, but with real time combat rather than the “turn based” style of Etrian Odyssey.
It’s decent enough, especially for the price, but the lack of variety does hamper enjoyment a little. Each level only has a single enemy type and a boss, which males things a bit samey.
Will now carry on with Star Sky and Hammerwatch.
Unlocked Piranah Plant in Mario Tennis Aces and bought a few Devolver eshop games in the sale: Not A Hero, Ape Out and Pikunuki. Given them a short try and enjoying them all so far. Will put in some more time over the weekend.
Will also give Smash VR a spin and try to get the Peachette Spirit too.
@Matthew010 Well spotted - that was a test, and you passed! Yep, definitely a test 😉
@dartmonkey Thanks!
Liberation hd switch
I finally got my physical copy of Hollow Knight, but I’m trying to clear out a couple games before I start that one. Playing Luigi U at the moment, plus revisiting my New Leaf town on 3DS.
Playing alot this weekend actually. Castlevania 1, Celeste, enter the gungeon, splatoon 2 and even some Mario kart 8D
I too just picked up an old GameCube on he cheap! I’m dipping my toes in all sorts of games I’ve never played before. Luigi’s Mansion, Fire Emblem Path of Radience, and Skies of Arcadia are the big ones.
I also have the Lord of the Rings games, Twilight Princess, and Soul Caliber. I would take kindly to suggestions on further acquisitions!!!
(Although please don’t say Eternal Darkness or Pikmin, I am familiar with those games cuz the internet. Lol)
@WomboCombo i normally don't play everything at once in a day. i usually just play two-three games for a few hours and then do something else the whole day and do the same thing tomorrow and onward.
Going to put Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to one side despite still being short of a blade or 2. Going to start XB2 Golden Country. Want to tick another one off the backlog before the torrent of new games in the next 6 months.
Assassins Creed 3, Steamworld Quest
@thesilverbrick be prepared to one of the best metroidvania ever (and to some rage quits )
@imogenpeach The Golden Country is amazing! Enjoy!
@imogenpeach how many hours do you have in it? I still miss 7 blades after 250h
I'm taking a bit of a break from FF9 (on disc 2 at the moment) and playing through Super Metroid on my SNES Mini for the first time! Never played it before but loving it so far! Hoping I can get it done this weekend. Also liking the look of Gato Roboto so may pick that up.
Just finished metroid other M and I have to say I loved it! It is not a metroidvania but it delivers one of the best storytelling in the series and the scenenatics still hold to this day. Also started child of light and enjoying so far
@mcdreamer amazing game but if you never played it and don't want to check online be prepared to get lost without knowing where to go a few times (also about 10h for a blind playthrough). Enjoy your time!
Has anybody else been playing Assassins Creed III on Switch. So far it has been very interesting if not a bit linear. I just got my Assassin suit and I feel like I am halfway through the game. Just curious to see what other people think of this game.
Been getting back into Warframe after a while of not playing and Dauntless on ps4.
@Glitchling78 couple days ago, I saw a gameplay vid of the game and thought it looked real fun to play. Without seeing that vid, the game would never reach my radar for some reason. The game is so worth it!
@Balta666
4 missing (not including the DLC/new game + ones). Only 90 hours so you’re way ahead of me. I hear such good things about Kos-Mos and Boreas and don’t have either... now I’m thinking maybe I should give it another few hours! I’m still really enjoying it and now I’m going back doing all the side quests I realise I missed so much in my first run through of the main story. If you’re at over 200 hours then there’s obviously still loads for me to do and explore.
Splatoon 2 for me. Doing a little of everything there, online matches, Octo Expansion and playing through Octo Canyon with the weapons I hadn’t previously used.
Rocket League
Enter the Gungeon, trying to unlock gunslinger.
Horizon Chase Turbo
Gato Roboto
Crystal crisis, team sonic racing and horizon chase turbo with my new hori arcade stick
Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Katamari Damacy Reroll, and Capcom Beat em Up Bundle.
I’ve actually had the lovely chance to play Splatoon 2 and Smash Ultimate online with friends recently, so I’m grateful for that.
I also have racked up on new games! I got Gato Roboto, Pikuniku, and the Castlevania collection for Switch; I also went into my local retro games store and picked up Kirby’s Pinball Land for GameBoy and Mario vs. Donkey Kong for GBA! I’d say that I’m set for a while. (RIP my backlog)
Everyone have a fantastic, safe, and blessed weekend!!
Edit: Oh, and I’ve been playing BOXBOY! and Kid Icarus Uprising for 3DS. There’s just so many awesome games!
