Re: Nintendo Highlights The Visual Changes in Xenoblade Chronicles 2

ChuJelly

The game and graphics look amazing, but the character designs... still worry me They still look kinda generic... I hope I'm just worrying too much and the characters end up just as good and developed as in XC1, but my hopes aren't too high. Regardless, still getting the game, I'm certain it will be at least a good play.

Re: Poll: Who Would You Like To See In Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch?

ChuJelly

Bomberman, without a doubt! That's been my dream since I was like 6 years old or whatever and first played Melee. I remember blindly believing "leaks" of him back in the pre-Brawl days and being so sad afterwards. I would probably cry joyful tears if he was announced and would main him instantly. As far as first party characters (with more of a shot), I'd most like to see K. Rool, Bandana Dee, or Dixie Kong. A Splatoon or Arms character would be cool too of course.

Re: Feature: Taking A Deep Breath: Introducing The Voice Of Zelda, Patricia Summersett

ChuJelly

I really liked her voice. I get some of the criticisms about it being weird that she has a british accent, but that's not her fault- she did what she was cast for well, and I thought the voice still fit the character of this Zelda fine. I have issues with how english companies handle voice acting with not showing the actual scenes and quite enough context though, because it too often makes for awkward delivery at little fault of the actor. That I feel is why many criticize BoTWs voice direction, including some of Zelda's lines, as meh or monotone. Regardless, really hate to see some of the first/top comments of this article being hate (joking about how you're so glad you can finally "turn her off" is really rude) especially when she kindly interviewed for this website. Be nice guys.

Re: Talking Point: Defining a Sequel and How It Affects Games Like Splatoon 2

ChuJelly

New story campaign, assumed entirely different specials (the only one so far that we know is coming back is bomb rush I believe), far more customization options no doubt, new weapons and sub-weapons and weapon TYPES, new modes (we know Spectator Mode is in, and I bet ranked mode will see big changes/type additions), all new set of maps including new/re-adapted map elements (like the inklines, now in multiplayer), new gameplay mechanics added to some weapon types that changes how weapons are played (vertical roller flick, charge swim, dualies roll)... what about Splatoon 2 ISN'T sequel-like, exactly? The fact that it doesn't try to fix what isn't broken and add some silly all-encompassing gimmick to completely change gameplay? All the things that we know it'll have new already makes it worthy of being called a sequel, and we barely have an inkling (lol) of what they have in store for us! Silly.

Re: First Impressions: 1-2-Switch is an Ideal Pack-In Game That's Missing Its Chance

ChuJelly

In some ways I can understand this not being a pack-in due to not wanting to send off too purely casual a first-impression of the console, and even if it was free with the console some people may still believe they'd be paying for a game they can't opt out of. However, Nintendo is wild to think that the majority of consumers would pay the 50 bucks this costs. Should be 20, maaaybe 30 bucks at the most- nothing more. It's exactly the type of game you'd show to people the first time they use the Switch and then never play again, outside of maybe select minigames at the start of a party session. They even describe it as an "icebreaker" in the presentation and nothing more, while they revealed ARMS right after it and described that as having "depth, challenge, and replayability", which sends a relative message about 1-2 Switch. They know it's a meager offering- so why is it $50 USD...?

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

ChuJelly

As long as it doesn't take too long after the normal release for the NX version to come out, I have no complaints, as somebody that almost certainly will be getting a Switch near launch if stock allows/Breath of the Wild follows the system soon after. Will probably request a refund of my pledge and decide later what I want to do after NX details are finalized or debunked. Hopefully it will get a physical release like PS4 and Xbone are.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Release Date and Key Games Outlined

ChuJelly

I hope that Nintendo gives people an option for a discount on ports for original owners if they do just end up as optimization for a new system with some additions. It'll feel kind of frustrating if they add a whole lot to them and/or eventually cut the online functions of the Wii U and then have you want to pay the full 60 bucks a second time to benefit. Also, if Pokemon Stars really is real, it'll feel rather crappy to have a superior HD-resolution version of Sun and Moon come out in potentially less than a year after the originals. Stars should've been announced already if this was the case. Hopefully it'll be more like an alternate story to the game or something (A Smash 3DS/Wii U like situation would be really neat!)

