Re: WRC 10 Power Slides Onto Switch In March

Boshar

Have WRC8. Bought it in an eshop sale. Very decent rally game. Also has a good and consistent framerate. Considering an upgrade to WRC10 if it offers enough new content.

Sure Grid is a nice racer but it’s is a little bland compared to specialized offerings like WRC and NASCAR Heat (just try that last one, driving in the field, slipstreaming and overtaking feels very appropriate and unique).

For a cheap and also very good rally experience you could also try Rush Rally 3. It lacks the licensed cars and drivers but it is a great rally racer.

Re: Talking Point: As The Fan-Made 2D Metroid Prime Game Is Shut Down, Where Do You Stand On Nintendo's Takedowns?

Boshar

@Whitestrider

Yeah and people read EULA’s to. Just a screen you click through. Also if somebody streams the game on Twitch they will only see “hey it’s Metroid”.

If this team would be hired by Nintendo to make an official Metroid there would be endless meetings evaluations and forced improvements to the software until it would fit with Nintendo for its property.

Remember Nintendo threw out all the work Metroid Prime 4 and gave the job to another team just because they found the product was not good enough. The last thing they need is some wannabe game programmer amateurs to misuse their IP and game assets in some inferior product.

If you are a talented painter it’s no use copying Picasso, Van Gogh, Rembrandt or Kandinsky. You need to develop your own style and product.

Also, really using designs you do not own or have any rights to and making then into a game on a platform on which Nintendo does not release any games. How naive can you be? Let’s say Nintendo leaves them alone and the game comes into wide circulation. The general public playing that stuff will see it as a Metroid product. Any glitches, bad game design and controversial content will be attributed by them to the Metroid franchise and Nintendo.

And even if the product is the best Metroid ever it will remove a unique selling point for Nintendo hardware.

People doing these projects should do the math beforehand. There is no way this will ever workout good.

Re: The New Patch For Deadly Premonition 2 Seems To Have Improved The Frame Rate

Boshar

Finally got a physical copy at a good price. Was prepared for the worst and that probably colored my experience. Sure some framedrops and low FPS especially in the open world but it’s very playable. Controls during the fights was okay and didn’t get into the way of the experience. I just finished the Episode 1 boss and that was a great experience.

It’s a shame most reviews can’t convey what is great about this game. I guess it’s to hard to write up without massive spoilers. The dialogues, the interesting NPC’s, the pure SWERY weirdness / genius. Mann I couldn’t lay this game down and played for 10 hours straight.

Technically flawed but an unique great experience for SWERY fans.

@PALversusNTSC

Give it time. I must have started and quickly abort this game more then 5 times before I fell into this hole. The thing that got me was the Switch version. Certainly not the best looking version but with the on the go playing capabilities of the Switch and long commute times I finally got serious.

With the commuting temporary on hold I’m very glad with the possibility to use my Switch save on my gaming PC.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

Boshar

I got hooked on the Atelier RPG series. When one of those games has a Switch version I buy that version.

So I had to get Firis and Sophie on PS4. Playing the first part of Sophie the over world moving felt wrong, the smooth 60 frames per second made me motion sick as I was tuned to the more Cinematic 30 FPS standard 😉

Its so much easier to pick and play these RPGs for a while. I also like the quietness of the Switch. My PS4 Pro sounds like ik can take off at any moment.

Re: Review: Rush Rally 3 - A Cheap And Cheerful Rally Racer

@Brownmonster
Driving my upgraded car on a known circuit is a frightening experience. The speed is so wel captured in this game. The track wizzes by in an instant, the extra speed makes it harder to nail the perfect brake point. Perfect racing feeling for me! Well done!

It might be easier to stay on the road in this game but if you want to be first you need to do some challenging driving. I like it how the game pushes you to take extra risks that can end in a disaster in a split second.

