Re: Game of the Year: Nintendo Life's Staff Awards 2015

Chaoz

Eeehhh...
I wouldn't put Splatoon over Super Mario Maker and I sure as hell wouldn't say it the game of the year for Nintendo. And even if I still haven't played Xenoblade X yet (I'm actually downloading it right now though) I know it's at least better than Yoshi Wooly World. And there is no way Majora's Mask 3D, a remake that barely adds anything besides making the game a bit more streamline, is the best 3DS game of the year and MH4U isn't.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Festive Gaming Plans - Part Two

Chaoz

Even though I'm suppose to be completely Twilight Princess right now instead of fiddling around on the Internet I'm planning on playing Earthbound for the remainder of this December. It is a game I always end up replaying again during this sweet time of year.

Re: Talking Point: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS Set a Standard That'll Be Tough to Follow

Chaoz

@EngieBengie Since when was Smash ever about the single player content? Oh yeah, Brawl, and you know how that turned out. I'm glad that the series is focusing morw on gameplay instead of putting all of the budget on single player content that you won't bother with after the first week of you getting the game. It the same reason why people play Melee and Project M to this very day. Gameplay, balance, and character diversity is the 3 main fundamentals of Super Smash Bros, not single player crap. It makes me glad that Sakurai rushed the single player content and focus back on gameplay like many competitive fans wanted. To put it in a metaphor, there is no reason to add lots of extra toppings to an already absolutely delicious ice cream cone with a bit of sprinkles. (Inb4 someone comes screaming at me for acting like I hate Brawl, I still like the game. I just think the game should have focus more on multiplayer than single player stuff like subspace)

Re: Feature: Time to Vote for Your Nintendo Life Game of the Year Awards 2015

XCX, literally no contest at all. The only thing that compares to it is MH4U and Stella Glow. Super Mario Maker doesn't deserve it because even though I like the game there are hundreds of SMB Engines like SMBX has much more content. Splatoon doesn't deserve it because the game online is so damn limited even after the "Splatoon 2.0" update. I still enjoy both games, but there're underwhelming compared to a game as big as XCX. This list also reminds me of how crappy this year it been for Nintendo and Nintendo fans. The indie section is full of games like Freedom Planet, Don't Starve, and many others being out since 2013 and the Wii U is just now getting them nearly 3 years afterwards.

Re: Art: Here's Another Western Take On The Legend Of Zelda's Link

Chaoz

Eh. Even though I don't have any bias towards western or eastern styles, I still say that Link look too inhuman and elf like. Sure Link was an elf in OoT, but he didn't look like he came straight out of Santa's workshop when he grew up. He looked like a normal eastern styled human. And most of all since when was Link's shield a piece of paper of mass destruction.

Re: Minecraft Finally Digs Its Way Onto the Wii U eShop on 17th December

To avoided arguing, releasing all types of rage into this comment section, and writing the equivalent of a 3 page article even though I literally expected nothing out of this announcement, I'll just say that nobody in their right mind should buy the abomination of an "big announcement" and just buy the cheaper and most active PC version.

Re: Project M Development Ends as Its Team Looks Ahead to 'New Projects'

Chaoz

This was the mod that actually got be back into Smash in the first place. It all just seen so sudden too; I can't be sad enough to see it go forever now esspecially when it was evolving into more than Brawl with Melee physics. I guess I'll just play a few matches of turbo mode, probably one of my favorite thing the Project M team did and wish Sakurai would add to Smash 4.

Re: Feature: The Twilight Princess HD Fan Project That's Taking On Nintendo At Its Own Game

Chaoz

I've been keeping track of this project for a week or so. I can not wait to actually get my hands on this texture pack, gameplay changes included. After being dissapointed with Nintendo remaster of my favorite Zelda game, I need to play this. Congrats to Tomoya for out doing Nintendo.
@Tsurii
Considering they planning on making the AI smarter, make bosses and the game in generalharder, some things less tedious like changing into Wolf Link, going through the trouble of re adding the magic meter, adding even more new features like adding a new mode to Wolf Link where he is stronger but take more damage and the spinner being useful in battle, and small stuff like a Boss Rush and a costume system like in Tri Force heroes, I pretty sure they care a lot more about gameplay than must people who make HD texture packs. And I'm sure they're doing more than adding "generic filters". Most notable they're making the game use more than 6 colors.

Re: Review: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash (Wii U)

Chaoz

I knew this game would be the worst Mario Tennis game to date. With the sudden announcement in E3, lack of information, and Nintendo pushing out rushed game after rushed game this year for Christmas, all signs point towards it being crap. It is truly sad when Power Tennis, a game that came out years ago for the Gamecube, has more replay value and overall content than this. I guess I'll just play that in to get my Mario Tennis fill for the year...

Re: Talking Point: The Latest Nintendo Direct Was a Bright Return to the Limelight

Chaoz

@Splatburst No actually. I'll say it something the Wii U can run just fine. All it those is make it look actually polish and good instead of slightly more detailed. None of the Twilight Princess HD fan projects are too much for the Wii U to handle, especially since the Wii doesn't have to double the work by basically emulating the Gamecube while running the game since the game would be only made for the Wii U. Stop using that utterly crappy excuse.