Re: Here Are Your New My Nintendo Rewards

ChuJelly

People are getting awfully vocal about a free rewards service. Even if "rewards" has to be put in air quotes pretty much with this service, it's better than absolutely nothing, even while "nothing" is practically what it is. Still, judging this service in its terms as one that's supposed to give incentive for purchases, they definitely could stand to have more full-game offers again like this program started with. Heck, even bring back the old ones at least.

Still, it's nice to see Xenoblade Chronicles and Earthbound on the list. Super good RPGs that not everyone are likely to have. I'll be getting the Wii version of Xenoblade since I've been playing it over and over on my N3DS and playing it on a proper TV console would be nice. Finally a discount I can get behind

Re: Gallery: Take a Look At These Classic Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Grip Designs

ChuJelly

I'd absolutely love the Gamecube one. Would pay for that for sure, though the second stick should be yellow instead of the home button in my opinion. It's too bad we're probably not getting stuff like this, considering through the entire life of the Wii U they only ever released one special edition gamepad (Wind Waker Wii U). I bet all we'll get is black and maybe white...

Re: 3DS Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 1st September

ChuJelly

I don't even know what to hope for at this point, so I'll keep my expectations low. I'm sure we'll get stuff about the last maps of Fates DLC and maybe HW Legends DLC, stuff about confirmed upcoming games, and some eshop and VC stuff. We can hope and pray that they'll at least have something like FE15 or proper GBA VC (Mother 3 confirmed? shot) up their sleeve, but I doubt it. Maybe we'll get a New 3DS exclusive finally and then cows will fly. I really just feel like Nintendo should move onto an all new portable at this point; releases are definitely slowing and I bet the hardware is a major part to blame.

Re: Fan-Made Title Pokémon Uranium Withdrawn By Creators Following Cease And Desist Fears

ChuJelly

I've already downloaded it, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Excited for the nonbinary protagonist option. It's a bit weird that they're taking it down so early out of fear, though. Has anybody ever seen a Pokemon fan game get taken down? Pokemon Reborn, for example, has been around for years with no issues. Since Nintendo doesn't have a 100% ownership of the Pokemon IP, they may not even be allowed to send take-downs over it for all I know. I think the Uranium team are getting quite a bit ahead of themselves, but I guess they're going to support the game more on the down-low from now on instead of risking a total desist. Still weird.

Re: Nintendo Wants Mobile to be a "Pillar of Profit"

ChuJelly

I get why Nintendo is doing mobile. It's trying to appeal to the casual market again in hopes they'll attract some of that audience like they saw on the Wii. We know there are still many people out there that respect Nintendo but are less interested in a dedicated (more expensive) console. I still hear people all around me talk about Mario Kart and such without owning any game system. So I support the mobile idea. But of course, I'm with all the rest in the selfish opinion that they should not focus too greatly on smartphone gaming and use it more as a way to jump start the console audience again. I hate touch-screen-exclusive gaming. Not sure what to make of their response to this question in that sense.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th April (North America)

ChuJelly

Xenoblade is a stunning game and one of my favorites of all time. I hope everyone that likes RPGs at all at least considers it. I'll be buying it a second time, as I played the N3DS version and would love to play it again on the television for a slightly better graphical experience when I can now do so cheaply.

Re: Western Localisation Of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Features Costume And Age Changes

ChuJelly

All I have to say is: who cares? Whether I can or cannot dress a character in a stupid swimsuit does not at all affect my enjoyment of the game. I'm so freaking tired of seeing these articles and how guaranteed they are to attract hundreds of comments. There's such a double standard against Nintendo when it comes to censorship: everyone is up in arms about them no matter what they do and no matter how extremely insignificant a change it is (this one). This is not big news anybody should care about and it's just annoying at this point.

Re: 10 Years On, Hideki Kamiya Still Doesn't Think He Could Better Okami

ChuJelly

Okami is an absolutely amazing game. I can definitely see why he feels unsure about making a sequel when he doesn't think he can top it. One must hope he'd feel inspired enough to proceed anyways, though. I'd certainly welcome a sequel even half as good as the original and I don't often let sequels sour the original if it does turn out bad somehow.
Of note, if anybody wants to try Okami for the first time or just play it again, it's around 5 USD for Okami HD on the Playstation Store right now! Hurry and buy it! Definitely the definitive version.