@imogenpeach I completed 3 playthrough (2 Ng+) as I found it better to grind that way (and I love the story anyway). Each chapter are you? There are 10 in total
@Donutsavant Let's see...
we have Mario Kart Double Dash, which is still worth experiencing thanks to its unique team mechanics.
Metroid Prime is a wonderfully immersive adventure title that anyone should be able to enjoy regardless of their tastes in FPS-style games.
There's Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, which has a refreshingly sassy writing style and gives us a slightly less "sunshines-and-rainbows-y" take on the Mario universe.
Of course you've also got titles that have been rereleased on modern hardware like the unfailingly charming and timeless Wind Waker. Then there's the exceptional Resident Evil 4 and the remake of the original game, which would satisfy both the action fans and the survival-horror crowd respectively.
Plus you can also get the Game Boy Player Accessory, which opens up a whole new slew of possibilities.
Final Fantasy VI Advance
@Balta666
I finished the main story. Doing all the side quests, raising infinity charts and general grinding for legendary cores etc. now.
Gonna try and finish up Yoshi. 40 hours in and ive collected all flowers and nearing the last gem.
Ive loved every minute with this game!
Probably more Nindies. REIGNS: GOT has been a fun chill game. So has AKANE. Stopped half way through THE MESSENGER and HOLLOW KNIGHT.... So maybe try picking those up again.
@nofriendo
How do you like EVERSPACE?
Mostly boardgames this weekend as I'm getting back into Lord of the Rings: the Card Game and just received Star Realms: Frontiers. But I'll definitely play some Smash Bros. Ultimate and Puyo Puyo Tetris with my kid in between sessions of cardboard.
Can't play much today but hopefully I can finish Resident Evil 0 tomorrow and then start on REmake.
A lazy Saturday after a jam-packed Friday evening (errands and a late Godzilla: King of the Monsters showing) means that I'll play more Pokemon Ultra Sun and more Mega Man X on the SNES Classic later. I may also try my first proper Kirby game this weekend with Kirby Superstar, but we'll see.
I'll likely get out and play more Pokemon Go this weekend. There actually IS a Facebook group for my corner of nowhere that exchanges info and coordinates raids, so I'll spend less time soloing everything. XD
Have a fun, safe, and blessed weekend!
Home
Rage 2
Division 2
On the GO
Starting up Starlink StarFox DLC
Call of Duty Black Ops, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Remastered, and Left 4 Dead all on Xbox One.
Gato Roboto and Final Fantasy X.
Gato Roboto
Aero Fighters 2
Tengai
Strikers 1945
Super Castlevania IV
Some more Team Sonic Racing. I just beat the adventure mode and I'm gonna head into online next. I played Super Mario Odyssey (finally got some more moons!) and Yoshi's Crafted World last night so I'll play those this weekend too.
Downwell, Gato Roboto, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Iconoclasts, Hollow Knight (got the physical cart!), Party Golf, Worms WMD, Pikuniku, Katana Zero, The Swords of Ditto (love the Devolver sale!), Marble It Up! (Monkey Ball is better, but this is great and has lovely expansive levels), Bad North, Kingdom Two Crowns, and SamuraiAces.
Patientially waiting for crash team racing
@dugan My friend Rico creates and excel sheet of his backlog (big as mine if not bigger—- at one point during 360 days he had 386 games backlogged across all systems).... he labels estimated time to complete, if he wants all trophies / 100%, and ranks them on priority to complete. Think he’s ahead of us on how to manage this “crisis”. 😆
@Ooyah Lol, just a testimony to a great game. Just like Zelda Link to the Past or Mega Man X, it’s a game you can keep coming back to and enjoy.
On Isaac, I think I’ve got most chars down to 2-3 completion marks, minus Blue Boy (which I haven’t unlocked surprisingly).... and only 1-2 chars have 5 completion mark holes. Know both those chars are harder to manage on Greed Mode, but it’s been a few months since I’ve okayed so not sure which chars they were...
Edit - I’m actually debating starting a new file on Isaac just for giggles and a refresher of completion marks.
@Anti-Matter You don't need to show us the cover of your 14 year old PS2 game, after all this site is called "Nintendo Life"...
@Sim1
But, we are here not just play Nintendo games.
Sometimes i play my PS2 / PS1 games.
I’ve been playing Assassin’s Creed on Switch. I’ve tried the first one back on PS3 but never really gotten into it. I’m only a little while in but I’m liking it so far.
@Illusion I'm just curious to find out why u would be telling people about your Xbox games on a site called "Nintendo Life" ?.
@Sim1
There are PS4 & Xbox One / Xbox 360 threads in this website.
And also some of Nintendo games are Multi release and ported from other machines.
@Anti-Matter Perhaps it's just me but I wouldn't go to the BMW and start talking about a Mercedes vehicle...It just seems weird.
