Taito has announced Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will be receiving a new free update that adds additional content to the game. This includes new stages and the character, Baron von Blubba. Here's a bit from the PR about it:
Taito are currently developing and expanding the game’s content to deliver everything fans wish for, including new stages and the return of a fan favorite enemy character – ‘Baron von Blubba’.
More details about this content will be revealed in the coming weeks and months.
Today also marks the release of the game in North America. It was originally made available in Europe last November. We gave it eight out of ten stars in our review.

I badly want this just for the original game! 😆 But I'm waiting for a sale. Am also still hoping that Hamster will release it (as they already have it available on other systems), although I guess that this new game makes that less likely. ☹️
I'll download the free update once my physical copy arrived from Strictly Limited Games this week.

Well, I thought that I had bought this game on Amazon....now it's saying Temporarily Unavailable. Now I've gotta figure out going about buying this and from where given the Coronavirus muck.

This is likely the big update that was holding back Strictly Limited Games' release, hopefully that can ship soon now.

As cool as something like this is, I'd love to see them do a modern Taito Legends for Switch or PS4. Still need to pick this game up, too. I love Taito games.
Amazon and eBay are asking silly money for a copy. Was this a limited game release? Other smaller stores don't have copies.

Finally we meet again, Baron von Blubba...it's been a while
Got this in UK day one, but after major dose of nostalgia must admit I haven't returned since. All my playing time was in the classic arcade game which includes the encroaching time limit character. Is that Baron Von Blubba?
By contrast only played new version just the one time. It looks anaemic. Once was enough.
As cute as this game is, if feels unfinished and unpolished. Some of the cut scenes look like crap. The promised update better be less than a month away. This game does not feel like it’s worth $39.99. Reminds of something from the wii shop