Re: Review: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (New 3DS / SNES)

ChuJelly

My personal #2 platformer of all time, second only to Retro's Tropical Freeze. Amazing game. I'll be buying it for the N3DS for sure to have it with me all the time. Glad that it'll be just like the original this time, unlike the other portable GBA port of it that I grew up with (which is still fantastic)

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Fan Translation Project Shuts Up Shop

ChuJelly

Hats off to the translation team for getting as far as they did despite having no work obligations to. I'm disappointed with some things in the localization (the butchering of Izana's character, for instance, and highlighting of tropes in general) but I don't much see the point in continuing when the game's out and mostly the same, outside of a few characters and the change to spotty english voice acting (and the touching game/swimsuits that nobody should care about). Apparently another team picked it up though, so I guess those who feel they need it will get it anyways. Guess I have to respect their efforts.

Re: Rumour: Beyond Good And Evil 2 Is Being Developed As A Nintendo NX Exclusive

ChuJelly

I've never played the original, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. If this turns out true, I guess it's time for me to! But wasn't the original title niche to the extreme? It'd be a kind of odd pick for Nintendo to choose this for an exclusive in particular, and I don't see it helping the NX very much. Hopefully if true it's not the only exclusive Nintendo has planned for us. If we're talking dead, highly rated, but somewhat niche franchises, I'd love to see a deal for a new Okami with Capcom...

Re: Nintendo of America Confirms New Wii U, 3DS and Wii Nintendo Selects Titles for 11th March

ChuJelly

I want to see EVERYBODY get Tropical Freeze after this. It's a musical and visual masterpiece of a platformer that everyone seems to overlook, and it should get the credit it deserves. It's my personal #1 platforming game of all time. Get Pikmin 3 too, it's also pretty fantastic and Pikmin doesn't get much attention either...
Considering I have every game I want from this list, none for me. Maybe I'll pick up All-stars since I missed out on that, but since they're not going to reprint the collection contents I bet, it's less tempting.

Re: Retro Studios Finally Modernises and Relaunches Its Website

ChuJelly

Nothing really new on the site, but it does look better. I hope this is a sign that an announcement for whatever they have been working on the past two years is coming soon- it'd make sense to improve their website before they get a rise in activity, and E3/the NX is right around the corner. Retro Studios is my favorite division of Nintendo, and I'm super excited to see whatever they announce next!

Re: Talking Point: Pokémon and Mega Man Show Us Extremes of Nostalgia's Value

ChuJelly

I love Pokémon, but I don't care for playing Gen 1. I hold no nostalgia for it, and I'm too spoiled by the polish of later Pokémon games to want to go back to the bugged mess that is Gen 1. Maybe if it goes on sale. I'm getting the Mega Man Legacy Collection, but mainly because I managed to get the Collectors edition for 20 bucks, which is a steal for all it contains. Not sure if I would have gotten it otherwise, but I'm excited to play Mega Man for the first time!

Re: Video: Nintendo Goes for a Dramatic Approach in Its Fire Emblem Fates Launch Trailer

ChuJelly

@mreeves83 Yup. Same exact situation. Apparently almost everyone who ordered it from Best Buy for shipping is getting theirs delayed. People have contacted reps and they all say it should come much sooner than the "assured" date they gave in the automated email though. They got a delayed shipment from Nintendo for some reason and say it should be sent out as soon as it arrives. Very frustrating, I was looking so forward to this release.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Z Creator Launches New Patreon Page After Nintendo Takedown

ChuJelly

I love Super Mario Bros. Z, but it is not hard to see why his use of Patreon falls into a negative legal area. While it's true that he uses it just to fund himself making these animations without needing a job on the side, it still means he's making money off of Nintendo's (and SEGA's) IP directly in a way I suspect is beyond fair-use. I mean, not only is he using the characters of the series he portrays, but even much of their sprites, music, and sound effects ripped straight from the source. It's like taking somebody else's art, printing it on a t-shirt, and requiring people pay for it- even if a lot of the graphics are his own work. Maybe he'll have better success now that his new Patreon doesn't directly set off flags that "hey, I'm profiting off copyrighted work here" but I wouldn't be surprised if it is taken down again. He'd be better off trying to make money through other methods, like fair-use merchandise or a less obstructive part time job.