Re: Switch Owners Choose To Play EA Games On Other Platforms, Says Company CEO

Boshar

I bought the first FIFA on Switch because at the time it looked like they made some effort to make something that could work on the platform. I will never buy those crap newer versions for my PS4 Pro. I’d rather buy PES at least that one is less effected by lootboxes and other player exploitation. Oh, sorry I mean ‘Surprise Mechanics”

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Boshar

I have (and need to play) Wolfenstein, Splatoon Octo dlc, Y’s, Shining resonance and yes this week I also bought Octopath.

I promised myself just to play the first Primrose chapter before continuing with Y’s but now most of my Saturday was spent playing Octopath.

So many great games, so little time. Nintendo is killing it with the Switch

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Boshar

I got both Wolfenstein 2 and YS VIII this week and to my surprise I can not put YS VIII down. I almost skipped that game because of the negative reviews but oh boy, this game is right up my alley. And sure there are performance drops but noting that has me worried.

Did play some Wolfenstein 2 on Friday and sure compared to the PS4 demo the resolution an image quality suffers but with gyro aiming and the play anywhere Switch advantage I’m happy playing it on this machine.

Re: Nintendo Bans Online Services For Prominent Hacker's Switch Console

Boshar

Ban them all and take them to court.

If you miss features or don’t like the current system them don’t buy it. The hacking on the previous systems is the main reason we don’t have backup saves to memory cards and a functioning webbrowser.

If they don’t like it let them make their own system and their own AAA games. And with them being hackers I ‘m sure they won’t mind somebody opening up their system and pirating their stuff. It’s all about the extra features man! (Yeah, right)

Re: Review: Skies Of Fury DX (Switch eShop)

Boshar

Bought it and its fun. I agree that switching the functions of the left en right stick would make it better. But for now an 8 is a good score. If they adapt the controls an 8.5. It’s fun, has lots of options and I already played it for 3 hours straight. It’s certainly worth the asking price for me.

Re: Guide: How to Farm Dragon Parts in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Boshar

@Angelic_Lapras_King the first time I spotted a dragon in the night sky I was overawed. I kept taking pictures of it and made sure not to approach it as such a giant would surely hit me with a one hit kill.

Finding corrupted Naydra was awesome. When I finally dared to approach and found out my mission I had a smile from ear to ear fighting the corruption and learning more about the dragons.

Re: Nintendo Switch Chip X-Ray Suggests The Console Is Running A Stock Nvidia Tegra X1

Boshar

@subpopz @SLIGEACH_EIRE Maybe it is because the Wii U was a commercial failure and Nintendo's subsequent measures to get content on it but to me it turned out to be a great machine.

Great exclusives like Bayonetta 2, the Wonderful 101, Xenoblade Chronicles X
The usual Nintendo 1st party titles
Stuff that normally wouldn't reach Europe like Project Zero and FE#

Add to that backward compatibility with the full Wii library (and GameCube by using Nintendont).
Emulation releases that give you legal access to all the Nintendo NES and SNES games. Also access to some of their greatest handheld titles.

All this in a neat little package that directly connects via HDMI to your TV. All the Zelda's, every Mario game, all the Metroid games. And there are a ton of accessories that support real GameCube, SNES and NES controllers.

Even if you feel cheated by the Wii U. Selling a good condition Wii U with some games can still get you between 200 - 250 €/$. Try selling a launch X-Box One or PS4 you'd be lucky to get 50% of what you paid for it.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Still Love the Wii U

Boshar

Bought a launch Wii U and never regretted it. Love that machine.
I even picked up a 2nd Wii U last year to make sure I keep access to my games if anything happens to the hardware.

The Wii U has some great games, lovely remakes and the backward compatibility with Wii and GameCube (hack/Nintendont) gives me instant access to some of the best years of Nintendo games.

The VC on Wii and Wii U is the icing on the cake adding even more Nintendo greatness (and the Wii VC doesn't stop there and gives you access to even more great retro machines).

This machine gives me access to 30 years of gaming greatness. Is easily connected to a modern tv and even has its own portable screen. It's a monster console.