@Anti-Matter But not PS2...
MHGU co-op grind!
Finally playing the last Fire Emblem game I've yet to play Thracia 776 since it received the new translation patch, I wasn't a fan of the old one since the menus were so messy and hard to understand. It's really tough but I'm also having a really good time, doing my best not to reset for deaths/resort to guides but I have a sinking feeling I may have to break the former rule at least at some point.
Perfect timing for them to release the patch since I just finished Lufia 2 yesterday.
@Sim1
And then what's your problem if this weekend i want to play PS2 / PS1 games?
Other users here play games from PlayStation / Xbox / PC as well, not just only Nintendo.
@Link41 U seem 2 b playing a number of games on various operating systems but what Nintendo games r u playing ?.
Busy weekend so I’ve not touched the switch so far.
Prob going to play an hour or 2 of RE4 tonight and hopefully some more tomorrow. Once you get used to the old school control system it really is one of the best games ever made!
I’m considering assassins creed 3 for my next purchase. I was put off by the reviews but other people seem to be really enjoying it - how is everyone else finding it?
Also wish everyone would leave @Anti-Matter alone - he seems to get stick every week but I enjoy his posts.
@Anti-Matter There is no problem in u playing those games but we don't need to know about it, perhaps a Playstation website would be more suitable. But that's my opinion.
Currently playing Stardew Valley and Mario Rabbids on Switch (casually) and more focused gameplay Horizon: Zero Dawn on PS4. Just purchased another Stardew download code to gift the game to boyfriend, so we can play together and surprise him at the same time.
@Sim1 let's all enjoy our games in all platforms available to us: the question was "what are you playing this week". What if some people are exclusively playing other platforms this week, should we leave them out? The gaming community needs to be more inclusive, rather than this.
Finally broke down and got Dead Cells and started playing MHGU a little.
Tried out the Code Vein and WoW Classic Beta as well.
Just Started playing Mario Odyssey a few days ago. Also seeing Metroid Prime on the list reminds me that I started it again a few months ago and my next destination is the Phazon Mines. I think I'm going to play it again after finishing Yooka-Laylee and Mario Odyssey.
@Sim1 I don’t get it. I was a long time member on a bmw forums and go for meets but we also use to drive different cars and talk about different makes and models and upcoming stuff.
It’s a forum. You are allowed to share opinions.
Yoshi's Crafted World, am enjoying it a lot. Also Burger Time Deluxe on Gameboy, fun little game.
@Ooyah yes exactly! It never really gets old. It's actually what made me sit up and notice indies as it came free with PS plus on Vita and PS4 a long time ago, so I have it on Vita and Switch!
@Tyranexx Something that would be useful after defeating all the 8 robots, is (secret spoiler) the fifth hidden capsule in one of those 8 stages.
I finally got Persona 5, so I'm gonna play that.
@SterlingEyes I’ve only played AC3 for a few hours so far but it seems to be holding up okay imo. I would compare the graphics to what I experienced from Skyrim- aka you can tell it’s a last gen game. I think it looks a little better in handheld vs docked but haven’t experienced any real issues so far. Mostly I find the story is interesting me. I’ve ever really played AC games before so I have nothing to compare it to though lol.
@ricardosteve Exactly that, I enjoy games everywhere and they just happen to not be Nintendo at this moment...
@Mamabear cheers. I haven’t played any either so in a similar boat. I’ll prob give it a go
@WhiteTrashGuy I waited a good long time to make this purchase because I couldn’t be sure about the gameplay. I love the arcade action of Starlink, which can be very challenging in places but is not really high stakes. I thought the rogue-like aspect of Everspace would make it too stressful.
For me, it just isn’t as much fun to play as Starlink, but it is different enough to not feel like a redundant purchase. The graphics are lovely, the soundtrack is fantastic, and the gameplay structured around runs and upgrades can be quite addictive.
What I love about Starlink is if I want to explore instead of battle, I can. I can chill out planetside or plumb the depths of the Atlas system with only occasional and almost never fatal combat. What makes this so much fun, for me, is how beautifully the ships handle. You just wanna blast around in them. That’s not really a thing in Everspace. After you clear an area, you’re free to roam a bit, but soon enough a gang of enemies interrupts your exploration and almost always obliterates you. That, and the piloting just doesn’t feel as immersively real. But that’s OK... it’s not what Everspace is going for.
I have a feeling that when I reach a certain level of power in the game it’ll be more my style, but the early hours are too challenging to relax into, albeit very fun.