Re: Nintendo Issues Statement Clarifying How 'Petting' Will Work in Fire Emblem Fates

ChuJelly

133 comments on this... can we not move on from this topic already? The game's already published and finalized, and nobody is going to convince Nintendo to change anything. And in my opinion, the feature we got to replace the rubbing is just as good, if not better due to featuring all the good of the original feature (support bonuses, Live2D) without the potential awkwardness that clearly many people do not like. I don't see why people are still making such an issue. What's done is done, move on.

Re: Splatoon Action Figures Will Be Inking Their Way To A Toy Store Near You Soon

ChuJelly

If they do Splatoon merchandise, I sure hope they make a Jellyfish/Jelonzo figure! Jellyfish are adorable in that game. I'd love for them to make Xenoblade, Earthbound, and/or Fire Emblem figures, but none of those are very likely to happen unfortunately. They've come out with a lot of cool figures so far though, so I'm sure whatever they do pick to make will still be great.

Re: Exclusive Content and Modes Outlined for Pokkén Tournament, No DLC Currently Planned

ChuJelly

I'll wait to get this rather than get it day one, but that spread of modes does look quite good- I'll be hitting up Combo Dojo first thing. My only gripe with this game is that none of my favorites are playable- and here I thought Greninja at least was a shoe-in! Ah well, can't put in everyone. Maybe they're not done announcing characters, but the fact they already have to say no more will come by DLC (of course, this was said about Smash...) may imply they're done announcing all that's planned. I will say I love the newly announced support mon though- Quagsire and Umbreon/Espeon are well-liked Pokémon to me and I'll keep their options in mind.

Re: Eiji Aonuma on the Idea of Giving Link a Voice

ChuJelly

I agree with Aonuma. I feel like a Link that speaks to the point of expressing independent developed thought (as in, outside of reactionary sounds or words like WW Link's "C'mon!") would ruin how it feels to play as the character and his "individuality". If Link ever did speak, he wouldn't feel much like Link to me anymore and it'd feel less like the player's adventure. It's cool in parodies and official comics and such, but it doesn't belong in the games for the player's experience.
I feel like the Zelda team should maybe consider adding more voice-acting to other characters, though. Not to the point of giving every line of NPC dialogue voices, but just in key cutscenes and such. I'm not too sure about the idea myself either, but I feel if they executed it well and didn't over-do it it could be good.

Re: The Official Fire Emblem Fates Site is Now Live in North America

ChuJelly

Of note, the website doesn't mention the "Skinship" amie thing in the My Castle or Support sections on the Gameplay page despite listing nearly every other feature, making Kotaku's claims of its removal more believable for those who doubt them. I guess it's still a possibility that it's still in, but I heavily doubt it. I've always thought it'd be removed for many different reasons and it won't be missed very much by me.

Anyways, I've got the special edition pre-ordered, and will probably be going Nohr first! It sounds more like a classic Fire Emblem experience to me, and I like difficulty.

Re: Bayonetta 2 to Have a Standalone North American Release on 19th February

ChuJelly

@Luna_110 Yeah, I've mostly given up on getting them both physically since this near confirms no reprint of them both, so I might just settle for getting the first digitally (for now, at least....) if I find no simpler option. I'll try to get the second physically at least, though. I can hide things easy enough and I'll actually be able to get that for a fair price with the rerelease.