Re: Video: Check Out a Graphical Comparison for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

Chaoz

@kyuubikid213 I don't get why you say Twilight Princess is "last gen" because it's not last gen at all. It's a Gamecube game that had an inferior port on the Wii (at least inferior to the eyes of left handed people like me) that sold more. That last gen excuse is not accurate at all. Not only that but they could have at least changed to textures to look a lot less dull and flat like in Wind Waker HD. Speaking of Wind Waker HD, this whole remaster look like a step down from it. Wind Waker HD changed not only the models, but the items, lighting, and added a new collectables. Twilight Princess HD locks content behind amiibo that should be in the game, changes no of the models making some of them look like crap in HD, keep the dull colors of Twilight Princess making the game look even more plastic at times, doesn't even try to change the lighting that could improve the game's visuals by a mile, and look like a remastered that would have came out for the PS3 3 years ago.

Re: Shovel Knight is Now Playable on Wii U Emulator, Cemu, But Progress Remains Slow

Chaoz

@The_Ninja There is no PS3 emulator because the PS3 is pretty hard to program on let alone make a emulator for and the Xbox 260 although not as complex as the PS3 is still an complex system. It's not a matter of power, if it was then there would be a PS4 and Xbone emulator running at full speed by now. It's a matter of the system "language". Emulators have to translate the system language have to translate it to PC language to make it simple. That's why there is no completely accurate N64/Saturn emulator even though my toaster from 2004 can run N64/Saturn games just fine. Both of those system have very poor documentation so the emulator can't "translate" it very accurately. In short, it's nobody fault for a Wii U emulator processing at a amazing rate and the power of the console have nothing to do with emulation.
@Mineral
@R_Champ
@inverse
Emulators doesn't always lead to piracy. It is completely legal for a person to make an emulator for a console even if it current gen and backup and play their games on their PC. Nintendo even hint at that on their site. Of course it is completely undoubtable that people will end up pirating a game or two because they never been a emulator that hasn't had a single user pirate something on it, but that still doesn't mean everybody will do the same. Also, what is so bad about preserving games in the first place? Some games cost literally thousands of dollars to get (See: Metal Gear Soild GBC) and some are completely lost in time, never to get played again.

To end my ramblings about "emulation bad" topic and get back to what I was originally going to say, I'm pretty impress that it can run Shovel Knight at a somewhat playable speed at this point. Hopefully it keeps this rate and maybe get to see a very alpha gamepad emulation.

Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

Chaoz

As a person that usually not in favor of censorship esspecially when it it tampering with the creators envisions, I'm really don't care about this even though I play as a girl in a lot of games. Out of all of the things you can do when creating a female avatar, it's what I really care the least about because most of the time I stick with the default size or just make her completely flat chested. Most women I know do the same thing too even if they have a large chest size. Still I think it's wrong for NoA to do this considering you should be able to customize your character in anyway you like, but I still could care less if they censored it. Now if they end up censoring the story, removing religious reference, changing the characters personalities in anyway, or cutting a mission in the game during localization then me and the Treehouse are going to have a huge problem.

Re: Review: Stella Glow (3DS)

Chaoz

Well if this wasn't on my radar already, it's definitely is up there with Xenoblade Chronicles X and Yokai Watch of games that instead of wanting I absolutely need to pick up. I'm glad and sad Imageepoch left off on such a great note even though I haven't played many of their games. It always sad when a company final game is a "Final Fantasy" in the literal sense and it just leaves you feeling a little bit sad after beating it.

Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 3 - 2002 to 2006

Chaoz

This was the generation that got me into the Pokemon craze and I always thought had the best Pokémon design and world design (although Black and White changed my opinion on that a bit). The gen 3 may have its problems, but its one of my most nostalgic games because I never played anything like it before. It was a breathe of fresh air after being a Sega fan for so long and I was blown away by its music, art, and basically everything.

Re: Dark Mewtwo Gets Added to Pokkén Tournament Arcade Machines

Chaoz

@KTT I always preferred Mega Mewtwo X design over the Y design. I hate how the Y design make Mewtwo turn into a Pokémon version of Super Buu just a 100 times worst design wise. Mega Mewtwo X likes Like a real upgrade of Mewtwo since he actually resembles Mewtwo outside of the color scheme.

Re: Miitomo, Nintendo's First Smartphone Game, Is Delayed Until March 2016

Chaoz

@KingofSaiyans I
It's just a mobile game though. They don't take up much development time and Nintendo said they would keep making full triple A experiences. I don't recall the Wii being hated by anyone really, it still had a good amount of great 1st and 3rd party games and I consider it to be the PS2 of last gen.

Re: Miitomo, Nintendo's First Smartphone Game, Is Delayed Until March 2016

Chaoz

I really don't get how people are booing this and saying it's a terrible idea. I'll have to agree with @skywake , this sounds like it could be very profitable in the end. This game is very, very obviously isn't directed toward your day to day gamer, but casuals instead. Casuals (speaking from experience) absolutely love these types of virtual avatar, social media apps. Tomdachi Life sold around 2 million copies alone and it's a 30 dollar game if also directed to casuals. Now imagine this game basically being a mobile version of Tomdachi Life with the equivalent of Streetpass, online communication (for example, visiting your friends Mii's House through online), and free-to-play, this can't be failure. The new Nintendo president knows what he is doing, he predicted the Wii U failure for heavens sake. There is so many good opportunities Nintendo can take with this one.
