I loved the game but I also understand that some of the kingdoms felt a little rushed, Cap Kingdom had nothing interesting about it considering it was the first kingdom you get to, the Cascade kingdom is relatively small for the type of kingdom it is and didn’t offer very much, I just wanted more going on with that kingdom which didn’t do it for me. The cloud kingdom was boring. The ruined kingdom could have been so much more. The best kingdoms I had to say which stood out was the Sand kingdom, Wooded Kingdom and the Seaside kingdom.

Though I’d love to see the first true open-world Mario game. Traveling and platforming in huge areas, solving puzzles and beating bosses of certain areas and finding Secret places…maybe like finding jungle areas where you find Donkey Kong, or mines filled with rare diamonds and gems and finding out that it’s Wario.

There’s so many possibilities with Mario. He really is Nintendo’s toy box of imagination and ideas

All games look nicer on the Oled. Though I did notice replaying Mario Odyssey again recently on the switch oled that the grass looked a bit odd in the Cascade Kingdom, kind of a blurred or fuzzy effect which I never noticed before. But those rich and vivid colours are very nice to look at.

@Kreko it wouldn’t be 4K in handheld mode. I assume it will support 4K when docked, if it’s real that is

@MarioBrickLayer I’d love a 3D Mario and Donkey Kong game. Mario exploring a huge jungle and finding Donkey Kong, or Donkey Kong exploring the Mushroom Kingdom.

Black, though I wouldn’t mind using the wallpapers that Nintendo advertises on the switch boxes for the past 4 years, the ones that don’t actually exist on the system!

@roboshort Very true, long overdue for the next Mario Kart, will it happen on this Switch or the next one? With sales as massive as they are for Mario Kart 8, I can’t see Nintendo releasing another right now. It’s making too much dough for them

@SalvorHardin I thought the same thing about them having outside help, Though I wouldn’t say Star Allies was anaemic, some levels looked very good, New Super Mario Bros is a game I’d say is anaemic, it’s bland and uninspiring and just nothing going on in the levels that is appealing to the eye.

@westman98 Fingers crossed for this as those teams are amazing, especially the Mario team and Yoshiaki Koizumi leading them now. I think he is still part of that team

@westman98 Interesting, so they have been busy working on both the next Mario and this new Donkey Kong? Sounds promising.

I’m wondering if Bowsers Fury might be the future of Mario with a kind of Open-World that changes after missions rather than visiting different worlds or kingdoms.

@westman98 Actually looking the details up again, you are correct. It seems like there is a bit of discrepancy on the build of Bowsers Fury, not the tweaking of Mario 3D World port. Some say it was NST and some are saying EAD. The hack leak of the game revealed it was NST and1Up Studio earlier in the year. So sorry for the confusion there. I just assumed EAD gave them the assets from 3D World and NST and 1Up studio built Bowsers Fury.

If it was all of EAD then that could be exciting as this maybe a taste of the next Mario to come.

@westman98 Yes I’m aware EPD would be involved with assets from 3D World being used for Bowsers Fury, but the majority of the leg work was made by NST, hence all the western names at the end credits of Bowser’s Fury

@westman98 Bowsers Fury was developed between Nintendo NST, it’s American devision and 1-Up Studio

It was great but I was hoping with Shiggsy making an appearance that we would of seen what the Mario Odyssey team have been up to these past four years, considering they had nothing to do with Bowser’s Fury, they have been very quiet.

I wonder if the decided to do away with Mario’s Italian accent and it’s why Hollywood have chosen Chris Pratt, basically he would be doing his normal voice.

@OorWullie That would be lovely, but I’ve got a feeling that Nintendo might want to save the next big 3D Mario for a more powerful switch system, whenever that might come out, they will want a system seller and as we are yet to have Breath of the Wild 2, it won’t be Zelda for the next more powerful system.

Colours are a lot more vivid, impressive screen

I knew it would be a success, I was hearing from people who were not massive Nintendo fans to begin with talking about it and saying what a great concept it was. Most of my family and friends own one. Nintendo really have captured the market with this hybrid. I assume they will be sticking with this concept now but with more powerful innards in the future

I wish I still have my GameCube so I could play some Double Dash. About time we had gamecube games on the VC.

Dire, Dire Docks is just magical, I hear that and it sends me back 25 years. I’d love to hear it again in another Mario game.

It’s a job at the end of the day, my job is hard, it’s extremely repetitive but it’s a job. I crack on with it.

NES with Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt on the same cartridge

However disgruntled I get with Nintendo at times, I always remember that there are thousands of employees working hard on games that I will eventually love and make me feel like a kid at Christmas again, that is the magic of Nintendo. I would love more first party games more often but those game take time and I appreciate the work that goes into them.

@mlj11It would be impossible for Nintendo to scale back with the hand holding nature of Skyward Sword because it’s story is driven by handholding and the areas are very linear. There is no way of getting lost in this game.

Even without the supposed 4K docked support and DLS rumours, it’s very underwhelming.

@CactusMan people enjoy leaks. It didn’t hurt the company, it didn’t cause injury. I’d say losing their jobs was fair enough. Putting two people in that amount of debt for the rest of their lives is however very damaging.

That’s extremely excessive and the only way I can see these two individuals from paying that amount of debt is by going bankrupt. What they did was naughty but they didn’t kill anyone or hurt anyone.

The part where Link appears to travel through rock like a water droplet seems interesting.

For the time it will probably take for this game to come out, they could have made a complete new Zelda game without using the same assets of breath of the wild, while I know it’s a sequel, and with the exception of COVID delaying stuff, I feel if we are going back to the same Hyrule map (on ground) it will be very underwhelming exploring the same ground and villages. Also, the art-style of link free-falling from the sky at the start looks different to the rest of the footage, something odd going on there.

@Arkay I was going to say the same thing. Expecting to be crucified for saying it’s massively overrated, much like James Corden.

@Decapre I wouldn’t say it was a mistake, it kind of pathed the way for the switch.

I always said Breath of the wild 2 could probably take advantage of an upgraded switch system, have it running better. I’d be happy for an updated system

I do hope if the rumours are to be believed that a new Donkey Kong game is in development, that it’s not given the “New” treatment that Mario had, it was okay on the DS and maybe alright at best on the Wii, but the series was bland and lacklustre, Mario and Donkey Kong should be inspiring and amazing. If it’s 2D I don’t see how they can better the series after Retro’s Tropical Freeze. For it to be groundbreaking again, they would need to bring Donkey Kong into 3D again.

I just hope we might hear about some dlc for this at e3

There’s no way it’s the Odyssey team, it would seem a waste of talent to go back to 2D games from a massive success that was Mario Odyssey. At DKvine, apparently it’s a brand new team which has been selected to be developing this game. And there was also these advertisements a while back