Re: Bayonetta 2 to Have a Standalone North American Release on 19th February

ChuJelly

I hate how hard it's been for me to get Bayonetta 1 and 2. I've wanted it practically since release, but as I'm a high schooler living in a Conservative Christian home, the idea of an M-rated sexual game with demons.... did not fly with them, even if I only want it for the action and because it gets such amazing ratings. Could never buy it. 17 now and I can legally buy this game myself and just hide it from them until college, but only Bayonetta 2 is being reprinted.... dang it, Nintendo, so close. I just want those two games physically without paying a premium eBay price

Re: Video: Hudson's Abandoned R&D Lab Still Has Its Miniature Train Track In Place

ChuJelly

This is very depressing. I may not have been a kid of the 8-bit era, but I've always fondly remembered Hudson, as I'm a big fan of the Bomberman series and others by them. It's so sad to look at this old lab of theirs and think about how much they've fallen since then. I really wish we could have them back, or at least Konami could start developing Bomberman games for something other than Japanese smart phones... I still miss Hudson and its franchises dearly and I feel they don't get the respect they deserve. Oh well, that's Konami for you...

Re: Feature: Our Staff's Hopes and Dreams for Nintendo's 2016

ChuJelly

The main thing I'm anxiously looking forward to is an announcement of whatever Retro Studios is making! They put so much amazing quality into both the Metroid Prime series and their two games in the Donkey Kong Country series, and I'll bet whatever they have in store next will be just as top-notch! Hoping for another Donkey Kong (or Diddy Kong... Diddy Kong Racing, anyone?) game from them, or a new or freshly revived IP of their making. If not by them, I'd like to see just a Donkey Kong game of some type or any new IP in general. And hopefully Pikmin 4 will get some official details, that'd be nice! Any one of those things is all I need. Though I'd of course love to see Mother 3 localized, a new 3D Mario and/or Paper Mario, a F2P/cheap game that doesn't suck and is revolved around usage of all amiibo (It'd be nice to have a meaningful game to use them with in addition to the small benefits), ZELDA U, and any other (preferably non-spinoff) addition to core Nintendo franchises (AC, F-Zero, Pokemon, Metroid, Kirby) really. I'm sure we'll hear about the NX but I care a lot more about the games they release than the console.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Details for the Super Smash Bros. Direct

ChuJelly

@Angelic_Lapras_King I second this times a million. Cloud being a total surprise was so much more hype worthy to me than Ryu when we were spoiled for him early and he wasn't a surprise at all, even when I love playing as Ryu. And we may have been spoiled for the new Pokken fighter with "leaks" as well just a few days ago on NLife. Spoilers really kill things and do not belong anywhere but under heavy spoiler warnings so I wish they'd stop. I'll probably be staying off the internet a few days before the direct just in case at this rate....
@datshantaeguy True, Shantae wouldn't be bad I guess either. Really, I'll take almost anybody besides huge nopes like Steve or Master Chief or another Mario character or something.

Re: Review: Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash (3DS)

ChuJelly

I've already pre-ordered it. I want to support the lil robot as long as he'll go, and I still feel like this game will feel charming enough to me to get some good fun out of it in short bursts. I'm a sucker for cute gameplay. If anything, since I get 20% off the game with Best Buy GCU ($32), I can think of it like I got a standard 13 dollar amiibo with a decent $19 game. Fair enough in my book.

For real though, I wish they would stop trying to reinvent Chibi Robo with every outing. Nintendo should go with the classic 3D style or now Zip Lash style or whatever and stick with it. I feel like Chibi Robo isn't being given a chance to flesh itself out when gameplay introduced in one game is completely thrown out the next and the game gets confused about what it is. All the great Nintendo series had their simple starts and built up the gameplay from there, adding more to the base formula, but Chibi hasn't. Unfortunately, we may not be getting any more Chibi Robo games after this, so I'm not sure if we'll ever get to see our lil buddy shine brightly again At least if it dies I will go down with it.

Re: Upcoming Super Smash Bros. Patch Will Make Diddy Kong Less Obnoxious

ChuJelly

Hope the only change to him will be the (very necessary) new glitch fix as the note seems to imply. There's no reason to nerf Diddy any further. He's not "OP" at all any more post nerfs; most tier lists I see rank him near #5 at highest and often lower now. Better than average yes, but his balance is fine and very manageable by anyone that knows how he works. I play Diddy because I love his character (grew up with DKC2) and I'm tired of all the undeserved hate he gets for stupid reasons. I just want Diddy to stop being changed all the time, good or bad.