Anyway, I don’t regret the purchase at all. And if you’re the type of gamer that enjoys a good challenge coupled with gorgeous visuals, then definitely give Everspace a go. It’s a pretty original entry in what can be a hackneyed genre full of half-baked money-grabs.
@SamusLv7 Duly noted, thanks! I'm using an item checklist guide to hopefully not miss anything of note. I'm leaving strategies for when I'm truly stuck. XD
Void Basta**s mainly. Had a Steam coupon for 25% off, and stumbled onto some funds, so yeah. Good game, exactly what I wanted it to be, which is rare. As for Switch: Thief Simulator, MK11, and some American Fugitive. Maybe Katana Zero on Sunday. Still have $15 to spend on something.
@Aozz101x Can I have as much time as you?
@nofriendo
Thanks for the detailed response! I am the same. I have Starlink and it's pretty fun, but I love space shooters and was very interested in this. Maybe on sale or after I am all done with Starlink.
Had a busy Saturday led to playing some Team Sonic Racing. Also squeezed in some classic PC gaming playing Wing Commander Armada, if that counts too as it's a PC game and not on a Nintendo system. Don't know if I'm going to play anything else.
Something else-I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy on the NES Classic, but right now I'm having fun with my new Switch game Mega Man 11.
A little of Downwell thanks to the sale. Having fun with it so far.
And getting back into Nioh on the PS4.
Might think about picking up Smash Bros in the ebGames sale but you have to trade in some games to get it half price. I hate giving up games lol.
@Donutsavant On GameCube I love: Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, SSX 3, Viewtiful Joe, Star Wars Rogue Leader & Rebel Strike, Burnout 2, Timesplitters 2 (the whole game is awesome, but it also includes 3 minigames. The best version of Snake I've ever played, which is up to 4 player multiplayer, and a great version of Lunar Lander!), Paper Mario 1000 year door, MGS Twin Snake, Sega Soccer Slam, DK Jungle Beat, XG lll extreme g racing, Chibi Robo, Beach Spikers, 1080 Avalanche, SpongeBob SquarePants battle for bikini bottom (great 3D platformer like Mario 64), DDR Mario Mix, and Mario Golf toadstool tour.
Having just played more levels of Marble It Up!, such as"River Vantage" which is really fun and charming with the bright colors and bright music, I think this game is just really different from Super Monkey Ball. It's almost like they shouldn't be compared. Marble It Up! has a controllable camera and a very different physics system for ball movement, friction, bouncing, etc. It also has a jump button, which is fun and satisfying. There's also no Monkey Target mode or multiplayer at all, which is unfortunate. Anyways, both(or all three since I feel Monkey Ball 1 and 2 are both incredible)are great games that run at 60 fps!!
@60frames-please yooooooo!!! I have asked this question all over the internet and I always get the same answers (things that always end up on “hidden gem”lists) but this is fantastic. You’re the best!!
@Donutsavant No problem. I love the GameCube. It's got tons of fun games!
@Dm9982 Wow, that is intense! Thanks for telling me that--I do feel better about my backlog.
Gavin's post depresses me because it makes me feel old. He seriously needs an snes classic to "find pearls"? Is he even too young for the Wii? Has he never played a rom before? Might as well buy myself depends right now.
Mostly Flatout and FFXII this weekend. The latter, over 9 hours in (probably much less than that for others?😅), finally brings in the gambit customization - and yup, this may well become my second favourite battle system in the franchise. The only baffling factor is the need to seek out and purchase crucial algorythm pieces (namely "action target" options based on true/false triggers); until then, you can end up with your designated thief repeatedly trying and failing to steal from the already empty-pocket target because you don't have a programmable condition that would filter such cases out, and setting higher priority attack gambits can meddle with the stealing itself since it's not always guaranteed to proc in the one shot the character may end up having time for. Still, the whole thing's DNA as the main spiritual precursor to Paradigm Shift (of arguably alongside Garment Grid which introduced the concept of every character bringing multiple jobs into one battle) is quite evident here - and promises to get more delicious over time.
There was certainly some Smash Bros as well (not sure if I can get another Peachette, but she's not an enhanceable spirit and I don't expect her to show up in summon recipes either) and some FEW, too - albeit in the capacity of mopping up all the remaining difficulties for the last cleared story mission.
Dragon Quest Builders
Gato Roboto
Still focused on the Oculus Quest, playing Superhot VR, Beat Saber and watching some 3D movies.
I bought Broforce on the Switch as it was finally on sale, so ive been playing that in my downtime.
@1UP_MARIO But with all due respect out of the 130 odd comments posted here he is the only person posting the cover of the game and the only person talking about PS2 games, imagine now for a second if every post was like that...If you can point me to any post by the staff of Nintendolife talking about Playstation 2 games then I'll apologise.
